Irony Of The Week

KIFFIN.ALABAMAThis week Steve Sarkisian answered questions about whether he should continue calling plays at USC after just three games, Lane Kiffin received all kinds of compliments from the national media intent on creating a revisionist image of the Alabama offensive coordinator.

Kiffin was named Athlon’s national coordinator of the week Sunday.

  1. Wolfie now has an excuse to talk about the Kiffer every day now. He’s in heaven. No reporting needed. Favorite target of all-time.

    • We all know Scottie would be much happier – and post more Kiffin updates – if Kiffin was failing at Alabama. Even though I’m not a fan of Kiffin, I wish him success… if only to keep Scottie focused on USC.

      • Wolfie thought his worst day was when Kiffin got hired by Saban. Now, Kiffin’s sticking it to Wolfie every week and making a high profile comeback nationally. Sark better be worried. Wolfie’s gotta take this all out on someone. If Wolfie can’t abuse Kiffin, he’ll try to desolate Kiffin II.

  2. …..and wolf continues to dominate the list for the “Ten Worst Bloggers”

    #1 for over a decade

  3. Ah, Scottie, you’re figuring it out! This is what the media does. Tears down an individual, then builds her up – only to tear her down once again. It’s a media thing. Sort of like how you used to dig at Pete when he was winning 7 consecutive Pac-10 titles. You’ve got to do it. You can’t just sit there praising a successful individual. And you can’t pile on someone who has recently been fired. I’m glad you’re finally hip to the media game…..

  4. Not surprising news, M. Lee has been too hurt to play in 2 of his first 3 regular season FB games.

  5. Good for Kiffin but you know any one would look good at AL considering 1. their rigged schedule and 2. their talent. It makes one wonder how Kiffin would do at say MN, IA St., IL.

  6. I don’t see it as revisionist unless they ignore all the bad press…they don’t.It happened. They do acknowledge what most have always known,he is a good asst coach, one can hear it on replays of old games, the compliments. The facts are the facts,to be revisionist history, one has to change the facts and report lies,so far I have not heard that.I am glad he is successful,I am sure Alabama is glad,if not, they fire people just like SC,WELL MAYBE NOT AT THE AIRPORT ,BUT THEY DO FIRE THEM.

  7. Media loves these phony redemption stories.

What is especially lame about this story is that Alabama is all about Nick Saban. He is actively involved in every phase of that program, including demanding that students not leave the game early. There is a reason why Kiffin is on the sideline — so Saban can keep an eye on him.

That is not Kiffin’s offense. It is Saban’s.

What is the biggest irony is that without Saban, Kiffin would have asked Philip Sims to move to RB or CB, and statue Jeff Corker would have been the QB.

  8. Kiffin had a great first year at USC Too.. Just wait until the SEC catches on to his play calling like the PAC 12 did..
