Nelson Agholor Draft Stock

USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor is currently projected as a mid-to-late round draft pick according to NFL scouts I’ve talked to this week. Is that a good or bad thing for USC fans who want Aguilar to come back? His stats will probably go down next season with other receivers more experienced and would his stock increase?

  1. Stats get the pros’ attention, but if you are already on their radar then it is development that counts. And there is no question Nelson would improve with another college season

But he won’t. These college kids were so great at the kiddie level and high school level that they all think they are pros in the making

But the pros are to college as a Ferrari is to a VW

    • If you saw Nelson announce his commitment on TV, you know that he is very far from being an entitled ingrate.

Another year of CFB doesn’t necessarily cure all NFL-related issues.
Each player faces his own challenges, and each college offers its own
opportunities to get better. He’s focused, and he has two young NFL predecessors (and close friends) to consult. Hopefully, they’ll explain openly what they’ve observed–about USC and about the NFL. Then, he can make an informed choice about what’s best for him.

He’s got an immigrant mentality–he’ll get his degree now or soon in any event, and he’ll work his way into a worthwhile life. They don’t come much lower risk than Nelson.

    • I was amazed at the number of times I heard someone call him that this year, on TV or the radio.

    • Au Contraire most esteemed madam poster…It has been brought to my attention by those “in the know” that
Aguilar definitely will return to the fold…as part of a package deal with Cody Allen.

As Luther Vandross would say, “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now!”

  2. Agholor has lots of tools but didn’t show up against UCLA’s high caliber DBs, muffed a big punt in that same game, stepped out of bounds early against Utah, etc. in short, he’s only been the man for one year, played RB in high school, isn’t or hasn’t shown that he’d be a no.1 guy in the pros- he just isn’t a proven commodity. If you throw it his way he won’t really take it from a DB either ala Jaelen Strong. Not a 1st rounder YET.
