UCLA v. USC

TAVAI.FUMBLE

Last week USC had one of the biggest victories nationally of the young season, was ranked No. 9 and playing a struggling East Coast team. UCLA struggled in two victories and dropped in the top 25 polls.

Do USC fans still feel the Trojans will win the Pac-12 South now?

  1. Of course they do, but they also think it’s still 2005 over at Yesterday U!

What SC fans should really be bummed about isn’t the loss, but that UCLA still won, on the road, without Hundley. That’s been their rallying cry this year – “if Hundley goes down UCLA’s toast” they said! Only at #clowncollege.

  2. No one who has watched all three games is holding their breath for anything. I personally exhaled while watching Stanford lose game 2.

My expectations for this season and Sark’s system remain low.

  4. People are legitimately worried that Sark will scruw the pooch, setting off a fire Sarkisian movement, and hurt recruiting.

  5. ASU remains the strongest-looking team in the P12S, however with the loss of Kelly… open race. Not so much the team who wins the most, but the team that stumbles the least. Jerry Neuheisel shocked all of us Bruin fans on Saturday. (Went to school with his dad, so I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.)

    • How so, please? ASU looked meh against Colorado through 3 quarters and then goose-egged the 4th. They’re toast.

          • I have seen them play, just not against CO. ASU is 14th in the nation in passing O, 11th in scoring (avg 47 per game), and solid on D (avg 20 points per game). They’ve looked much more consistent in their three wins than UCLA or USC. So my question is, why do you think they are not the strongest-looking P12S team right now?

          • Because I saw them against Colorado. And their points were against winless Weber State and winless New Mexico, hardly making their stats impressive. Throw an injured Kelly in the mix and they’re probably as bad as SC.

          • Yeah, the drop-off for ASU without Kelly is steeper than UCLA’s drop-off without Hundley–though BH should be back in service soon.. Having JNeu backing up is also very reassuring.

          • Don’t get too caught up in Jerry Neu. He did a great job in 1 game. But, if we have to rely on him to run the team for more than 1 game against a questionable Texas team, it may not have such a happy ending.

          • Regrettably there was a Teen Wolf 2, I believe. I don’t believe that Jerry has a sequel in him. It was a great evening for him and his family. I don’t think we can count on that happening again.

  6. The truth is neither UCLA or SUCC is strong enough to contend for the 2014 National Championship. So th FB prize, which team owns LA FB, will be settled Nov. 22.

  7. SC has a legit shot, the schedule is favorable, OSU and ASU at home, Ucla after 4 relatively weaker opponents. Oregon State will be a good barometer. Arizona could be the “lay an egg” game coming after what could be a high scoring game with ASU.

  8. The race is wide open.

Bruins dealing with Hundley’s injury. We won’t know how serious it is until the ASU game. ASU appears to have lost their QB for several weeks. SC having problems stopping the run. Arizona and Utah may have a real impact in the race this year. It isn’t just a UCLA/USC thing at the moment. Both UCLA and USC are very young in the OL as well as throughout the roster and will need a lot of improvement over the next several weeks.

    • f ucla will win the South if they get to play a team each week who has just lost their quarterback to injury. Otherwise SC still wins the South.

      • SC will be playing ASU without Kelly as well. He will probably be out several weeks. SC has the most favorable schedule, but Utah and Arizona on the road aren’t easy outs. Arizona runs the ball very well and I am sure they will watch the BC tape closely.

Also, Hundley has given you fits the last 2 years as have other QB’s that can run. I don’t think an SC win at the Rose Bowl is a given. Like I said, I think the race is wide open.

  9. SUCLA is sucla, which translates to ‘they’ve never won anything since 1929 when they started playing football’

ASU is the devil, which means it has never prevailed in any
    God-fearing sport i.e. football

So, yeah, SC with 11 National Championships under its belt, and an indian skin to its name (oops, a cardinal skin) looks like the betting favorite.
