USC Morning Buzz: 2015 Review

The 2015 schedule includes a tough stretch where USC hostsĀ Stanford (Sept. 19), goes to Arizona State (Sept. 26), hosts Washington (Thursday, Oct. 8) and then travels to Notre Dame (Oct. 17).

But a challenging portion of the schedule is the least that can happen when you look at that embarrassing start hosting Arkansas State and Idaho. Those teams are a combined 1-4 right now with the victory over Montana State.

Just how those games prepares USC for the rest of the year is debatable. One cupcake is OK but two? I’ve heard some fans suddenly pump up Boston College this week into a powerhouse. Well, they should be thrilled to see USC at 2-0 next year.

But how hard will it be to make the adjustment to Stanford and Arizona State right after that?

  1. Well, Scottie, SEC teams play high school equivalent games before turning to their league games, and last time I checked the SEC was holding their own pretty well

  2. USC better widen the talent gap between those PAC 12 opponents, because those coaches will out coach Steve Sarkisian on any given Saturday.

    • I second the motion and suggest we all write to USC and ask that his press pass be revoked. He needs no special access to continuing being a first class jerk. Criticism, I’m okay with it and write whatever you like, but there are consequences to being a first class jerk. I see cardinal and gold, images of the USC team and fans and a title of Inside USC as the basis for Wolf to have a platform for his free speech. Well, keep the free speech but loose the attempt to gain traction from another’s brand.

  3. BC was supposed to be a cupcake, a sure win! Socal could start 1-1 or 0-2 with Sarkiffin and the Saturday Night Letdowns!

  4. How hard? Ask Alabama, LSU, Auburn or Florida, they do it every season. Of course the little guys on here will love it, they seem to think they are so superior. To bad people can’t talk football on here. So much hate must mean USC is that threatening to them. It must really $uck to be a bRuin.

    • I am always glad to discuss football here Steve. As a loyal Bruin, Sark does not concern me at all. If you feel that he is in the mold of McKay, Robinson and Carroll, then we will see how that works out. My guess is that he will recruit well for a few years (after all…this IS SC) but he will not be able to utilize his talent properly and Haden (or another AD) will be looking for another coach. Time will tell.

      • I agree. Seven Win Steve will not turn out as a great USC coach and were I you, he wouldn’t concern me either.

Another prediction – you’re gonna start losing some games. Mora ain’t all that either. When do classes finally start? Your season always turns there.

        • Classes start in 2 weeks. Classes starting will have less of an impact than who we are playing, starting with ASU and then Oregon on Oct. 11. Those 2 games will give us an indication of where the season goes. I have never bought into all the hype around the team this year. I thought/think we will be good but those that picked us to win it all were just looking to draw attention to themselves by being “out of the box”.

My guess is between 8-4 and 10-2 when all is said and done in the regular season. 10-2 would probably win us a date with Oregon in championship game.

Re: Mora. He is an improvement over what we had before by far. Under the last 2 guys, we would be 1-2 or 0-3 right now. We would not have won in Austin. But he hasn’t gotten over the hump and beaten Oregon or Stanford. I think we get Stanford this year, but Oregon looks to be on another level.

    • Yeah, we hate being undefeated. We hate having a great coach who is smart enough to let his OC call the plays. And it really sucks that the nation’s #1 QB just signed for early ’15 enrollment. It also sucks that we’ve easily beaten our crosstown rival the past two years. Yeah, crocodile tears all around.

  5. i see more and more Dummies are FINALLY poking their heads out of their bomb shelters!!

like Nubsie, they were silently reading the Discuss the Game bloodbath but were afraid to show themselves!!!
