Sideline Antics Cont.

USC plays on the road this week but can we hope the towel waving and cheerleading on the sideline will cease for the next home game on Oct. 18 against Colorado?

  1. I’ve noticed that all these kids who are doing the cheer leading have clean uniforms i.e. they don’t see the field.

  2. From where I sit in the Colosseum it was hard for me to see these antics. All I saw at times was a bunch of yellow towels being waved, but after watching this photo this is embarrassing. Is this what USC football has come to under the watchful eye of Haden and Sarkissian, orchestrated celebrations? Pathetic!

  3. I didn’t notice it during the game, and I still don’t understand what the big deal is. Wolf makes it sound like these guys were doing the “YMCA” dance all night long. Towels were being waved? Oh, heavens!

    • oh, it’s bad. not only did wolfman comment on it during game, a trOXan buddy of mine watching on TV texted me about it. these guys look like walk-ons, and Quite Honestly, they are all white and look kinda scrawny, like back up punters, and they are hopping up and down like Brownies and waving the towels around, but not whirling it around like a “terrible towel”, more like a clumsy cheerleader doing her pom-poms. and they’re giggling and laughing (think cast of Revenge of the Nerds)…..like i said, it’s bad. the trOXans who saw it on TV were mortified.

      • Well at least somebody was having a good time. And, unlike me, they probably weren’t allowed to get drunk before the game.

          • if in contradict myself, very well then, i contradict myself!! we Cadre are multitudes.

it looks forced because they are doing it at incongruous times, like in between random plays when usually only cheerleaders are really cheering, BUT they appear to be having a really FABULOUS time!!! you really have to see it to appreciate how weird and wonderful it is.

ps i saw my trOXan buddy for lunch today and recounted this string, and he said “did you mention i emailed you about it???”

          • So that was YOU hogging all the peanuts earlier today at Five Guys????……A parade of elephants almost died because of you and your buddy gorging down those goobers by the crate load!!!… show some restraint!!!!

          • You mention your “troxan buddy” a lot. When is he going to get himself a Disqus ID and take part in the Wolfman’s blog circus?

          • CONFUSED AGAIN!!!!……..go back to bed! Better yet, take a week off and come back with fresh material

  4. I watched the game on TV. Supposedly these players are getting the crowd into the game and showing spirit. From looking at comments it appears that the crowd only sees a bunch of towel wavers. Unfortunately, TV keeps going back to these guys prancing along on the sidelines which is not a good look. I hope Sark comes to his senses and doesn’t require this to continue. In no way does it represent USC football and what Trojan spirit is.

    • seriously, they get ALL EXCITED when they are shown on the screen, they’re pointing at the jumbotron yelling “look there we are!!!” it just looks awful, and I’ve found myself thinking are they really football players, or are they just dressed like football players?

      • Maybe this is one of those on-the-field fundraising tactics that Wolf was complaining about.

        • Then why do they all point at the same time, and begin to wave their arms, as if saying “look there we are!!” Painting in the direction of the jumbotron? I’m sure you don’t stare at that screen all game, I know I don’t at the RB.

  5. I don’t see anything wrong here. I mean, guys on the field aren’t cheering. Fans aren’t cheering. SOMEONE has to keep pretending SC’s decent.

  6. which brings up the lack of leadership on this team…if Fata-Luga or Lendale were on this team, they would have the guts to tell the coach “Man, this looks STUPID!!” but on this team, they just shrug cause they know Siete will bite their heads off, and bash them in the press if they open their mouths.

  7. EMBARRASSING! Genuine emotions & excitement is one thing, but these primarily walk on players were jumping up & down all game long and it really takes away from the positive energy which comes from spontaneous team energy. Seriously this type of choreographed energy looks silly & takes away from our great tradition….please coach Sark, stopped the ridiculous antics!

    • Don’t be such a grouch!! I thought they looked super cool when they did *The Lawnmower*. I really hope they make the trip to Tucson, heard a rumor they have a new move inspired by *The Cabbage Patch*.

While the Clown College offense is dry as dirt, the playbook is wide open for the sideline walk-ons’ dance party!! Hey-OOOOOO!!!

  8. I noticed at the Oregon State game sitting right behind the bench and thought it looked stupid, but on TV for the ASU game it was really bad. Clearly these guys are walk-ons, but there should be more pissed off guys getting in other guys faces about the bullshit. Now, if we were 5-0 then no one would care…

  9. I think they just ran out of white cardigans for the cheer boys but do to sanctions, had plenty of squeaky clean football uniforms.
Re: Siete, has St. Pat realized yet that Steve probably won’t get to Siete?
