Steve Sarkisian Has Still Not Called Oregon State’s Mark Banker

Remember when USC coach Steve Sarkisian said he would call Oregon State defensive coordinator Mark Banker after Banker accused the Trojans of employing cut blocks that caused Beavers lineman Noke Tago to be lost for the season?

Well, Banker said Sarkisian has still not called. And Banker not only went off on Sarkisian, he took a shot at USC offensive line coach Tim Drevno too, according to this Oregonian story.

Banker: “If this was the NFL, two things I think would happen. No. 1, they would get fined for it because of where they targeted that block. And No. 2, somebody would probably go rough the guy up a little bit — not the center, either. Probably the offensive line coach. We’re not going to get into that.”

  1. Sark, Kiffy #2. Why should Sark tell the truth when it’s so much easier to fib. Three Dog Night comes to mind.

    • Three Dog Night – We talking about the song “Liar” or “Try A Little Tenderness”? Don’t say you are going to do something if, in fact, you are not. At this point, it will be interesting to see what happens when next these two teams meet, assuming Sark is still the coach.

  2. Sorry Scott. Pretty sure Coach Sark has more to worry about than soothing some butthurt coach’s feelings. He said he’d reach out. He didn’t say when. Maybe it’s none of your damn business and between 2 coaches?

    • It’s a matter of Sark’s integrity. Sark has none. Sark is soooooo incredibility busy Sark can’t spare five (5) minutes to call Coach Barker and clear the air? If that were the case SUCC might be 5 – 0.

  3. Siete is a liar. he claimed, after reviewing the cheap shot in slow-mo from 3 angles, that the hit on Tago was “incidental”. the only creature with memory longer than an elephant is a football coach. there will be payback. either in this life, or the next.

and WAY TO GO, wolfman!!! most beat writers are basically cover up artists and apologists for the home team but your journalistic integrity in following up on these stories is admirable!!

the Shaw scandal, the Xmas bulb hemets, the cut blocks, NOTHING gets by you!! and you actually FOLLOW UP and hold people accountable!!

    • Says the idiot with the extra long nose. I’m sure a ruin fan would appreciate the nose…..ouch!

  4. Hey wolf, I’m sure you would be the last one of find out….give it some more time……Is it tool time yet?

  5. As it is, pUSC will indeed be accomplishing something with that sorry D and OL if they go 4-3 the rest of the way. And yep, that would be Siete’s magic number. Sarkiffian sounds about right–just like his predecessor–liar.

  6. They’ve already communicated their thoughts through the media. What more is there to discuss?

And the only ones interested in this topic are the usual negative SUCLA threesome (or are there 4 dudes?) who live for anti-SC news (weird, huh), and of course our full-of-positive life, Scotty.

    • It is truly all their pathetic lives revolve around – ever notice they have knowledge of anything specific to ucla – history, buildings, roadways, nothing – come to think of it looking at the microscopic fan base the NY Times noted bel-air tech has it is amazing seeing how they’re terrified to go anywhere beyond where Obama didn’t go this morning…westside limousine libs…….obama……lattes…..

      • Gosh Otis, UCLA has 11 competitive NCAA tournament basketball NC’s; SUCC’s has zero.

        God Bless Vodka, uh Otis.

    • Jersey, I’m so sorry not to subscript to the usual SUCCster RAH-RAH SUCC FB fantasy fiction. No doubt in medieval times you’d probably be a Dominican Friar selling Papal indulgences to fools for dead relatives.

  7. Suckisian is the 2nd biggest puke in coaching right behind Goat Kiffin … like Banker says someone should punch that doughboy

  8. A coach with class wouldn’t allow this type of blocking scheme to begin with even though it IS considered legal. A coach with class would have called the head coach to apologize. Sadly, USC’s current and former coach have no class. John McKay despised Stanford coach John Ralston

    • Agreed. It would be smart, if nothing else, for Sark to keep his word and make the call. But no need to drag John McKay into this one. For the most part, he was admired and respected by the college coaching fraternity. And, although he was plenty tough on players when he thought they needed it, he was there for them when they hit rough spots later in life.

      • McKay hated Ralston, he said as much in his book. You may not like it, but that’s the way it is. Sark and Kiffin are classless buffoons.

        • As you know, I’m no Sark fan,

But since USC obviously has no plans to change its OL blocking tactics, why call up a coach and apologize? Sark should have never said as much, that he would call up a coach, to the media. I don’t get that.

As far as OLs blocking low, I see it happening all the time to USC. And frankly, it always has. And it always will.

          • Thanks for adding some lucidity to this back and forth, J.B. You’re right — there was NO reason for Sark to promise he would make the call in the first place. My point is, simply, he DID anyway. Now, unless he makes the damn call, critics are going to ask why he’s had the change of heart (and, when he decides to waste more time on this by rising to the bait again, he’s just going to add one more distraction to the long parade of distractions this team is already dealing with). Bottom line— either knock off the sanctimonious offers of outreach to unhappy opposing coaches or promptly make good on them.

          • Frankly Stinky, you and I both know SUCC’s OL needs to use CS blocking techniques to compete. Dough Boy’s refining those dubious blocking schemes in utter “gotta win” any way desperation.

  9. “Has still not called…” All types of wrong with that headline. Hurts my head trying to read it.

  10. “somebody would probably go rough the guy up a little bit — not the center, either. Probably the offensive line coach.”

Good to see the football team wants to branch out from just beating up students in Corvallis.

  11. If he does call Banker maybe he can ask him if he’s interested in a job for next season. Just sayin.

  12. Hmm I don’t recall Sark saying he was going to call Banker. I think you were supposed to call him Scott and slam Sark to him
