Discuss The Debacle

Is anyone going to be held accountable for this? I doubt it.

Where was the leadership? The adjustments? The inspiration? Were Washington fans right to nickname Steve Sarkisian “Seven-win Sark.”

  1. debacle? Hardly!

What I find fun is that Trogans here actually think SC will rebound just because. Siete may not even live up to his billing this year!

      • You are a sad person with no class. Your team gets completely whooped for the third year in a row, and rather than just saying, “Nice win, UCLA,” you make some bitter, immature, classless comment. I feel sorry for you.

        • You know what? Those wins are NOT legit wins because the SC teams that lost those games have been under the ridiculous sanctions that cut the number of scholarship players by ten for the last 3 to 4 years. It’s like we’ve been playing with about half of what other teams had. We’ll call wins real wins when we’d have the same number of scholarship players in the next few years. BTW, WTF are you doing in here? To troll all night? LOL!!!

          • Not a huge fan of the NCAA either and I fully understand your hate and disparagement for abiding by rules and regulations. There is irony I suppose, that your most famous football alum shares the same disdain for complying to the laws and principles most of us choose to live by. That’s why he is sitting in a prison in Vegas right now. There are unpleasant consequences to wrongful behaviors, i.e., sanctions on your football program (or being locked up behind bars). I trust you enjoyed the game as much as me. LOL!

          • As if UCLA has had no criminals in its athletics. Billy Don Jackson, Daryl Allums ring any bells?

          • Interesting comment. How did Pete cheat? He set up Bush’s parents to get free rent in SD? The ONLY tie to PC was McNair, and you know how that is going in court.

          • I’m as frustrated as you are about EVERYTHING. However, it’s a lot easier if you just take the L, lick your wounds, and move on to the next one. In the end, only scoreboard counts in sports. As fans, best to keep our nose down until it points in our favor. Nothing is forever. Fight On!

          • Precisely, Saul. I was over this game the moment I left the Rose Bowl. The 2006 loss was crushing because it cost SC a sure chance at a National Championship. I have experienced 7, yes 7, of them in my lifetime.

So anything short of a National Title does not resonate too deeply in my soul.

          • bet you weren’t making these excuses, when the pic 6 happened at beginning of game, you probably thought you were going to win, take your loss like a man

          • I think those sanctions are a long over-used, completely ridiculous crutch. You got beat. Period.

          • BAH! Wolf has documented many games where USC’s opponents used the same amount of players during the game….and they had the full # of scholarships.

Factor in USC’s superior recruiting classes, and they have the advantage notwithstanding any “sanctions”. Such a lame excuse.

  2. UGLY owns LA Football is still UGLY. You are right, and we should buy you lunch – What do you prefer: AM/PM Hotdogs, or Pizza Loca?

    • The lack of depth is a myth! The socal sideline was full of clean white uniforms! If they can’t step in and play quality minutes, that is a player development and/bad recruiting issue!

  3. Congrats to UCLA. They dominated us in all facets of the game tonight. We’re going to beat them next year.

  4. Haden should be held accountable. He promised a home run and struck out looking. Most AD’s are judged on the success of the coaches they hire, specifically in the major sports like football and basketball. Well, he has failed miserably at both and it is incredibly frustrating and embarassing to have to accept this as fans

    • Agree 100%.
Haden is an administrator not a football guy. If he has to stay then let him run the administrative offices [compliance, HR, whatever comes under that area @ SC] and turn the football operations to someone who knows what he is doing.
Coach McKay once said “there’s nothing worse than losing to UCLA”. You would think that the Rhodes Scholar would’ve understood what his coach meant.

    • Who could have foreseen what a complete debacle this hire would be (well, me for one, I hated the hire from day 1). So much of this is on Haden for hiring Sark. I think we would
be in better shape this year if Kiffin had stayed the HC. And NO WAY CEO would have let SC lose 2 years in a row under his command. This is just
nuts… I can’t believe how bad they looked tonight in all phases of the
      game. Just awful…

It will be very interesting to see if Sark can still sell this program come national signing day. If SC gets walloped by UCLA there as well, Haden will have officially pissed this program down the toilet.

      • Just got back from the game and I agree 100%. We get that pick six and then the f ucla punter bumbles the punt and we were set up to rout the f uclans but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, we let them back in the game and got blown out in the second half. Seven Win Sark must go!

    • I agree with all said, and have felt from the beginning Haden should have been much more aggressive challengeing ,either in open or behind the scene on the sactions.
Sanctions have effected the program from availble coaches on down to players. With the problems we have..What are the real solutions? I could see Haden leaving (he prefers green ties). Then what? Firing Sark? Won’t happen yet..change up the staff? Probably. Would coach O be a good addition? Realistically what changes could be made?… Change is needed to she our talent reach its potential.

    • Truth is, most Bruins fans were classy like Joe Glassy and we largely stayed off this blog before the game knowing full well that we we favored and far superiod. Hundley likely says goodbye 3-0 against sc, owning the Trojans in the process.

  5. At the game it was clear that no SC receivers were ever in the clear, except for a few times, and hence Kessler had to eat the ball far too many times.

    • At least 20. Hundley’s stats are very miss leading. He literally threw like 5 balls past the line of scrimmage, one of which was a pick 6. All those “throwing yards” were yards after the catch from that GD bubble screen that GD wilcox couldn’t freaking stop.

  6. If teams take on the personality of their coach, USC is intimidated, tight, confused, lacking in self-awareness, selfish and just not that tough or skilled. Congrats to the bruins. Great game! USC has a long way to go to be competitive with you. Mora is a much better coach than Sark and your players knew they had the victory in hand all the way. I had hoped for better for the Trojans but to lose to such a better team is a real eye-opener. Bring on the Irish! Hopefully, we’ll play much better.

    • Rumor circulates that Haden is leaving in early 2015. That might lead to adult supervision over the anti-Belichick until his contract is “wrapped up” somewhere down the road.

The problem is that Haden will select his own successor. He ought to consult the business school faculty on best methods. He won’t.

      • Mark Jackson has already been chosen to succeed Haden. Problem for Haden is now that USC is a shambles on the field, will he be comfortable leaving in Jan or Feb, as many have thought?

        • Do you expect big changes from Jackson? I know nothing about him.

If Haden’s going to be a non-intrusive AD, how would he rationalize any need to stay on? Hoping against hope that Sark is a better coach than he has so far shown?
Whoa, a Rhodes Scholar / lawyer should have learned something by age 65!

Haden gets Sark now. I recall a telling snippet of video of Haden behind glass, watching one of Sark’s “3 and outs” in frustration, and putting his head down on the table in front of him.

I’ve been there, too. After making a poor evaluation, one is stuck for awhile. Still, I wonder if Haden even tried to kill Sark’s OC role as events unfolded.

          • If Haden would lay down the law and tell Sark he’s got to give up playcalling and tweak his defensive coaching set-up, I’d be okay for now. But that will never happen. Haden’s not geared up for that.

I think Haden’s been very surprised to learn he didn’t know so much before he became AD.

I still he think he’s gone soon and Jackson won’t do diddly to switch things up much. Business as usual. We’re officially stuck.

          • Your assumption about Jackson seems right. I don’t expect a sharply revised approach. Then again, in a few instances, you get an elevated insider/subordinate, who surprises everyone by forcefully redirecting the enterprise.

I think you’re right about Haden, too. My impression is that he didn’t really come from a managerial-executive background, and he WAS surprised. Questionable hires commenced immediately, when he didn’t bring in a seasoned alter ego. As Perry Richardson Bass observed, after graduating from college, the cost of tuition rises exponentially.

I do think there is a good intellect in Haden, and I’m surprised that he hasn’t changed course. There have been comments about excessive drinking, which I dismissed, and now I wonder about that.

  7. My 11 year old son and I was waiting for this game. Frustration in the household. Talent for talent UCLA can’t hold scs strap

    • Clearly. Torgans overloaded will talent.

You suckas just got whipped for 4 quarters. And you think SC has more talent? Blind.

    • Hundley is better than Kessler. The SUCLA defensive backs looked all-world. And the SUCLA defense made it tough on the running game and rough on Kessler

So I disagree with your 11 year old son’s assessment.

    • My 4 year old son thinks your skill for college football talent evaluation resembles that of an 11 year old.

  8. Sark looked more intimidated and lost on the sideline than Kiff in his last season (didn’t think that was possible).

kudos to Mora who proved he really doesn’t care about rivalry issues by the way he let up midway thru 3rd Qtr. we all know he likes Sark. would Sark have done the same if the shoe were on the other foot??

    not sure.

    • Is that really you, Ugly, you sound reasonable for a change.

Yes, Sark would have eased up. And Mora did ease up, but it was not until the game was safely in hand in the 4th quarter with little time remaining.

I know, I was there, instead of with you on your oversized sofa and big screen.

  9. The key for USC is to learn and grow from this game and do everything they can to improve. Everyone wants to dump Sark but that isn’t going to happen. We have to give him a chance to build this program. Another season like this and a loss a year from now and the heat we definitely be turned up.

    • Your kidding right? USC did not improve all year. This was the same crap we’ve seen since day one. They are soooo ez to coach against. Where were the special plays or significant changes done to confuse the overmanned team?? There weren’t any.where were sound coaching decisions during the game??? Going for it on 4th and two inside the 10 instead of taKing the points in a 14-7 game????? You had to think of the momentum shift if you didn’t make it which is what EXACTLY HAPPENED. And the u call up the fricken middle?? Give me a break. Horrible coach. It doesn’t matter about a full roster this guy is not for this program. The games won this year was because of talemy never coaching. Make the change or this program will require years to return to prominence.

  10. Bruins making the playoffs is a longshot, only because we have to beat the #2 team to get there, end even then we need any little boost to make it. so ironically enough, we need the trOXans to beat the Rudys to boost our SOS. so i should be rooting for trOXans?

not there yet. i know it’s right, but it feels so WRONG.

    #CantDoIt

  11. Looked a lot like last year, yet everyone, especially dip###t wolf was clamoring for Coach o

  12. I always thought Sark was Dumb and Land Dumber,
    Guess I had it backwards.
    Can’t wait for the sequel.

  13. So very proud of LA fans on both sides, what I saw at the game was a great exhibition of sportsmanship. For the most part, players on the field showed the same class. As EK mentioned, some showmanship on the logo wasn’t really that cool, but the teams played with no below the belt type of punches.

    • Agree. And at least where I was seated with 95% bruin fans, they primarily screamed for their team instead of razzing SC.
I shook their hands and congratulated them on a superb game played by their team

  14. Sark is Kiffin Jr., he has brain freeze while the game is being played. Sark MUST GET A OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, he is a worst play caller than Kiffin, some of his calls tonight were SHAMEFUL. The game plan is Nelson right, Nelson left, Nelson crossing route, every defense knows this is how Sark attacks. SC has 6 very good receivers, yet every pass goes to Nelson, WHY? How many times did Cody, CAPTAIN SAFE, throw down field when the game was tight? Everyone knows when you spead the ball around the defense has to cover the WHOLE field, but when you throw to only one receiver, YOU COVER YOURSELF. The defense can then tee off because you are PREDICTABLE SARK.
IT IS MAX BROWN TIME, GET HIM READY FOR NEXT YEAR, FIRE SARK, PLEASE.
Speaking of Patty BOY THE GREAT KNEE PAD MAN, THE I WILL BEND OVER BUT PLEASE USE SOME GREASE MAN. THE CHUMP WHO REFUSED TO FIGHT THE NCAA WHEN THEY UFCKED SC, FIRE HIM TOO. PENN STATE, OHIO STATE FOUGHT THE NCAA AND THEIR PENTALITES WERE NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT PATTY BOY ACCEPTED FOR SC, BUT THEIR OFFENSES WERE MUCH WORST.
    RIGHT THE SHIP PLEASE.

  15. A real head coach would be too ashamed to even offer an explanation, just his resignation;a real head coach would know a mistake was made ,and he would state I am not really ready to lead at this level;I wish I were wrong;a real man knows his limitations;this does not mean he won’t some day be ready, but it sure is not today;even a win over ND now is not sufficient…this makes me sad;these players were not prepared and coached to their abilities;the alternative is,all the players were too over rated…all…

  16. The dropped near interception at the start of the 2nd half was the clincher – it was all down hill from there. Totally outplayed. Blocking assignments were ‘lost’ – receivers unable to get free or be seen by Kessler. Hundley’s audition for the NFL was perfect.

This was as humiliating a loss as I can remember – back to Fresno State in that bowl game over 20 years ago.

Sarkisian is a nice guy but he seemingly doesn’t know who to hire as assistants, how to prepare for a big game and most of all make adjustments for the second half.

Mora showed last year in that comeback against NE he’s learned a skill to change plans.

USC had better beat Notre Dame – we’re stuck w. Sarkisian for at least the next two years (2015-2016).

Worst is having to live with this for the next 52 weeks.

    • Don’t worry Otis, I won’t let you forget, UCLA owns LA Football. Bottoms up Yakoff.

  17. As long as little pat Haden is around we will be stuck with a coach who has never proved he belonged at a top football school. FIRE HADEN.

  18. The Trojans again were out coached. That time out by Mora when USC scored the touchdown was perfect timing. so was the other time out. And the Play calling by Sark was terrible. 4th and 2 on the 2 and you run up the middle. Tell me UCLA wasn’t ready for that. As for energizing these guys, we had a coach last year that got these guys wanting to play a whole 60 minutes. We need a head coach that is not offensive minded. Or we need a coach the will coach and not call the plays. Shot bring back Norm Chow, Hawaii is probably going to end their football program. And bring back Coach O. He is ready to come back.

  20. This loss was expected. UCLA is a very good team and very well coached. USC has comparable talent but a short roster and a terrible coach. I did expect at least a competitive game. It was anything but. The defensive coordinator for UCLA did a great job to put pressure on USCs very average QB.Stunts corner blitzes, removing Agelhor from the game. Where was USC’s adjustments? There weren’t any. Horrible defensive strategy coupled with stupid play calling decisions led to the debacle u saw last night. Could u imagone this idiot (sark) against Saban or Urban Meyer? ?? USC deserves better. Well start being out recruited as USC continues to struggle with good teams.MAKE THE CHANGE NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE. FIRE SARK#!!!! NOW!!!!!#

  21. I saw no pressure on Hundley. Best D-Line coach in the nation is sitting at home, and wants to come back to Troy! If Sark does not bring him back, it would be just like going for it, instead of kicking a field goal. Oh wait, that just happened. Outplayed, Outcoached = We need coach O

    • That was the sentiment on 710 AM this morning – a total lack of any passion at Howard Jones Field per practices – no loud booming voice of enforcement – more akin to a tennis match w. accountants crunching number a la sabremetrics – and yes the individual named over and over by callers and host was Ed Orgeron.

A HC and his staff are a reflection of a team – one wonders if any of them have actually ever been in a fistfight.
