If I Were Coach . . .

I would have moved Max Tuerk to left tackle and Toa Lobendahn to center in the wake of Chad Wheeler’s injury.

  1. This is seriously the funniest blog on the internet. “If Scott Wolf were coach…” That’s a great punchline.

    • Its easy for Diva Wolf to give coaching tips from the sideline. It would make sense if the Perez Hilton of Sports reporting played football before..

  2. Wolf would be better than Sark…but that is not saying much. At this point scores of coach from local high schools would be better than Sark!

  3. Can Toa long snap? For once, do your homework and tell us.

Tuerk hasn’t been able to learn long snapping into the shotgun since he enrolled.

    • Max can’t long snap because he’s holding the ball wrong when he sets up. Can’t the line coach teach him the proper way?

      • The kid has really long arms…..he is better suited to play LT, but there isn’t anyone else far enough along with the experience that Tuerk has……

  4. Of all of the criticisms of Sark — play calling, time management, “strateragy,” scheme, fitness to be a head coach — he and the staff are generally pretty good at finding the appropriate positions for players.

He isn’t burying Allen on the depth chart, running Baxter and Butler out of the program, forcing Kennard and Dawson to play the Mike, trying to make a left tackle out of Walker. He has been pretty good about moving players around and having it work. Tuerk is not a natural center, but he is smart and understands the offense and the line calls, so I don’t blame Sark on not moving him. And maybe Toa is the big, physical LT that has been missing since Kalil graduated.

  5. The fact of the matter is, Scottie, you’re NOT the coach, and you never WILL be the coach, of USC football, thank goodness….although I would agree that Tuerk’s NFL future does not include playing center……

      • I agree….. Once Cole Smith is here (son of former LA Rams center, Doug Smith), things should become much more stable at the center position…….

  6. wolfman, what do you mean IF you were the coach??

in my humble opinion, you ARE an UNNAMED asst head coach of this team!!!

all Kiff, Siete or O’Hadden ever do is REACT to your articles, opinions and insightful reportage!!!

the scheduling, the unis, who plays, what injuries are reported, the offensive schemes…..it is ALL driven you YOU wagging the DOG, wolfman!!!

    • Perhaps Wolf is a bit like the monolith in “2001”. Sark is just sitting there, looking at Tuerk and Lobendahn on his depth chart like an ape pawing at some old bones, but then the Wolfman appears before him, radiating his mysterious intelligence, and Sark triumphantly adjusts his chart!

Then he throws his chart into the air and it becomes a space station.

  7. If wolf were the coach, SC would finally have something that they couldn’t overcome in recruiting.

  8. Hilarious. For all of Wolf’s posturing about his professional integrity and impartiality, what he really wants is to be head coach of SC. The petty sniping and catty “I-told-you-so”s. 🙂 Too funny

  9. SC would be undefeated if Wolf coached. They clearly have the talent. I predict wolf receives his 2nd ban from the facility this week from Sark7.0. Ha!!

  10. That’s a great idea, since Tuerk is a LT anyway. Only thing is that the center makes the line calls, right? Maybe Tuerk’s experience pays off when he’s playing center.
