Stat Of The Day

The Big Ten has two teams in the Final Four. The Pac-12’s had three teams make the Final Four since 1964 (Arizona, UCLA, Stanford). Utah made it in 1998 as a member of the WAC.

  1. VERY misleading post, Scott…..back then, wasn’t it the Pac-8????… and Arizona was NOT even part of the conference back then, right??… thus, the Pac-12 has NEVER had 3 teams in the Final Four, RIGHT???

      • My bad…. I guess Scott thinks that he is catering to a much younger demographic who wouldn’t know these sorts of things……perhaps he meant 1984?…..or 1864?…..or 1694??

  2. This is a ridiculous thing to point out. Scott, you aren’t even comparing the same things. You write as if a PAC12 team has made the final four only three total times, which is patently false.

  3. March 30th, 1974 – The first baseball game ever played at Dedeaux Field, USC’s Russ McQueen tossed a no-hitter against California….

  4. Fact is, in the last 40 years only two current Pac-12 teams have made the Final-4, with SUCLA and Arizona going all the way to capture a national title.

In those last 40 years only 20 teams have won a title. And there are something like 200 or more schools that are eligible to play in the NCAA tournament

So it is not unusual for schools to have never made the Final-4.

Will SUCLA ever be a Michigan St, Duke, Wisconsin, Kentucky or even a Gonzaga or Arizona?– No

SUCLA has been only mediocre for 40 years running. So L.A. is up for grabs. If only the Trojans had the support of the administration AND the student body/fans they could make a run at being No. 1 in Los Angeles.
