What other option did SC have Wolfie? Ceasers first year wasn’t anything great. Give Sark a shot. SC can be atop the PAC in a year or two. It’s obvious now that no other PAC 12 team can win a natty. Tonight’s game wasn’t nearly as close as the score. SC has the chance to physically dominate like the Buckeyes did tonight. Congrats to Urban and the team. The first outright champs in college football. SC will be back where they belong soon!
Well said Matt. The Ducks run is over. Won’t they look nice in years to come with their fancy colorful uniforms. It takes a certain type of recruit to “flock” to Oregon because of the sweet rags they wear. Look at Ohio State. Winning with long time traditional uniforms and big strong tough athletes. I could not be happier tonight.
I wouldn’t say the Ducks run is over. It will be difficult to win a title for them, however. Mariota was probably the best QB they’ll see in a while. Without him, I don’t see them winning a title, but they still have a shot. They will still be a good team for quite some time. Sark better figure something out soon and get his ducks in a row (excuse the pun) because UCLA, ASU, Zona, Utah, and other schools are climbing. This season wasn’t exactly a success for us. We had no business losing to ASU, Utah, or BC. The significance of 2015 is so big, words can’t even describe.
They could have hired Gary Patterson who has won a Rose Bowl.

SC fan here, but even I can admit that Urban is a million times better of a coach than Sark. The USC brand will always recruit well, and yes, Sark can recruit. Will he be able to win a national championship? I don’t know. Maybe we should stop trying to replicate the Pete Carroll era by hiring every former Carroll asst. Alabama unsuccessfully tried this for years after Bear Bryant left. It didn’t work. We either get Pete back (which won’t happen because his Seahawks team is unstoppable) or we look for the very best available coach.
Urban is Top-Elite, but not a Trojan type !
Urban “leads” his teams as a very good Head Coach does, and by doing so Urban “allows” his assistant coaches to do their job, Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator, Special Teams…
That’s what a great Head Coach does !!
When a Head Coach meanders into something else of just being the “Head Coach” then that’s where problems arise !!!
Too bad that “other” Head Coaches see it differently and continuously try to re-invent the wheel, even as they see what does actually work !

Glad to see the ducks get hunted and hammered ! After going to the holiday bowl and seeing how a many duck fans came to the game and act classless …. I’m happy to see they got a look at their future !!!! And it’s not a “O” they hold above their head …. It’s a “0” for zero NC !!!’

I have been to Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Oregon, and experienced Ducks’ fans. All I will say is that a few miles south in Corvallis, Oregon, the Beavers’ followers say Ducks are the worst they have ever experienced.
So to see their football team show that they are nothing more than a circus-style gimmick, a fast-paced style designed to trick the opposition, is redemption.
And I noticed that the Ohio State defense was never rushed, they were well coached and waiting each time for Oregon to snap the ball, and then the Buckeyes enjoyed whacking Oregon’s quacking.
SC is the only team that can win a national championship for the Pac-12. And with this “Final-4” format in place it will be easier for the elite teams to win national titles i.e. one loss will not necessarily eliminate a school.
In case you missed it JW, Sark has patterned the team more like Oregon than OSU. And Wolf is hilarious. Last year, he was criticizing Kiffin for not running the hurry up offense and playing more like the Ducks.
As Jack B has pointed out, there are only 2 coaches that are sure things, Meyer and Saban. It was unlikely that SC was going to get Meyer, even if he had been available. And by the way, SC isn’t the “only” school that can win the NC. There are others. SC will get the best talent, year in and year out…but the jury is still out on the coaching staff.

USC hired an 8 or 9 win a season type of coach, kinda like a Bob Stoops of Oklahoma.I don’t think for a New York minute that Steve Sarkisian can out coach any of the elite coaches, like an Urban Meyer, Nick Saban , Jim Harbaugh..etc etc etc, and that’s why I’m angry and frustrated . Why can’t these administrators ever get the hiring process right ? It took UCLA almost 20 years to get it right, and now we have to wait another 3 to 4 years before SC gets it right!!!!
