  1. When I was at USC, the Trojans won the College World Series every single year – four years straight. Dedeaux was a phenomenal coach who called all his players “Tiger”. Great players. Now, it would be a great accomplishment just to get to the World Series. Maybe this year.

    • Yeah well when you were there they had unlimited scholarships not like the 13 they get now, so it’s a different world for a private school when it comes to baseball these days.

      • Some private schools have withstood, even flourished, with the limited #s, certainly a whole lot better than USC has the last 15 years. The Gillespie departure was a fiasco which USC seems to be finally recovering from. But all could look different a month from now. Too early to tell.

        • None have flourished, not even Stanford, they haven’t been good for years. Rice had a run and now how are they doing ? It’s easier to get a kid in Fullerton on a partial than USC, coaching baseball at a private school is tough these days

          • At least Rice had a run – far superior to what USC has done this century. USC’s in-the-dregs-program has been totally, completely out of the picture in baseball for years and years. We’re talking bad and their only real excuse has been terrible coaches post Gillespie. Last Trojan appearance in World Series was literally 2001. They didn’t have to be THAT bad. Vandy just won the 2014 championship. No problem for the Commodores.
