Another Steve Sarkisian-Mark Banker Feud Update

There was an odd moment at the end of last night’s press conference. USC had informed some media that Steve Sarkisian would address Oregon State assistant coach Mark Banker’s comments that Sarkisian never called him about those controversial blocks when the teams played.

“I left him a voicemail,” Sarkisian said. “I moved on.”

A reporter asked when he called Banker and Sarkisian did not provide a direct answer.

“I moved on,” Sarkisian said. “I tend not to get in conflicts with assistant coaches from other teams.”

Why Sarkisian declined to say when he called Banker makes one wonder if he really called? And Banker accused him of not calling Beavers coach Mike Riley over another matter.

If you think Sarkisian is right to move on, this would not be discussed today if he had not volunteered that he would call Banker in the first place.

  1. Who gives a CRAP about a crappy assistant coach from a crappy oregon school Wolf???

I have MOVED ON too, so should you – talk about Kiffin or something.

I’m savoring the glorious victory from last night and relishing in SCs future as they grow – Wilcox is the only big question mark, in my mind.

As for the Ruins, well – probably we will see them tone it down around here after getting Squashed in the Rose Bowl. (As predicted

    • The true Trolls will just Troll On obnoxiously!

They have always cared more about USC than they do about little gutty winning anyway and now that ucla is losing and not even in the top 25…They need time to regroup and get nasty.

  2. There are a lot of story lines from last night. An enterprising reporter might choose to run with one rather than grinding axes.

Scott’s worst trait as a reporter is insulting his audience. He assumes they need to be reminded of old stories over and over. Critical audiences only need to be told once. Once you’ve made a point, move on. Lingering on it makes you sound incompetent and that you have nothing new to write.

Sark blew this one. Scott keeps blowing it.

    • This is why Wolf is the Perez Hilton of sports reporting..
He has to Diva the story into a conflict!

  3. It’s an old Wolfie-promoted story that never got legs because so many of us never gave a crap. Still don’t.

  4. Your fixation on ‘Mark Banker’ is telling Scotie or another way of putting it is that it has the bouquet of that WeHo torch song “Strangers In The Night…What We’re The
    Chances…Lovers At Versailles…Exchanging Glances…”

  5. Any coach who says to another coach that somebody should “go rough the guy up” doesn’t deserve a call back. Thanks Sark for acting like a professional and moving on.

  6. How about asking Sark about how much it cost to get the refs to swallow their whistle on that clear roughing the kicker penalty. That game was gift wrapped by the officials.

    • That was a clear acting job. The kicker immediately grabbed his leg and then started pointing to it for the ref… and then jogged off the field with no effects. The replay showed no contact. Obviously Arizona practiced these situations to sell the no-contact.

I’ve seen more contact between UCLA coaches on the sidelines.

      • He clearly was grabbing his leg and contact was made. Penalty. Unless Haden and Sark whine at the refs. They handed that game to SCCC.

        • No contact was made. Of course, if the UA kicker would have leaned forward a few inches more to make the contact like the UCLA kicker did against Utah, he would have gotten another kick.

        • Wilted Dynasty: you must have been making a Five Guys run when they showed the replay as it clearly showed no contact.

        • Hey lunchbag is that the reason OR smashed the 8yl% out of bel-air tech Saturday night?

    • If you had even a scoach (sp?) of credibility… that went out the window with your panicky inane observation. On a scale of 100 for acting ability, it would score a minus 5 at best. We are aware of the pain you must be feeling over the Oregon thing, but please keep it in your house. We don’t care in addition to the fact that you are not welcomed here. Even Bucket would probably agree that you are one ‘Hombre Ciego’ when it comes to any form of objectivity.

  7. I think Mora should apologize to his DC, Ulbrich, for lovingly cuping his face in his hands along the ucla sideline. Creepy stuff. Never seen that before. I’d say they need some further bonding, however.

    • Scottie attempts to create drama by stating “let’s see how USC response when faced with adversity.” UCLA clearly can’t handle the pressure of being in the national spotlight and has wilted away.

      • RB, 11/22/2014. We own the victory bell until SUCC scores more than 14 points.

        • Don’t forget that UCLA has been ranked ahead of USC in the polls for 18 consecutive weeks…err… was. That’s the biggest accomplishment of the Mora Era. And he’s the best coach UCLA has ever had, and that’s not a joke.

    • He was teaching him a new tackling technique. None of the other methods were working.

  8. I am glad to know that Sark cares about Mark Banker as much as I do, which is not at all. Banker needs to move on. I am sure this wouldn’t have been an issue with him if Oregon State won.

  9. Sounds like you are calling Sark a liar. That he didnt actually leave Banker a voice mail? You need to be careful with your inferences.

  10. Mr Wolf, you have to let the air out of the tires on this one and move onto something fresher, like almost anything.
