How Long Till Lane Kiffin Gets New Head-Coaching Job?

  1. How long until Scott Wolf gets a new job? He likes to dish it out, but he sure can’t take it.

  2. We’re hearing SC has reached out to see if he wants to step back in after Siete gets canned.

  3. Lane’s stock is definitely going up.

I do think Scott threw him off of his game while he was here.

    • Kiffin thought wolf was a little turd and gave him the middle finger more than once.

      Dementia is some nasty stuff!

  4. New job? OK by me. I wish him well….just as long as it is not within a 10 mile radius of our beloved Fig. Tech.
I think he would work well with Mora.

  5. He’s a fool for never stepping back and reflecting on why it is he has left/sacked from three consecutive ‘HC’ jobs and if he isn’t smart he’ll actually believe the clippings others write today 20th Sept., instead of again asking how it is that he got sacked by both OAK and USC?

Oh for you ‘bel-air tech’ kling ons’ let’s see how your ‘HC’ does moving forward and more accurately how he acts when the ‘bruins’ lose…Mora is so composed …not..

  6. He foolishly chose not to sit out this year and reflect on why he has failed in three seperate instances to produce as a ‘HC’ (regardless of his not being sacked by TN).. he chose not to and regardless of what he ‘thinks’ of himself he hasn’t the ability to factually ‘step back’ and ask ‘..how come I lost those jobs?’

He’s a great assistant and nothing wrong with that – he’d be well fed to meet w. Coach ‘O’ and hear what happened from Coach ‘O’ after he (Kiffin) was sacked.

    • It can be a good learning gig for him. The agent for Saban/Kiffin put it together, because he knows both men, and could see it would serve both men’s needs.

If Kiffin is too busy to reflect a little for an hour a week, it just means he’s not a learner, which is what it seemed like during his HC regime.

However, if I were Kiffin, and I read your suggestion about meeting with Orgeron, I’d email you my thanks. Excellent idea for someone who wants to learn about how he was perceived, and how he affected others.

  7. Lane is exactly where he needs to be. Coordinator. He loathed the head coaching stuff that’s so necessary win.

  8. Bama rolls up 645 yards & 6 TDs today in no small part because they have 75 players on scholarship. Lane was 28-15 at SC with 55. I was on the Daily Trojan staff years ago. The alumni politics around football was just plain stooopid.

    • Kiffin doesn’t have to tackle any other problems but offensive strategy. The man who tackles those problems is the most organized coach in CFB.

Kiffin is working with the #1 recruiting classes for about 3 of the last 5 years, and no lower than #3 for the other 2 years.

He can proceed with all his complicated play naming and motion, etc, because his players are almost all experienced.

He doesn’t have to work around a deficient offensive line.

He was a crummy head coach. Part of the problem was his imbalanced commitment of time to the offense. Part of it was insularity. I won’t go on. No matter how supportive the alumni would have been, he would still have been a crummy head coach.

I wish him well at Alabama. He is getting a second chance to watch a very capable head coach–and will probably learn more now, having tried head coaching himself. I hope he soaks it all up.

Yes, USC followers are quick to develop unrealistic expectations, in light of the roster issues. However, that does not erase the fact that Sark and Wilcox did not prepare well for BC, and were not ready with in-game answers.

It IS a coaching issue if the players don’t perform their assignments with any regularity, or try to take on other assignments that don’t belong to them. As Belichick tells his players, “Do your job.” Good coaches make sure the players know their jobs in the situations that WILL come up, and in the situations are reasonably foreseeable. Good coaches make it clear that the top priority is to know that job, and do it. Mediocre coaches fall short in making sure that their players have learned what they need to know.

It was not encouraging, but it was one game. I am eschewing generalized criticism until after OSU, ASU, and AZ.

  9. To be honest, I no longer think Kiffin was so bad after seeing Sark play calls during that dreaded BC game.

    FIRE SARK NOW!!!

    • I have said similar negative issues about Sarkisian, but he is not a bad Head Coach, he’s just “Really” bad at play calling and many times exceeds the scope of his talents !

If Sarkisian would just let the previous play caller “Clay Helton” return as the “Fulltime Play Caller” since when “describing” his position on the USC Team is as “Offensive Coordinator” then the Trojans would undoubtedly resume a “Better” Offense since Mr. Helton has been with the “Current” roster several years and since Mr. Helton has the “Greater” ability to determine what is best/better on Offense !!

Then let “Sarkisian” act as the “Head Coach” and continue as the “General Manager” and related duties such as a “Motivator” and keep the Team “Focused” and “Prepared” throughout each and every game/season !

There is nothing wrong with the “Head Coach’s” opinion and input about how each game is progressing, that is part of his duties. “Dominating” every aspect of the game is beyond the scope of Head Coaching duties and that’s where “Stupidity” exceeds “Common Sense” !!

So Manage the team and let your Assistant Coaches do their job to the Best-of-their-Abilities…

Additionally, “Clancy Pendergast” should have been “Retained” as he is superior to the current Defensive Coordinator and the results of that decision have been evident !!!

Here Athletic Director “Pat Haden” made the mistake of allowing the decision to let Mr. Pendergast go when Clancy had a great relationship with the current roster and was already doing a “Great” Job !

It’s all pretty easy once you think about it…

      FightOn

  10. HE will be a head coach someday…he is a good asst coach…those are the facts, whether one likes him or not;he took a job at SC few wanted and kept it a winning program when the NCAA tried to kill…just the facts.

  11. I’m dreading our next game because what Sark showed against BC was an utter and total lack of understanding of what a HC is supposed to do to beat an opponent and an inferior one at that.

  12. If the media keeps pumping Lane Kiffin up for every little thing that he does like they did last Saturday, then I would not be a bit surprised if he is offered a Head Coaching job at the end of the season. But knowing how arrogant he is, I don’t see him taking a challenging position at a University that has not won in a while.

  13. Kiffin’s problem is he is not a LEADER.. He has poor coaching techniques..
Kids do not want to play for him.. He’s a better assistant than Head Coach.
Wait until the SEC begins to learn his offense.. You wont be talk about Kiffin anymore
