USC v. Utah

There was an interesting exchange between coaches at yesterday’s USC-Utah game. After USC coach Andy Enfield called a 30-second timeout in the second half and started speaking to the referees about getting treated the same as Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak, the 6-foot-9 Krystkowiak walked over and told Enfield, “Hey, don’t start that. You’re out of your weight class.’’

I don’t even know how to take that. I don’t want our coaches letting themselves get punked but the Utah coach was being a douche and doesn’t have the right to do that.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

That phrase used in this context usually means that a person is in a situation that he is not fit to be in; in other words, he is in over his head.

Now, that would be a highly cutting mark if the Ute coach meant it in that vein. Perhaps his meaning was more narrow than that i.e. that our Dandy Andy should not be wrestling with the referees

Any hoo, if you are looking for class the sports scene is the wrong place to be seeking it.

No one has ever accused Krystkowiak of being overly polite to refs nor has be stepped in to save them. It was intentionally insulting while also intimidating in some sense.

Enfield came onto the scene at SC with a big blow up with Floyd (regardless of Floyd probably starting it, Enfield’s print interview over the top smack talking made cover stories). I’m sure that didn’t make him any friends among coaches. It was a miscalculation.

Enfield is just out of his depth and has to be fired. He’s got a ton of money and a learning experience, we don’t owe him the right to destroy things too.

whenever they showed Enfeild, all his assts were up on the edge of their chairs attentive to the game, while Enfield sat back in his chair impassively.

In the last 20 minutes Petros Papadakis has decided to unload on Pete Carroll telling about past encounters and interviews re.
