Were You Pleased With 8-4 Record This Season?

SARKISIAN.MORA.2014

Steve Sarkisian defended his 8-4 record in his first season.

“I’m very pleased with the way we played,” Sarkisian said. “It’s easy to look at the win-loss record to say who you are. But there’ a lot of things we can learn from those tight games and we will better for it.

“Some of these defeats we’ve had will be good for us”

Are you equally pleased with the team’s record?

  1. No, we should have at least one more win, but for a first year coach, it could’ve been worse.

  2. Wolf is so narrow-minded, the point Sark was making flew right over his head. I think a career change is needed

  3. Sark was a missed Az fg, a brain dead Stanford coach and a decimated ND team from being 5-7. He got BOMBED by ucla and run over at BC and totally mis coached his team against ASU and UTAH to horrid loses. He’s a loser who won’t win at SC no matter how many 5 star kids he can con into committing to USC.

A 8-4 record at USC is unacceptable and fans eho are satisfied aren’t Trojans

  4. Well the defeat of Notre Dame did kinda work like KY for many fans, but the fact is we may have to change his nickname. How does Ocho-Sarko sound?

  5. Sark is pleased with SUCC’s 8 – 4 record and invitation to the Chicken Bowl. Mora’s not pleased with the Bruin 9 – 3 record even though we kicked SUCC to the curb a third straight time.

    • Because he is in his third year and ucla should be playing for a playoff spot. Jim mora disappointed because they still have letdowns at end of year and most usc fans are dissapointed because the team didn’t seem like they improved. Forget wins and losses you want to see improvement and steps forward not stalemate.

    • Trust me, SUCCee. 9 – 3 is the best SUCLA SUCCsters will ever get for, like, at least for two or three decades. You should NEVER, EVER keep your stupid hopes high for your miserable team because history proves they ALWAYS went through motions and didn’t accomplish anything meaningful. Understand???

        • You’ve been known to lay all kinds of stinky goose eggs throughout college football history, Understood???

          • Never like the recent mega SUCC Boston Massacre; UCLA has never EVER lost to a 41 point dog at the Rose Bowl. and didn’t SUCC lose a chance at a BCS Bowl game in a Choke 13 – 9 loss to UCLA. Understand realSUCC.

          • Yeah, I know. For the perennial, traditional, and historical losers like SUCLA SUCCsters those extremely rare and purely lucky wins against SC are the only highlight of the pathetic program for which losing is the norm, and winning is an anomaly. And you’re no different from all these other SUCLA lowlifes that consider phantom wins against SC are the only goal to live for. You just can’t put your goals at anything bigger and meaningful, can you? How miserable!!! It shows the world how low you are… LMAO!!!

      • don’t sell yourselves SHORT, Jetman, this is the Univ of Shouldda Couldda!!!

i KNOW you gueys can shouldda-couldda your way to 12-0…11-1 at MINIMUM!!!

        • Seems to me you bRuins care way too much about our crosstown rivalry. How else do you explain coming out so flat against Stanford. Your bRuin team hung your entire season on beating us and it cost you a shot at the CFB playoffs. Mora may continue to beat us, but who cares if your team continually falls short of being relevant nationally. Demand more from your team than just winning Los Angeles.

          • i agree with everything you said. classic trap game and we fell face first into it.

that is, i agree with everything you said, EXCEPT the part about caring too much about the rivalry…who do you think you are, El Siete??

            Excuse me, that’s El Ocho.

            #ItFeelsSoRight

          • That’s right, you better recognize El OCHO!….& If we lose our bowl game he’ll take over as Ocho Cinco.

          • we thoroughly have enjoyed the three consecutive butt whoopings, dats fo sho! and many more coming your way, big boy!!

          • With all due respect, that’s where you are wrong: We now expect to beat an inferior SC program–that’s become a given and a habit. We want the CFP and a national championship. And I’ll tell ya, Card, we’re a lot closer to that goal than the gutty little Trolljans. Another win with no national relevance, ranking, or decent bowl. Ouch.

          • That’s EIGHT Win Wonders to you. How close you are to CFP is going to depend on whoever replaces Hundley. You guys have some studs on the defensive side of the ball though (Jack & Vanderwhatever) but I doubt they’ll be around after next season.

          • I agree with you on that point can they raise the bar a little higher if just beating us is satisfying. They have some low expectations on that side of town. They had Hundley for (3) years No BCS Appearance,No Rose Bowl,No Pac 12 Championship , No National Championship.Oh but beating USC is there only claim to fame.

  6. Sure, losses to BC (still laughing at that one), ASU, Utah and the MIGHTY BRUINS, are fine. I mean, it’s not like SC won 10 games last year, so 8 wins this year was definitely a step up!

  7. 8-4 is not exactly what we alumni wanted but we were close to being 10-2 had we beaten ASU and Utah. I’m excited that we have a chance to finish at 9-4 with a bowl win. With most of our players returning we have a chance to be a favorite for the Pac-12 title next season and a chance to be in the playoff.

  8. The real question is whether Sark is also holding back his offense so he can be an assistant at Auburn down the road!

  9. Nothing to be happy or please with when the team doesn’t finish with a better record than the previous year. In 9 months we find out just how much of what Sark spewed this season was purely hot air.

  10. The talent was strong if not deep on this team. I saw the late game collapses as a coaching failure. Will he keep Wilcox? Certainly USC can do better.

  11. This year’s team was fun to watch. We only expected about 9 wins so there was no joyless fandome like the mid-2000s, when even the Rose Bowl was disappointing.

The BC game was a total flop. The ASU game stung but at least memorable. The Utah game stung but they deserve it, end zone pick and all. The UCLA game was nothing but a huge disappointment. Their 18-22 year class-cutting, date-raping, concussion-suffering young men simply outscored ours.

    • Your post is amusing, considering how many USC players have been convicted of felonies over the past decade (hint: many more than UCLA). Also, the “class-cutting” comment is ironic since UCLA has the second best football player Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in the P12 (second only to Stanforde), while SC is an embarrassing clown college-ish 11th. Yet another way that the Bruins own L.A.! No worries Sporty, you can always look forward to the possibility of getting within 10 points of the Bruins next year–something you haven’t done in three straight losses. Lose On!

      Stanford: 93 (up 3)
      UCLA: 82 (up 20)
      Washington: 74 (even)
      Utah: 73 (up 7)
      Oregon: 72 (up 8)
      Colorado: 70 (up 7)
      Arizona State: 67 (up 4)
      Oregon State: 66 (up 6)
      Arizona: 60 (up 7)
      Washington State: 57 (up 4)
      USC: 53 (down 4)
      Cal: 44 (down 4)

      • You am right. Me am dumb. All USC people dumb. Me become Bruin fan now. Already have lobotomy. Need extra lobotomy to be good troll like you.

  12. Could have, probably should have, lost the Arizona game.
Should have won the ASU game
Utah pulled it out fair and square at the end
SUCLA and BC had Troy’s number on the day they played SC

    So 8-4 is about right.

    Am I satisfied?– After experiencing seven national championships in my lifetime? (62, 67, 72, 74, 78, 03, 04) and six No. 2s (69, 79, 05, 06, 07, 08)

    No

  13. The team did exactly as expected. Stanford and ND were worse than expected, Utah was better, and the BC game was ugly. Three freshman starting on the O-line is absurd. That Kessler is still standing and Buck had a shot at the rushing title is a miracle. In 1.5 to 2 years, Drevno will have the O-line dominating. Sark will continue to be conservative, but we won’t give the ball back to opposing teams in the 4th quarter.

  14. I’m really excited. Typically, Sark gets a 7-5 record.. so going 8-4 is way way over the spread Seriously, beating ND, something Lame never did, is a big big big reason to keep him for another couple years and get some more 8-4 seasons and finish in the middle of the Pac12 while not playing Oregon or Washington. Can’t wait for the Emerald bowl, or the taco grande bowl, or the Cheetos bowl…. Bring on Rutgers….

  15. I would imagine when the record should have been 6-6 (if not for the lousy field goal kickers for Stanford and Arizona), 8-4 must feel pretty damn good, and knowing Pat Haden and his influence in many of the Bowl committees he will probably get a cup cake like he did last year in Fresno State in the Vegas Bowl so he can get his 9-4 record…I betcha!!

  16. An 8-4 record with buffoonery coaching means nothing, a 6-6 record with tough consistent play means more.

  17. Yet another year for the gutty little Troll-jans to finish irrelevant and unranked, headed for the Chicken Bowl. Sark, however, did overachieve with his landmark 8th win against that mightly, top-rated ND team. Keep this up and I might have to change my screen name to Sark and the Eight-Win Wonders. We’ll wait til next year, however, because I believe in Sark and his ability to get back to seven–especially with Oregon at Eugene on the schedule. Go Siete, go!

  18. Some very close games we lost. There were not really huge expectations for 2014, so 8-4, although not great, is ok. Of course it is a starting point, I believe realistically next year could be much better and should be with what we have coming back. Not saying whether Sark is good or not, the team will be better next year. And as time passes we will reemerge as the power in the Pac12, sucla will fall by the wayside as usual.
