Phil Steele came out with his midseason All-American team today. I could talk about this nefarious trend of midseason All-American teams (thank you click-driven Internet!) but I will focus on Leonard Williams being a first-team selection and Javorius Allen making the second team.
Even more perverse, Steele does a midseason all-Pac-12 team. Williams, Allen, Hayes Pullard and Su’a Cravens made the first team. Nelson Agholor and Max Tuerk made the second team.

Then I look at the list, and see that Allen is on the third team, which is not the second team.

I had no idea Phil Steel was a Football Coach or Scout or anything other then your average Joe with an opinion. Why does his name keep coming up? Is it because he owns a particular publication ? I don’t get it ! A Chimp could gather the same names and put them out for mid-season All American list, what’s the difference ?
