George Farmer Fallout

Does Steve Sarkisian sound like he agrees with George Farmer turning pro?

“George and I met, and I gave him my thoughts about him leaving USC early, the pros and the cons,” Sarkisian said. “At the end of the day, he made his decision, so we will support him and wish him the best.”

Farmer was unhappy playing for Lane Kiffin and frustrated early this season with his role. I’m guessing he probably felt like he had put up with enough during his USC career and just wanted to start a new chapter in his career.

  1. This is a mistake he will later regret.

Wasn’t 2014 the first season he made it through without getting hurt?

    • Then it makes sense that he would give the NFL a try now while he is healthy. He could make a decent living in Canadian football, Arena football or NFL Europe if the NFL doesn’t pan out.

  2. Hopefully, Farmer can find a way to stay healthy and rediscover his prep playmaking ability. Pretty much a ghost at USC…so nobody really knows what his NFL potential is. Had one meaningful game in three years. Pretty fast and with good size but seemed to lack quickness and displayed only mediocre hands. An all Get-Off-The-Bus team guy for sure.

While he never did much at USC, maybe he’ll make a mark in the NFL. Maybe not. Not much of a loss for USC. While he managed to generate an awful lot of buzz coming in, SC always had someone better and frosh JuJu already looks better.

      • Personally, I can see why Farmer’s leaving. He’s a back-up or secondary WR going into year 4 with a former NFLer for a dad. If he combines well, he can get drafted and give it a go. If he stayed at USC, he might get hurt this spring or fall, making him look even worse for the 2016 draft. He can always come back and get a degree later if he wants.

        • Respectfully, I would disagree…..if he can’t crack the starting line up now, what makes him think that he can start at the next level….Maybe I’m guilty of being too old fashioned, as I think he should exhaust his eligibility, unless he is a sure-fire day one pick in the NFL draft….I’m curious what his NFL draft evaluation was, if he got one…..He will be able to show his stuff at USC’s Pro Day, but I don’t believe that he can participate at the NFL Combine without being invited, no?

          • Buck Allen couldn’t crack the 3 deep under Kiffin either – then O let him in. It’s not always the player keeping himself back.

          • Try and keep up idiot. The coaches didn’t keep Farmer down. Woods, Lee, Agholar, Smith and constant injuries did. Are you even a HS grad, moron?

          • I understand….it’s also about taking advantage of opportunities, which Buck Allen definitely did, and he now has a resume to back it up…..Farmer had the opportunity to have a breakout season next year, he decided to pass it up and now he has no resume to show what he can do, other then measurables, a Pro Day / NFL combine and a very small sample size of meaningful plays…I wish him nothing but the best,,,….

          • Never thought I would ever upgrade one of your posts. Too bad that one of the few times you stop talking mindless smack and post things as they actually were, you will be dismissed as nothing but a troll as opposed to an Encinitas or a Probation. Not to say that many of the USC regulars on this site are free from being FOS…but that is why most of our true fans are over on WeRSC.

          • I’m thinking he’s certain he’ll get invited because of his dad. Only he and his dad know. I’m sure he feels he’s an NFL talent who has just gotten unlucky with injuries, so why wait. I sense he feels he’s got nothing more to learn from USC, even though he’s got a lot more to prove. Maybe he doesn’t like school. That’s a deal breaker for many. Rationally speaking, he obviously should polish his game and stay. But he’s injury prone. So you could argue he may as well get injured in the NFL as opposed to college – where he has already been injured his entire career.

  3. Haha, I told you dummies this would happen a few weeks ago! Never doubt me. Rats fleeing the sinking ship…

  4. yeah, because all of his lingering injuries were entirely the fault of USC…..and why would his prior experience with Kiffin impact his decision today?…..the last I checked, Kiffin was in Alabama busy making Amari Cooper a 1st round NFL draft pick…BTW… why are you “guessing”, Scott?….has your pipeline into the team dried up?

    • Much too logical 8Krap – Scottie and his trolls don’t deal in logic (unless it’s Wolfian logic).

  5. Do your job! Stop asking the readers to provide answers. Get over to Heritage Hall and ask Sark all of your questions. And, see if you can ask George directly about his decision, instead of just repeating what you read on other sites.

    • Can you imagine if Scott used this writing style reporting world news? “Should Obama have gone to the Paris march?”…..”Should we lift the trade embargo on Cuba?”….”Was The Interview really that bad a movie?”

  6. The only question about George Farmer, is his ability to stay healthy. Because he has speed, size and lots of talent.

    • Unfortunately the NFL can’t afford to pay players who are always hurt. And there are lots of players coming out of college that are fast, big and can catch the ball.

I see Farmer going undrafted and signed to a practice squad so a team can evaluate his skills and propensity to stay healthy. Why waste a draft pick and guaranteed money on someone that might not contribute.

      • Not like George: 6’2″ , 210 and he beat DAT in a foot race. I agree with Fred on this one. Good Luck, George.

        • Ironically, that’s the problem with George. While bigger, faster and stronger than everyone else, he was also always hurt. To me, he never looked as quick either and never showed great hands. Was never the #1 guy. He’s got lots to prove that he never showed in college. More power to him. Hope he makes it, but lots of great physical talent in the NFL never amounts to anything.

I don’t think he’s worth anything higher than a 5th round pick, if that. As freshmen, JuJu Smith and Adoree Jackson, regardless of their size, are already better than Farmer – which is one reason he’s leaving IMO.

  7. So Scott….. when will YOU being starting a new chapter in your career?….and I am using the word “career” very loosely……

  8. BAD BAD MOVE GEORGE, YOU HAVEN’T SHOWN YOU CAN STAY HEALTHY A FULL YEAR, WHY WOULD ANY TEAM DRAFT YOU?

  9. “Put up with enough in his USC career” Scotty playing games. What he has done is be injured most of his career. It’s actually probably not a bad move because he will wow people at combine and somebody will take a 5th round pick on him. I don’t think he would have changed things much coming back for senior season. He has just as good of chance getting hurt again as having a break out season.

  10. Farmer should go, it would save USC a ton of medical bills if he played next season. He would get hurt again, guaranteed. A great athlete, but he has been hurt way to much to put with him any longer. Best of luck, perhaps all his injuries may be behind him but I doubt it.

  11. Welcome to the real world. While I wish him well, I also see a big “George who?” next year.

  12. Put Vainuku at inside linebacker. This kid loves to hit. I don’t care who he hits. He’s just going to hit!
