Pick The Score

It’s that time of the week again. USC favored by 12 points and ASU coach Todd Graham 1-5-1 as an underdog with the Sun Devils. I’m going to take the Trojans, 38-17. What about you?

    • Yeah, so they’ll be completely pissed off when they come into the Rose Bowl a week from tomorrow…. The opening line for that game should be interesting. big-time trap game for UCLA tomorrow night vs Utah…

      • Trap game? Utah? Them being on the road? You should easily win by a couple of TDs. Now if you had to make the trek to Utah in their rarefied atmosphere, as we will have to in the near future, it becomes a whole new ballgame. I like our chances at home against Notre Dame better than the Utes on the road…and that is a Trap with a capital “T”.

  1. I LOVE USC, however I am going to go with Arizona St on this one.. Due to the spread offense giving USC problems due to depth (guys will be tired), and having a terrible DC in Wilcox. I do not think he is very good
    BUT
    I HOPE I AM WRONG!

    38 – 35 = Arizona St

  2. I wish 38-17…I don’t remember SC ever containing option offenses with an even semi athletic q/b…the offense will be the best defense until they learn how to stay disciplined in their assignment to contain it…I figure 42-35…SC.

  3. ASU with backup QB and showed poor tackling against Ruins, SC at home continuing to improve, 38-27 SC.

    • Yeah, I agree SC should win. However, don’t underestimate Bercovici. He threw for 466 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 INTs against the Bruins last week. SC has a better secondary than UCLA, so that should certainly help. However, if you don’t pressure him, he is dangerous. All about SC’s front 7 getting in his face.

      • I think the ASU defense is still very vulnerable, at this stage of their development…..but the USC front 7 really need to step their game……and they should be getting Greg Townsend Jr. back from the chicken pox…. Chicken pox?…..

        • I had chicken pox when I was 15–which was really embarrassing when you return to school. Still remember the Rodney Peete UCLA-USC game when he had measles and still played, beating the Bruins at the Coli. (I was at that game…)

          • Rodney Peete wins award as Trojan with the best smile ever.

I’ll never forget the amazing rundown at the end of the first half – with the uncalled face mask at the end. That penalty would definitely be called today and who knows what would have happened.

          • How about getting penalized for bowing?…..Tony Washington was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after bowing to the crowd last night, and it will probably cost his team a shot at making the playoffs….Thank you, Pac-12 officials……..

          • The one thing all P12 fans can agree with is that we have the worst officiating in the nation. Geez.

          • Bowing is actually singled out for the refs as unsportsmanlike conduct. So the call was correct. If they hadn’t called it, Az kicks a FG. If the rest of the game plays out like it did, then AZ still wins.

          • Yes, I’m aware of the rule and that the call was the correct one…..heck, the Japanese right fielder on the KC Royals, Nori Aoki, should have been “penalized” for bowing after he made the lucky inning ending catch on the warning track in last nights game against the Angels

          • I know. …and there’s no rules against spitting or grabbing ones own crotch either. …

          • It’s ironic that we have players beating their wives and girlfriends, but that bowing is deemed unsportsmanlike. My 6th grade Cotillion instructor Mrs. Harve is probably rolling over in her grave.

          • It was a bad call (or a bad rule), but that penalty did not cost Oregon the game.

The Ducks have a lot of problems; they still had the ball at the end with a chance to tie or win.

Arizona made the plays that had to be made.

          • That game was to Oregon what the USC game was to Stanford: the team that made the least amount of mistakes won the game. Mariota typically handles the ball like a loaf of bread. It was only a matter of time…

          • Bet wise-ass Tony won’t do it again, assuming he is physically able to play following all the gassers that he probably had to run.

          • I stand corrected. I was at that game, and you’d think I would remember the venue… I also clearly remember the following year at the Coliseum, when Alfredo Velasco’s last-minute FG attempt hit the crossbar and the game ended in the last-ever tie in the series, 10-10.

  4. 44-28 SC. Gotta love the crazy P12. Anyone’s race right now, except maybe for Colorado and Oregon State. Anyone else going to be watching about 9 hours of football tomorrow (Stan-ND 12:30, SC-ASU 3:30, UCLA-UT 7:30)?

    • I’ll be watching..might be a good excuse to hole up over at Tilted Kilt for a while…

    • Starts off with GameDay at 6 am. Will also squeeze in some ALA/OLE MISS (I think the Rebels have been doing some cheating lately), MSU vs NEB and LSU vs AUB. I predict a Pac-12 sweep. It’s a great mixture of teams this season and some strange outcomes are clearly in sight. Gonna be wild, but no Pac-12ers will make the final 4 IMO. Look for ALA, OU, FSU and god knows who else.

      • I agree. Don’t see any team in the P12 who is strong enough. Would take the luck of the Irish (no pun intended) for SC, UCLA, OR, or even Stanford to make it.

          • Off topic, I know, but how do UCLA fans feel about Steve Alford being the highest-paid state employee in California last year? According to Wang’s blog, Alford made $2.6 million in base pay, as well as another $65,000 in performance bonuses….

          • They feel a lot better than SUCCster’s must feel about Andy Enfield drawing a check for going 2 – 17 in the Pac-12. SUCC’s rich basketball tradition is ripe.

          • Santiago? PU? Encinitas? SOW?…..Are you guys going to let this dolt speak on behalf of all UCLA fans?……

          • ” Are you guys going to let this dolt speak of ‘BEHAVE’ of all UCLA fans.” Cigar Butt, you make it too easy for me. Nobs wouldn’t speak up on your behalf Elmer.

          • I never snuck in…I corrected my misspelling (thanks to auto fill) within 30 seconds of posting it…With your Commodore 64 and dialup Internet access, your monitor must be updating the information awfully slow. …by the way, Charles Lindbergh made it!

          • Now there’s a fascinating topic… As a fan, it’s what UCLA needs to do to bring home another banner (even though the verdict is still out on how far Alford can take the Bruins). As a California taxpayer and husband of a teacher, it makes my stomach squirm a little. Saban is making $7.3M at Alabama–I wonder how much the next state employee below him makes?!

          • I want my coaches like my college football national champions: You ought to earn it.

I don’t understand what Alford’s done to deserve it (or the extension).

Of course, I hope he will. Soon.

          • That is why some Bruins refer to UCLA as the “broken drum”?…You can’t beat it.

      • My head agrees with you about the playoff Jack, but my heart is still hopeful.

I think you are right about a sloppy game at the Coliseum tomorrow in a very high scoring game. I think my Bruins struggle with Utah again and prevail but a TD in the end. 24-17.

      • *** I predict a Pac-12 sweep. ***
Good call…I guess. However I think it is more likely that P-12 teams will LOSE as many games as they win this week. But, I could be wrong. Usually I am fairly accurate with my prognostication.

For example, if anyone cares, I can predict
the score of the USC-Scumdevil game before it even begins.
Test me if you must, but it will be to no avail, as It’s a gift!

        • I’d love for the Irish to kick ’em in the teeth, following ND’s easy game against UNC. ND wins these kind of games often.

But I still think ND will lose to Stanford tomorrow. That should be a great, tough game! Go Cardinal!

  5. As I always say, what is the incentive to entering this “contest.” Give us some incentive, Wolfie i.e. the winner gets to ask an SC player 10 questions a la SUCLA’S Dohn back in the day.

I know, I know, this will never happen

  6. Notre Dame 31 Stanford 13

Bet the farm on it. Stanford is favored by 2. I don’t bet on football, but I would bet my life on this game, if there’s only someone that would put a value on it. Free money. Free money. You’re welcome in advance.
