USC opens spring practice today. Who are the players to watch? What are the questions surrounding the Trojans for the next few weeks? Here’s my answers.

  1. Here ARE my answerS. Not, here is my answers. I think I learned that in the 1st grade.

The only question…when are you retiring?

    • Scott retired as soon as he was hired….. the man doesn’t care about the quality of his work…. he has zero pride

  2. Proper grammar aside, this is relevant “Inside SC” information, for a refreshing change.

Love the pic of the Big Cat, gonna miss that guy!

    Good work, Scott.

  3. Max Tuerk does NOT have an unorthodox snapping motion…. he has very long arms (or as Scott likes to say, “arns”) and he snaps a dead ball that doesn’t spin……he would be a great LT or may even a guard… the guys pulls on running plays like a beast……

    • Tuerk has never truly had the opportunity to thrive at tackle. He did get quality experience two years ago. Me and my pal always wonder what if.

      • I agree….and too much faith was placed in Cyrus Hobbi at center…after he washed out (his confidence was shot after his horrendous showing against Stanford), Tuerk was our best option, given the limited depth at center

        • Stanford killed Hobbi. He’s probably gonna need therapy. Tuerk probably would have played guard or center anyways if Andrus Peat and Kyle Murphy would have followed through and came in with Tuerk and Banner. I hope Chuma Edoga gets a real chance at tackle. He’s not the prototypical size tackle, but many say he is the best all around OL of 2015 recruiting cycle.

          • That’s quite a few “if’s”, my friend……fate has a funny way of shaping things….I agree with you about playing Edoga at tackle…it will be interesting to see if Jordan Austin, Khaliel Rodgers, Nico Falah and Jordan Simmons continue to develop and if they are able to leapfrog any of the younger guys… barring an injury, it won’t be easy, that’s for sure

        • USC has struck out in a long line of center recruits. Rodgers, Hobbi & Paolo come to mind. The other OL positions are in really good shape, but Sark needs to recruit a great center… it remains to be seen if Smith is that person and he certainly needs to bulk up in the next 1-2 years.

Tuerk’s NFL position is not at center and the sooner he can move from there the better he will be in the draft.

          • That why I see Smith redshirting this season, unless there is a major emergency of some sort……

          • I’m curious who Sark grooms as Tuerk’s backup in case of injury. Certainly that will be a part of Spring ball, but we’ll have to get that info from “another site” as Scottie doesn’t like to attend practice.

          • There were discussions early last year about Toa Lobendahn or Khaliel Rdgers playing center, but it never gained traction, for some reason…..

          • No, but when Chad Wheeler went out with a torn ACL, I was hoping to see Tuerk move to LT, and someone else get a little experience at center. …wishful thinking, I know

    • I believe Tuerk’s shoulders pop out of his shoulders when he snaps…clearly that’s the problem.

  4. How good is Ricky Town is a question to be answered in Spring 2015? Really? Town won’t have an impact on the program for 3 years and how good he is right now is irrelevant.

  5. “If you talk to anyone within the program, you hear junior college signee Isaac Whitney should start at wide receiver.” …..so who did you talk to, Scott?….. I’m dying to know…..

    • So now it will be Wolf complaining after every game about the small number of touches Whitney got. This crap never ends.

  6. Unfortunately I think the defense will be comical, because they certainly did not dominate they way they should have last season, and they had Leonard Williams leading the charge. I think Justin Wilcox is another coach on Steve Sarkisian’s staff that nobody else wanted , and how do these coaches earn these big reputations, when they have accomplished absolutely NOTHING ?!!
