Here’s my story on USC’s 56-28 rout of Colorado. The offense was happy it looked multi-dimensional with the deep passing game finally working.

scotty what is your take on the PI penalty vs. ND? The Irish fans are having fits and screaming on their boards, it looked like the right call to me and even Holtz said it is correct. they basically lined up 2 guys who pushed the FSU defenders out of the way so the 3rd ND guy could catch the ball and score—which is an illegal pick play..any ideas?
Bush Pushed so I’m not complaining – it’s understood ND ran same pick play in the first half and FSU complained, hence the call at the end.

If the receiver had stayed slightly behind the line of scrimmage it would have been a legal play and he still would have scored. It was poor execution and the correct call. And, I was rooting for ND over FSU as the lesser of two evils.
I don’t care for FSU and was, at first, out of my chair thinking it was a terrible call. However, upon review, it was definitely an illegal play. Fisher and crew were smart enough to alert the refs to the same play in the first half.
