Name From The Past

ESPN’s Joe Schad reports that former USC special teams coach John Baxter met with UNLV regarding its coaching vacancy. This would seem to be a perfect job for Ed Orgeron, if Orgeron does not think it the job is too small for him.

  1. If successful, Orgeron would use UNLV as a bridge to a better job. UNLV would be better off hiring someone who would sustain the program for 5-10 years.

  2. Not sure why people think Orgeron would be a good HC. He was horrible at Ole Miss. Got killed.

At USC, he was just what the doctor ordered (as an interim guy) except against ND and ucla.

What makes people think he’s right for a high profile gig? Great recruiters often don’t make good HCs and he’s never even been a DC.

  3. Coach O back at USC is the “Perfect Job” God only knows how much we need him. Win for O, Win for the Players, Win for SC.

  4. JB, Consider that Coach O took over a Trojan Football Team that was defeated by Wash State and destroyed by ASU during a year of Near Death NCAA Sanctions. Remember this is his FIRST YEAR as Trojan Head Coach. Coach O’s record: Defeats Arizona (something Sark couldn’t do in 2014); loses to a ND team with a crippled offense but a defense that thoroughly dominated USC’s offensive line , Chad Wheeler in particular; Defeated Utah (something Sark couldn’t do in 2014); Defeated OSU; Defeated Cal; Defeated NUMBER 5 RANKED STANFORD “with elegance”; Defeated Colorado. That’s a 5 game winning streak, JB, with a #5 ranked Stanford team going down late in the season at full strength !! You might be new to college football, JB, I’ve been here since 1960. The Smart Move is to reward Coach O with a 5 year contract and his coaching staff a 2 year contract THE DAY AFTER the Colorado victory.TROJAN MOMENTUM, already extraordinary, SKYROCKETS. UCLA is defeated with no Trojan injuries. Graf, Martin, Uko stay for their Senior year. Walker and LB Dawson have carrier 2014 All-American seasons. Wheeler bulks up. No humiliating defeats in 2014, JB. Just Championships…..

  5. That program needs to drop to Division II if they don’t want to invest the money into the program, because they have been faking it for over 25 years. And from what I understand they have High School type facilities , and at a Division I program that ain’t a good sign. Former Coach Bobby Hauk was a pretty good coach, but he’s not a magician , and if anybody thinks that High School Coach they are getting ready to hire is a better coach then Hauk, then you are a FOOL.
