NCAA Tournament Talk

Virginia has its hands full with Belmont. Wichita State barely leads Indiana and should get that big meeting with in-state rival Kansas.

UPDATED: Wichita State and Virginia survive. Will there be any big upsets today?

having a team in March MADNESS is TRULY LIVING!!!!

    i feel SO ALIVE!!!!!!

there is only ONE THING for sure: UCLA wouldda NEVER made it to the BIG DANCE this year without the trOXans to beat up on THREE TIMES!!!!

thank you Dummies, you make a great launching pad!!!!
    (and punching bag!!!!!)

    chortle

    • You must not be getting your alerts.

What do your Bruin hoopsters have to do in order for the season to be a tremendous success?

          • ok…in the words of Col. Nathan Jessup: “i’ll answer the question”

for UCLA to have made it to the NCAA’s is a minor miracle. we lost FOUR players to the NBA (e.g. under similar circumstances Kentucky MISSED the NCAA’s in 2013!!)

so the season if already a major success!

now, inasmuch as we know the oft declared Southern Cal standard for declaring a top notch “dynasty” despite no Crystal, is the fact they made a number of BCS bowl games last decade, since there are 6 BCS bowl games inclu champeenship (thus 12 participants) it follows that making the sweeeeet 16 in basketball is essentially the equivalent to making a BCS football game. accordingly, making the sweeeeet 16 not only represents success, it is the basis for declaring a faux Dynasty, based on the Southern Cal model.

i summary, UCLA making the sweeeet 16 for the second straight year would represent a fantastic achievement given the rebuilding inherent to modern men’s basketball, and further would represent a “dynasty” by Southern Cal standards.

unlike Southern Cal however, UCLA enjoys by FAR AND AWAY the most undisputed champeenships in basketball so OUR standard are CONSIDERABLY higher.

we WLL shock the world and win the champeenship this year.

          • Wow That has to be the best example of talking in circles I’ve ever seen.

            Nice job!

          • Setting aside your questionable analogy of the Sweet 16 to the BCS bowls, I do think you’re correct in saying that making the Sweet 16 would be an amazing achievement for this particular UCLA team.

          • thank you for your support.

my empty offer to buy you a beer on campus almost blew up in my face: i was making a joke about the fact UCLA has never allowed beer sales on campus….but then i was informed that rascal Wolfgang Puck somehow got permission to serve beer and wine at his place in Ackerman Union. quite a feat, breaking a historical prohibition…

          • Unlike UCLA last year, the Kentucky team that lost players to the NBA actually won something.
Speaking of UK, when they win this year they will be within two titles of UCLA. Not exactly FAR AND AWAY.
I don’t know if you have noticed but that gap has been consistently narrowing over the last 40 years.
So now you are equating once proud UCLA basketball to the very same USC football accomplishments that you have spent countless hours, using many user names and thousands of posts, attempting to discredit here?

          • really?? you don’t think 3 more Natty’s is far and away more than KY?? ok.

third place is a tie with 5…..breathing down our necks (chortle)

don’t be gettin’ all petty now, Jezro.

  2. The biggest upset today, Scott, will be your stomach, after devouring several Five Guys cheeseburgers, numerous large orders of Cajun Fries and a bucket of peanuts, while watching the tournament from the comfort of your La-Z-Boy…..

    • Garry Bleauz stepped up to the challenge with 3 double chili cheese burgers and chili dripped fries and 3 milks at Tommys.

  3. A shout out to SC alum Will Ferrell for picking UCLA to beat SMU in his bracket, which is published on ES*N!
