Pat Haden’s Long-Time Stance

Today’s announcement by Pat Haden that he will not go to Indiana drew nation-wide attention. But he also spoke about his son last year and the issue of homosexuality and sports.

“This issue is near and dear to my heart as I have a gay son,” Haden said. “I am so proud of him and love him to death.  At USC, we are all about inclusion.

“We have many gay athletes here, and we welcome and appreciate them.  We promote diversity not just in terms of sexual orientation and ethnicity, but different points of view.  We are producing a video featuring our student-athletes expressing that we want to live by our Trojan Family Code, which is centered around treating people with respect despite any differences and, even more, appreciating that diversity.  In the last two years, we have also created a “culture committee” with student-athletes, coaches, administrators and some faculty members.  We discuss changing the culture around USC from the standpoint of what can we do better.  Appreciate and respect one another.  And, treat each other with dignity and fairness.”

  1. Kumbaya, can we get a group hug? When will USC wear all pink? Haden, just fade away and take the Greek with you

    • So was mine i.e. the ‘festivu$’ 24/7 is now at the ‘rudder’…oh man are they evah!

No counter to the festivus agenda….it’s now the agenda of bel-air tech and all the depravity and destruction the left brings.

abortion, drug legalization, SEIU, glbtna$1, femina%i, econa$i, that fat slob at the LA Times business editor…..yes we’re now controlled by scottie wadda doo doo scottie wadda doo doo…

questions….the stench of the left and the death of America

    • WEHO and all their ‘connected’ blackmail fools — “If you don’t spout our line we’ll out you – Scientology 24/7….

  2. The same is likely to be true in the media……anyone remember the late Mike Penner aka transgender Christie Daniels, a sports writer from the LA Times?

  3. Will that be appreciate and respect one another as long as we agree with
the lgbt movement? There are christian athletes at USC too, and if
they are not in line with the lgbt crowd, will they be appreciated and
respected also? They haven’t been so far. This is true not just at USC
but the other school too, but they have pretty much fallen off the left
coast and gone along like sheep.
Haden should send a stand in for him.
So, to recap, the left will do business with countries that stone to death lgbt people, but won’t do business with Indiana.

  4. Can Haden be any more of a hypocrite? A sure case of talking out of both sides of his mouth. He claims above that the Trojan Family Code includes treating people with respect despite any differences” yet he declines to attend a meeting in a state because they don’t agree with his point of view. He could have easily voiced his disagreement with the law, but to disrespect the people attending the meeting who expected him to attend because he doesn’t agree with a state law is ultra hypocritical.

    • Mr Fan, your thread is a compelling argument in light of Mr. Haden’s public announcement he’s boycotting an Indiana meeting because of the new Indiana religious law.

I’m somewhat shocked i agree with your point – it’s hard not too. However, in Mr Haden’s case I’m willing to excuse his personal reaction due family obligations.

      • Pat Haden is quite the preacher. Will he demand that USC cease admitting students from countries that oppress homosexuals and lesbians like Saudi Arabia? Or is his outrage selective?

        • I’m ok with Mr. Haden’s decision this time.

Students from SA and Iran must abide the USC rules and regulations.

As far as I know, USC doesn’t tolerate any form of sexual discrimination.

        • No he won’t because his lack of taking a stand is evident today – his assuming HE and HE alone is USC – ‘blank’ Pat Haden – nothing but a louse and an absentee father a complete an total absentee father.

      • Their speaking for themselves. They are entitled to their opinion. I don’t see anything in Pat’s statement that violates the rights of people who disagree. It is university policy and state law that protects the LGBT community from discrimination and the Indiana law would have done that. The Governor has already admitted as much and requested changes to protect LGBT Hoosiers. Ironic isn’t it? Who would have imagine this law would in the end result in legal protection for the LGBT community in the Hoosier state. That’s what happens when your monster turn on you.

        • I’m amazed by the ignorance and poor reasoning of most of these comments. No research indicates that sexual orientation is a matter of a freely choosing agent selecting a lifestyle.

I was pleased to read your comment, to know that rational discourse is still alive among some fans. 🙂

  5. Respecting differences and diversity includes people with strong religious beliefs that find some BEHAVIOR and ACTIVITIES (not people) wrong and choose not to support or engage in.

    • So Golden One, you’re on board with ISSA’s behavior and activity of removing the heads of non-believers with a dull kitchen knife. Can I get a Glory Hallelujah!

      • That’s really a stretch. God even loves issl idiots. He is probably not very pleased with their actions though. We all have to stand and give an account one day.

      • That that good old Democrat respect and dignity for those that disagree with your lib ruin preaching!

      • UOLF showing your socialists education, ISIS’s behavior and activities are deplorable, that’s obvious, but I feel for them on Judgement Day. Classic how you use ISIS to condemn religion.

        • Democrats have allied with Muslims to destroy America. That’s why you don’t hear a peep from them about Muslim treatment of homosexuals or women.

  6. I can appropriate Haden being defensive about his son but boycotting something because you disagree is not inclusion. He can say his pro something all he wants but he certainly is not behaving according to the “Trojan Family Code” Haden certainly is not treating the people of Indiana with “respect despite any difference” I would not say that Haden is Hypocritical here. I don’t think he hates heterosexuals but he is definitely pushing the LGBT agenda on everyone. For people who believe the Bible to be the absolute truth. LGBT life style will always be sin. But God of the bible hates sin but loves sinners, so Bible believing folks may recognize that certain things in people maybe sin but love and embrace “sinners” as God of the Bible does…Imho

  7. Bluntly it speaks volumes of his lack of input into his son – look there is that ‘moment’ when some ‘fruit0pian 5’ decides to introduce one to the ‘g6y’ place – 15 – 22 yrs. of age….ask the pervs w. NAMBLA….the pervs know…sorry for Haden but ‘bluntly’ he was ‘absent’ when it mattered….the pervs win again and now they’ve allowed Troy to descend into their pit of evil thanks to Haden who if he were truly concerned would never have made this horrific statement – it’s on you Haden – you chose NOT to be there for your son.

  8. i figured all the bigots would rally and make a 2nd half comeback. they’re like zombies, no intellect, but they band together!!

oh well, i’m just glad to know this kind of hate and ugliness would never happen at glorious UCLA!! man, i’m i glad to be Bruin!

    #AndAShower

    • Sheep, jump on the band wagon. I isn’t hate my friend, it is standing up for what you believe in. The American way. I thought this was a free country, but it isn’t if you don’t allow the lgbt to run all over you.

      • what do you believe, Steve? That making a cake for two men is a sin? Bible verse for me on that please.

  9. Sometime look closely into the Third Reich’s leaders….festivus$ en flagrante – the left festiu$ doesn’t want any hard research into what Mussolini’s Italian govt officials called the ‘German disease’ in 1934 anymore than the TV cameras never ‘display’ the ‘pump and flex’ at glbt parades

  10. I guess Pat Haden only takes a stand when it comes to liberal politics. He didn’t have enough guts to stand up and take a stand when the NCAA gave SC the shaft.

  11. You leftist have no respect for those who disagree with you. You MUST wear the ribbon!

  12. Great point! Now Haden suddenly is all self-righteous after all those years working in Indiana.

    • Which brings us to this years game against ND in South Bend…..will Haden attend the game?…. will the TEAM ask for a change in venue?… that will never happen, but the team may decide to stay at a hotel outside of Indiana…..where does this stop?…

  13. So what… it is Haden choosing to bring attention to himself on a particular matter and using his AD position to do so?

  14. It is so transparent. UCONN immediately tried to jump on the bandwagon since their dirty program was revealed. First they had the men’s coach say that ‘men’s basketball isn’t interesting’, then the men’s basketball coach said he isn’t going to travel to the Final Four. Newsflash, you aren’t going because your team isn’t in it!

The fact is that corrupt people live on the backs of a bunch of kids, many of them black and/or economically disadvantaged, and the NCAA and coaches get MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, even as the NCAA games the system even more than the coaches to outcomes for their dirty little political and money grabbing cliques.

Look at the NCAA with its lawsuits against image use, its fight against medical coverage, against increased stipends, how they begrudge kids a damn sandwich or a phone call or suit or trip with fraternity brothers or a trip home to a funeral…

Look at how they blatantly lie when one of their leaders like the late Paul Dee (one of the most corrupt men to ever walk the earth) and his little band of NCAA contract wielding, conflict of interest having bunch want to destroy a school!

And don’t start me on Pat Haden. This is a public board so I won’t talk about SC stuff, but look at the players from his own time who talked about him getting special privileges and illegal benefits while others got bullcrap benefits like $hitty jobs in the back of a truck of a beverage distributor because they were from the ghetto. Never saw “Right Way” Pat talk about that.

And recently, as was in the news, he went off on a booster who has helped kids (and let me state eff the NCAA boosters SHOULD help kids within reason). Was he attacking the booster for helping the kids, Mr. Right Way, Self Righteous Hypocrite? No, he was ticked off at the booster for criticizing the coaching, lest it reflect on him.

Pat Haden just do everyone a favor and keep your bullcrap to yourself. You are too morally bankrupt and self serving for anyone to care what you think about anything.
