USC Morning Buzz: Ed Orgeron Replaced The `Intern’

LSU coach Les Miles hired Ed Orgeron as his defensive line coach and said the previous defensive line coach, Brick Haley, was currently an “intern” for the Tigers.

Orgeron sounded happy to be coaching again.

“I wanted to go test my skills around the country, but I knew when I got older that I wanted to come back home and represent the state of Louisiana,” he said.

He just didn’t mean Nicholls State when he thought about going home. Meanwhile, another former USC assistant, Joe Barry, was hired as defensive coordinator by the Washington Redskins.

  1. Good for Coach O, even though I’m upset that he’s no longer with USC. Hopefully, one of these days he can make his way back to us, where he belongs. Coach O will always be a Trojan!

    • Love coach O. He’ll always be a Trojan but says he wanted to end up coaching in Louisiana. Why would you think he would make his way back to USC when he says he’s already in the place he wants to be and obviously can’t get a head coaching gig anywhere?

The USC ship has long sailed for coach O, but he was a great DL coach and recruiter for the Trojans over a long period of time. Glad he landed at LSU. That job suits him very well.

  2. Sooo, the Agin Cajun is good enough for the Hat (who has a Crystal Natty) but NOT good enough for Ocho???

    Wilcox UN!!

  3. Only a low level loser would take a cheap shot at Coach O. But I expect gutter reporting on this blog, so “total success” on Wolfie’s part.

    • Why do usc alums love ed orgeron so much. It wasn’t the genius of ed orgeron, that made the usc football team rally in 2013. The fact of the matter is 2013 trojans were very talented, and when lane kiffin got fired, everyone was happy, and they started playing to their potential. It had nothing to do with ed orgeron. Ed O, is a guy, who completely underestimated ucla in that final game. And that is why usc got rolled. Ed Orgeron, may have good repor with Trojan alumni, but the guy is dumber than a doorknob. Just ask people at ole miss.

  4. Sorry Ed, but it’s a bunch of crap. Coaches are politicians at heart. If he was the head coach at USC he wouldn’t want to come back home and “represent the state of Louisiana.”

  5. My Dog is smarter than coach O. The most unsophisticated person to ever be employed by usc!

  6. It wouldn’t surprise me the least if Ed Orgeron returns to USC , because when Steve Sarkisian gets fired in the next couple of years, SC will bring in a REAL Football coach, and he will bring Orgeron back to where he belongs.
