Pete Carroll Is A Great Coach And Also A Lucky One

BART

If the legendary Vince Lombardi is remembered for one play, it is Bart Starr’s quarterback sneak for a touchdown to win the game in the 1967 Ice Bowl against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Championship game. As of today, what would Pete Carroll be remembered for? That some Packer dropped an on-side kick?

  1. This is the trolliest comment yet. Comic Book Guy Wolf will be remembered for feeding trolls for a living. Meanwhile, Pete Carroll will be remembered for his immense success as a coach at both the NCAA and NFL levels.

  2. I case you didn’t know Wolf, luck plays a part in life. It is called being at the right place at the right time. Preparation helps quite a bit as well. “the harder I work the luckier I get.” That is a quote from Willy Wonka I believe.

    • Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I heard that somewhere before. But I remember Carroll for the Bush push…But that wasn’t luck…I was cheating…but everyone does it!

      • You wouldn’t even have known it was a foul before that game. Bush pushed him but you can see it happen all the time in almost every game that is far more egregious.

        • Some of us are not idiotic when it comes to football rules, wind aided or otherwise! Many of us knew that you can not aid a ball carrier. You can’t push, pull, give a piggy back ride or tender any physical aid to the ball carrier.

          • Yea, good for you, but it happens in every game ! I as an official myself have seen it in just about every game I’ve worked! The Bush push on a scale from 1-10 was a 1! Tell me bright guy , how does the clock work? Can you give me some timing info? I’d very much like to hear it!

          • Well since you know so much about football , let me know how the clock works? Or how about the clean hands rule or the free block zone?

      • Haven’t seen any offense get called for assisting the runner by o ushing. We now have rugby style scrums, as long as the pile is moving forward.

  3. I can think of many plays that are better than “some Packer that dropped an onside kick” – how about the 2 pt conversion, or how about just for kicking tail, in general? one thing he won’t be remembered for hopefully are the comments from the one “packer” journalist that can’t say a single sentence on his blog without sounding like a complete squib.

      • According to Urban dictionary, a squib is an AFL player (or beat journalist) who meets the following criteria
        a) has little to no intestinal fortitude (guts)
        b) lacks intelligence without even knowing it
        c) lacks accountability
        d) is just a general moron

  4. I think he may be remembered for taking a touchdown underdog and kicking the crap out of a Peyton Manning led football team in the Superbowl or for maybe a beat down of Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl BCS Championship game or maybe the years of dominance over ucla and Notre Lame or maybe for taking a 5 win Seattle team and making them a contender in a few short years or for maybe taking a QB in Russell Wilson which not too many teams had on their radar and making him an All Pro or maybe he will be remembered for etc., etc. etc. …I am betting when his career is over with the onside will be a small footnote but maybe I’m wrong and Wolf is right here?

  5. This has got to be in the top 5 of Wolf’s most stupid comments and observations. Has to be.

  6. I’m playing the Chili Peppers’ “Under the Bridge” in honor of Scottie this week…. never a classy perspective for someone of Scottie’s experience and stature.

  7. Boy Scottie, you sound like a 7th grade girl who is really jealous of another girl. All you can do is sit here and come up with one snarky comment after another about Pete Carrol. Deal with it Scott, Carrol can flat out coach, whether you like it or not. You’re right, it was pure luck that after making some plays and driving down the field to score a TD to put them in position to try an onside kick and recover it, that Seattle scored another TD and a two point conversion, then won the game in OT with another TD. Luck had nothing to do with it. In the course of a game opportunities come your way, it is up to you to make the most out of them. Seattle did that and scored TDs, the Packers kicked FGs, that’s the difference in the game. Again, deal with it Scottie, Carrol is going to the Super Bowl again, and you won’t be covering it.

    • Difference in the game, #12: Seattle 3rd and 19, so GB rushes just three guys and Seattle just blocks with six guys. Russell Martin had ten minutes to find a wide open receiver for a monumental first down. Seattle eventually scored it’s first TD, because of that GB aided and abetted, 1st down completion

      • Russel Martin, huh? Last time I checked we’re talking about the NFC Championship game and not MLB. But you, like Wolf and the rest the UCLA Troll Ilk, never let the facts get in the way of another half-ass post. Again, Seattle took advantage of the opportunities given in the game.
By the way, the term, Ilk, means a small group of like minded people, which you and the UCLA Trolls who are on this “blog” 24-7-365 are.

        • I stand before you Massa, hat in hand, You is correct, Martin should be Wilson, and I will correct my faux pas.

Gosh, SUCC12, if the Seahawks hadn’t scored their TD on that particular drive, and everything remains the same, GB WINS 22 – 15 in regulation.

SUCC fantasy FB experts, a dime will get you 12 dozen pompous half wits like yourself.

‘Splain the SUCC’s tactics on the “hey I got it, Az St. Hail Mary catch and victory.”

Almost as terrible as the SUCC is come from ahead 21 – 6, and suffer the Boston Massacre. Yowsa.

Last but not least, UCLA 38 – SUCC not enough points.

      • Typical ruin logic: None and filled with excuses. No wonder you losers don’t ever win big.

  8. Wolf should be fired immediately for this garbage. Senor Douche…did you even watch the game? What happened AFTER the onside kick? Idiot, somebody has to win, somebody has to lose. You are an absolute disgrace to USC and journalism. Wolf, YOU were lucky that you haven’t had your a** kicked multiple times for your stupid posts….

  9. Pete Carroll will also be remembered as a successful builder of football teams , at the college and pro level. And he was never giving a fair shot with the Jets or New England, but that’s another story .

  10. All of USC fans that watched the packers knew what was coming…..because it seemed like Sark was coaching the packers on Sunday. The Packers get a 12 point lead and ran out the clock….just like Sark would have done. Uncanny how similar the Packers were to just about every USC game this year

  11. I would say it was all those classless flips into the endzone by his players at SCCC.

  12. What a moronic post. No football coach, no matter how successful is remembered for a single play. Lombardi, Knoll, Landry, Shula, Halas, Walsh, Saban, Johnson, Switzer, Osborne, Bryant aren’t remembered for a single play, they are remembered for their body of work and how many championships they won.
Right now Pete looks pretty good and the resume is only getting stronger.

  13. wolfman, only YOU have the INSIGHT and the GUTS to say out loud “the Caesar has no toga”!!!

YES of course this win will be remember for the Dumb Packer who couldn’t catch a lollipop with no one near him.

Pete will ALSO be remembered for Reggie, Lake, McNair, Sanctions, leaving Southern Cal a clown college and opening the door to UCLA domination that has no end in SIGHT!!

but the Cadre always pays the devil his DUE, Pete SHOULD be recognized for his good qualities–great timing (just escaping the NCAA posse as he left Southern Cal) and fantastic Def Coordinator skills.

  14. He’ll be remembered and enshrined on the Mt. Rushmore of Pro/College coaches who’ve won a ‘ship in both (along with Jimmy Johnson- Switzer doesn’t count cause he had Johnson’s players).

  15. He’ll be remembered for his cover 3 defense and the best College football teams of the century. How about you, Gargamel?

  16. I’ll answer you Scott. For resurrecting the USC program, winning 2 national championships, and for bringing a Super Bowl championship to Seattle (well, at least one). For being one of 3 coaches with a College and a pro football championship. Why in the world do you love to put negative spins on everything….you must be a pained soul…
