Will USC Hold This Victory Bell Celebration Next Year?

VICTORY.BELL.1952If USC defeats UCLA next year, will there be a celebration like this in 1952 when the Trojans reclaimed the Victory Bell? USC won the game. 14-12, before 96,869. Photo courtesy USC digital library’s L.A. Examiner collection.

    • Yep, beating the pathetic, habitual losers of SUCLA is one of the tastiest pleasures for SC fans and alumni. Shall I say it’s like smooshing on a pesky little fly? LMAO!!!

  1. An open invitation for ALL the trolls to jump in here and contribute your constructive opinions. The rest of us won’t bite. Have fun little gutties. Beautiful set up Wolfie.

    • Technically it would be THIS year as it is 2015. But then, I am probably splitting hairs with a guy (Wolf) that pays no attention to details.

  2. Picture of the day: Wolfie quietly stalking USC’s digital library with one intention in mind…getting more trolls.

    • For about 75% of those pictured, you would not have be welcome at their front door. At the backdoor, maybe, if you have a good excuse.

Why or how Arty, you rah-rah for Clownish U. is beyond me.

    • This is Los Angeles, Arturo. All those people in the photo comprise the current minority. What is missing in the picture are representatives of the majority.
      Times have changed.

  3. Actually, an SC victory over SUCLA next year would only mean that the winner (probably) would go on to play in the Pac-12 Title game, and hence have a chance at the “Final-4.”

  4. That certainly is a nostalgia filled photo, but please stop living in the past, Scott…..These are the good old days…..

  5. I am not your typical troll, but my parents took us to the game in ’52;it was a great game, and we went to the ’53 Rose Bowl too…lots of great players on both teams that year and the following years…I even like trolling when I fish on a lake.

  6. You USC will win the very next time they are playing even rosters, and maybe even before that.

  7. Another interesting fact: The victory bell was once part of a Southern Pacific locomotive. The Southern Pacific railway grew out of the Central Pacific railroad. The Central Pacific railroad was founded by four men including one Leland Stanford. So when USC captures the bell again they will be taking it not from some state school but from a prestigious private college named after the founder of the company that donated the bell.

    • What you really meant:
IF usc captures the bell again, they will be wresting it from a prestigious, renowned, top world-ranked university: UCLA. Stanford is a prestigious private university, unlike the Johnny-come-lately, fraudulent upstart: usc.

      You’re welcome.

      • First: when is statistically correct as there always a chance the bell will change hands. If is a hopeful choice of someone with wishful thinking.
Second USC was established in 1880 the University of California in 1882 and the University of California Southern Branch (aka UCLA) 1919. So upstart??? I think not. Sorry droll troll.

        • You just proved my point: the fact that usc is older than UCLA by almost thirty years, yet UCLA rose faster and is by far a better school, is evidence of UCLA’s vastly superior reality and outlook.

          • As much as it pains me to feed trolls I cannot let this pass. In spite of your assertions you are gravely mistaken.
There is no evidence to back your claim of vast superiority at your state school. There is, however history which you didn’t seem to learn to support the view that USC has been and continues to be a better football school.
And please don’t troll out those tired hackneyed studies showing Ucla marginally better than USC as any study I have seen touting the UC systems has been commissioned by the UC system.
So dear soul Ucla will never be better than its crosstown rival and thus should remain quiet as the grave.

          • Pathetic, truly pathetic. plenty of academic rankings have been posted in here, proving UCLA’s superiority over USC, yet none of you have EVER proven your ghetto schools is better than UCLA at anything, other than cheating.
The only thing your ghetto school leads UCLA in, is shootings inside the campus, murdered students outside your campus, student rapes.
Athletically USC is almost in the lead for having spent the most years on sanctions with 15, second only to SMU with 17, but no worries I have a feeling USC will surpass SMU within the next 10 years.
Oh, I almost forgot, your school also leads UCLA BY FAR in player arrests, a stat that UCLA frankly could never come close to even compete.

          • Again Annus Nimrod reports commissioned by UCLA showing UCLA is superior do not count. It has been published that UCLA practically gives grades away. And as I have pointed out herein people who do not care for USC and yet read these posts are trolls of the lowest kind. I am finished with this conversation you may babble like rabble as long as you like.

  8. The talent level is not enough to overcome the coaching advantage UCLA has over USC. Jim Mora is a much better coach then Steve Sarkisian, he has a real coaching presence, discipline and real leadership skills..And I can pretty much say the same thing about Stanford, Arizona States and Oregon, those coaches will always out coach Sarkisian…I Guarantee !!!

  9. no, not yet, Scott. USC is about 4-5 away from having a legitimate chance of “stealing” the bell.

  10. look at those punks, they looked as arrogant and drunk from that South Central Kool-Aid then as they do today. ha!
