Sunday Buzz: Quarterback KJ Costello Nears Decision

Quarterback KJ Costello of Santa Margarita said he is close to making a college decision. USC and Stanford are his top choices and he might visit Michigan. Costello might be one of the top two quarterbacks in the Class of 2016 and would create quite a spring practice in 2016 if he graduates early.

That would mean Max Browne, Jalen Greene, Sam Darnold, Ricky Town and Costello would compete to replace Cody Kessler.

  1. Now that’s competition… sure beats a team with Jerry Neuheisel competing against an incoming freshman for the starting spot. It almost looks like it was UCLA that had scholarship reductions!

  2. I think he’s going to Stanford. We don’t have to take a QB in this class. He looks like a good prospect. Personally I think Shea Patterson blows him out of the water. But he is no longer on the table.

  3. If KJ Costello wants to prepare for the NFL, then he should sign with Stanford, because David Shaw is probably the best coach in the Pac 12 .

    • He may be the best coach in the Pac-12, but his recruiting classes have only been decent (5ht in Pac-12 and 24th overall), and I can’t say that I’ve been wowed with his assistant coaches either….. Having said that, Stanford did not sign a QB this year, so Costello would have a far less impeded path to becoming a starting QB…..

  4. He’s Stanford bound. Better education, better coaching, and the head coach isn’t racist.
