The Cup Is Half Full Quote Of Night

“We’re a Hail Mary away from being a top five team in the country,” USC coach Steve Sarkisian said tonight.

They are also some missed field goals at Stanford and Arizona away from being 1-5.

    • Sark’s statement is silly hyperbole. That’s who he is.

Scott doesn’t care for silly hyperbole, and states too often. That’s who he is.

Do you expect more uneven offensive games and a tired defense by Q4, or do you expect things to change a lot?

I expect more of the same. I’m not blaming the coaches for most of it.

However, there has been some noticeably poor coaching and teaching. Hopefully that will improve.

  1. That would be 2-4 you mean. Victories over Fresno State and Oregon State.

As it is we are 4-2 however. Its bad to really get into woulda couldas.

  2. haahaa! I could not imagine what would happen to this team if it played Alabama or Baylor my god..

      • I agree with the TrojanFan3.0. I think we would do really well against Alabama right now. We know their playbook in and out, remember.

    • You apparently don’t read Scotties Daily Pearls of Wisdom. This is from yesterday, and I quote:

“Bottom line: USC beats top 10 teams but loses to teams it is favored over by double digits.”

      There you have it……

  4. Should have beaten ASSU
    Should have lost to Arizona
    So it evened out

Meanwhile, a win against Colorado, and then to Utah, and the following week to Washington State. Then a bye before getting Cal.

These are all winnable games, and SC probably will be favored in all of them (except perhaps Utah at Utah). So 8-2 looks like a strong possibility before playing SUCLA and Neuter Dame.

  5. My math, logic and English struggles to understand what is hall full, while I struggle to figure out whether Oregon State or Fresno State was only a field goal away from a loss…

  6. Breaking News: Football is a game of inches.

USC is a series of plays from being 6-0 and finishing 12-0 and then getting murdered by a good team. There’s no shame in bringing home another Emerald Nuts bowl championship with a team short of 30 players. It’s amazing that they’re winning anything with their best players not being able to ever take a rest in a game.

    • Most people don’t realize that the recruiting sanctions do have a adverse affect. Sounds like beating a dead horse. But it It’s just a fact not having enough players is going to put some restrictions on how coaches run their practice. I thought replacing Jonathan Lockett with Justin Davis was a good move. Davis might have distracted the AU field goal kicker enough to push the kick to the right near the end of the game.

      • You’re right about the sanctions. Still, I don’t think I’m wrong about the coaching and teaching.
