Oh Really?

Steve Sarkisian after tonight’s victory: “First of all (the season) was a total success. We won nine games, we were Holiday Bowl champions.”

Funny, didn’t the UCLA game take place just a little more than a month ago? I guess it is forgotten now. And Boston College, Arizona State and Utah.

  1. DVR’d the game and am watching it again now. It’s just incredible how bad Justin Wilcox is. The Nebraska Offense just made him look stupid. We are not talking Saban and Alabama here..or even Ohio st….an unranked Nebraska team. God help us vs. Alabama. I hope the refs enforce the mercy rule. Anyway, per Sark, he knows he is in deep sh*t and he is grasping at anything to make himself look good. If he thinks escaping the holiday bowl with a weak win over an unranked Nebraska team is a “success” then good for him. Don’t think alot of people agree with him, though. Again, I feel so bad for the kids wasting their talent under these 2 morons.

  2. I hope for Sark’s case Scott pulled this out of context. Otherwise, he’s even more pathetic than tonight’s performance…

  3. “woohoo! we just beat the 4th best team in the mediocre Big 10 by a whisker. We also lost to a crappy Boston college team , got run off the field by UCLA, blew a game to a poor Utah team…oh and also lost to ASU…but dang it this season is a success!! we are holiday bowl champs! OK we are ranked #25 with the talent level of #10 but just wait until next year! we might even win 9 games and get to the Belk bowl!! You think this is great just you wait!!”

    • Talent Level? Yeah, maybe #1 in that, except that USC has like 35 less players on the team than anyone else. Which has an effect that’s been showing in the 2nd half of every game.

  4. Yeah, he should have just come out and said, “Sure, we beat Notre Dame and Nebraska to end the season, but we lost to UCLA and blew a couple games against Utah and Arizona State, so we’re failures. Better luck next year?” Give the guy a break, Scottie. It’s the holiday season, and he won his bowl game. I appreciate that you need to salt your blog with some snark – esp relative to your Daily News column, which is a bit of a suck up. “Total success”? Of course not. Successful first year? Definitely. Room to improve? Absolutely. All would agree.

      • There shouldn’t be anything even remotely funny for you, SUCCee, as your SUCLA SUCCsters will have a truly humiliating experience in a few days, and you should know why and where it’s happening. But then it’d be business as usual since you’re immune to losing casually and often. LMAO!!!

          • uclaownszilch is a real sicko. He’s distraught USC won the Holiday Bowl over another team with five times the tradition of the little gutties. Burns him up.

          • Yeah, that’s quite understandable considering what kind of criminal institution you hail from. LMFAO!!!

          • So says the freak, who worships a school resembling more a federal prison, than a campus, and on lockdown 365 days a year from 9:00pm to 7:00 am. Those drugs bought outside your campus are nasty, keep taking them, you apparently enjoy hallucinating. It’s clear you enjoy attempting to make others laugh with your antics…yup, another graduate from Clown College. ROTFLMFAO

      • At 3am you were still up trolling a rival blog, pathetic! It must suck to have mental issues

      • Poor bitter. somber little gutty. Hah, hah, hah. USC won yet another bowl game. ucla getting ready to lose yet another bowl game – adding to your already losing bowl game record. Hah, hah, hah, Choker Troll.

    • In agreement of the class and tone of which you post.. Thank you…Nebraska has the tradition and class of one of the best programs in football.. Given 3 weeks to prepare I believed they would come to play… Watching replay of game.. Big plays both teams..we allowed them to stay in game with immature mistakes from freshman and some of our stars. Williams two straight 15 yd fouls led to TD. Missed coverage. Low 3rd down conversion.. How many dropped interceptions?.. And then some poor coaching. Announcers on espn noticed how exhausted our DL was fourth quarter as did the Nebraska coach and their line attacked …it was a good game with all the givens.. Our coaches need to mature for next year as do our players, we need more good players for practice and games…. Next year should turn what was a good year into what we Trojans expect, being in the hunt for the ring.. And if were not ,the real coaching problems will be exposed.

    • Hey man, if you watched this game, you know the team had to hang on against an inferior opponent. They had to play twice as hard because the dumb DC doesn’t know his head from his tail in preparing his players to stop the other side!

      • No doubt – it was Zona State/Utah III. Terrible ending. But they got the win, and it’s something to build on. 9 – 4 is not acceptable at SC, but it could have been much worse (Stanford & Arizona could easily have gone the other way….)

  5. SC was fortunate to win vs a Nebraska team that played Bo Pelini tough down the stretch; I actually figured SC to be out coached again,as usual; the players out played the coaches lousy defense game plan and what the heck was with punts, kick offs, etc…;it was a decent win and a decent season, not a total success by any logical measurement;Nebraska came to play and win, they came up short on 4th down, and then again on games last plays…this time SC pulled it out…finally.

  6. Is Suckisians ego as big as his gut ? Or is he just the insecure turd he looks like … success lol what a loser

  7. if they went 14-0 Wolf would be upset over the amount of time Jackson got in the game. Enjoy the day fool, next season is a long time away right now.

    • according to a source Wolf might accept the National Enquirer job. let’s cross our fingers

  8. Without Wilcox this team would most likely have finished with only 2 losses. That would have made it a good season. I doubt Sarkisian has the courage to fire him.

  9. You’re in bad shape Scottie. You really need the rest in the offseason so you can come back without your snarky attitude – good luck.

  10. Well…. Sark has to say these things, but he knows ( I hope ) that there are glaring problems on defense and with his DC. He should fire Wilcox today, BEG Orgeron to come back and coach the D line. Fire the d line coach, let Helton call the plays go find the best DC he can get. Even with all of those changes, I just don’t think Seven Win is a very good coach and it may not matter anyway.

    • 1) Firing Wilcox isn’t going to happen as ‘Mr. 3-Quarters’ believes him to be an excellent choice as DC…plus the unlikelihood that PH would allow it.
      2) BEG Orgeron to return? No way in hell! Too much ego..Too threatening. He has always been anti-O…not to mention that Ed O definitely would be an image embarrassment to PH and his cocktail party friends.
      3) Allow Helton to call plays? Only when pigs fly or P-12 Refs do an adequate job. It seems obvious that Ego rules all for Mr. Sark. Prime motivation…jealously.
      4) Agree that it may not matter. We will be better next year…but hardly close to our potential…e.g. What could have been. Sigh!

      • What is it with you SUCCster’s?; SUCC FB is always what it used to be, and/or what it could’ve been, but never what Sark/SUCC FB actually is.

  11. This doesn’t happen often but I think Scott Wolf just made a comment that is in agreement with the way most Trojan fans feel.

  12. Sark’s Washington team last year won 9 games

This year’s Sark’s SC team won 9 games

Time to call him 9-Wins Sark, which is not chopped liver

But it does not get me excited enough to go running naked through the streets chanting U-S-C, U-S-C, U-S-C.

    • “9-wins Sark?” Methinks “3-quarters Sark” might be more appropriate…and yes, that IS chopped liver.

      • I have to agree with that – Sark has got to develop a ‘beat down’ move. When you have the knife to the opponents neck – need to shove it in – then and there. This is what PC was so skilled at doing – finish off the opponent – take away any hope they have of recovery – don’t go for the tie on the road – for the win.

Steve had better hire a hard nosed assistant who tells him “Now! Leave no doubt nor hope! Crush them now!”

        • Like SUCC has done to UCLA FB the last three times. Oh well Otis, you can always “Clockwork Orange” JW’s dead body.

  13. 9 wins a total success. This is what my worst fear is for USC…… Sark keeps winning 9 or so. Not enough to get fired, but never in contention for even a division.

    • Give Sark a break, he’s usually good for only 7 wins so for him that’s better than a 30% improvement.

    • and then…it turned into “The Alamo”, part TWO! You’ve gotten your rear ends handed to you for THREE Straight years by The GUTTY LITTLE BRUINS! How’d that work out?

      Bring in the CLOWNS!

  14. Scott Wolf, you have my total permission to start treating Sarkisian as badly as you did Kiffin. This guy is a phony… he is buying time to hopefully get lucky beyond what he knows in coaching and his judgement of a good DC. This team had to play twice as hard as it should have to win this game. And that is because the head coach and his chosen DC are in over their heads in preparing & leading this team in games.

  15. a real coach would have said “we finished the season with two good wins, but we have some things to work on if we’re going to compete for championships.” That’s what a REAL coach would have said.

  16. The most difficult position groups in football for underclass men to play are along the offensive line and in the secondary.

USC rotated 4 freshman and two sophomores with no playing time prior to this season along the offensive line. Five freshmen (Jackson, Plattenburn, Lockett, the penalty magnet Hawkens and Lopes,a WALK-ON) and two sophomores (McQuay and Cravens) have played in the secondary throughput the season.

The only impact players on the D Line were Williams and Tavai, and the linebacker play was atrocious all season. Guys like Pelon, Felix, Temple, Sarao, and Bowman have no business seeing extensive playing time on D yet all did during the bowl game.

The only consistent skill players all season were Agholor and Allen with guys like Smith, Dixon, and Davis showing flashes but also disappearing sometimes.

There were epic fourth quarter breakdowns but maybe that had to do with the fact that the defense was exhausted due to horrible depth because of the sanctions.

That sounds like a 9-4 team at best to me and if not for two fluke plays, the Hail Mary vs. ASU and the backwards pass turned touchdown vs. Utah, this team would’ve been 10-2!

It was a complete success especially in regards to recruiting since talented incoming freshman know they can come in and make an impact right away.

As someone already mentioned, Washington tried hard to keep Wilcox and he has been looked at as a head coach candidate for multiple teams. Guys who can’t coach don’t garner that kind of attention. Let Sark and Wilcox have more time to work with this young team and let’s see what they can do with a full recruiting class before we start calling for their heads.

  17. The only program in LA that wins bowl games. That’s better than… well total mediocrity, which would be a good nickname for some other coach I can think of.

  18. I think what Sarkiffin is saying is: “I’m 150% behind this coaching staff” Apparently, St. Pat has learned his lesson and is saying nothing. He won’t have to answer questions about firing Sark until this time next year.
