  1. this must drive the old white guys from #yesterdayU crazy! Just one more reminder SC ain’t what it used to be!

    • Rather than be his usual outspoken self, Scott is curiously tiptoeing around this subject…..at least, he is so far

  2. The country has come a long way on this subject in just the past 5-years or so.

Of course, it never should have been an issue in the first place, and 50-years from now people will look back disgustingly at how barbaric much of the U.S. society was.

Now, if we could only lick racism and ageism and all the other “isms” out there.

    • Communism and Marxism “lead” the way !

But “when” you think about it, roughly 200,000,000 (Million) murdered or starved to death (Since roughly 1917) in the name of “Socialism” really isn’t that much ?

Unless of course it was You…

      MoveOn

    • Will he be boycotting ESPN? Connecticut has a similar law. Will he boycott Obama who voted for the Illinois version in 1998?

      • The issue is not the wording of the law, per se. Other states with laws like this also specify sexual orientation as a protected class in their state anti-discrimination statutes. This trumps the new law and means that a business cannot discriminate. Indiana does not. Thus, discrimination by sexual orientation would be possible under this law in Indiana. They need to amend the state equal-rights law.

    • I’m not 100% sure that this was Pat being PC, but you may be right….it may have been a preventative strike to the media before someone revealed the fact that his son is g ay (I had no idea, not that it matters)… his personal experience and public compassion of g ays may even result in a Trojan player feeling safe enough to come out

  3. Considering what a “great” job you’ve done at USC, Pat, I don’t think you’ll be missed…

And as for Indiana, and per the “Constitution”, Freedom of Religion is a Right ! And Freedom to exercise it is also a Right !!

The Supreme Court has “already” ruled on this !!!

    To each his own…

    FightOn

    • The S.Ct. has ruled that “religious practices” (hair length, drug use, land use) are protected from government punishment. It has not ruled that businesses have religious beliefs and can be insulated from discrimination suits based on them.

        • Yes. But it did not address whether they are protected by the free-exercise of religion clause of the First Amendment, and the decision was limited to limited to closely-held corporations.

      • Have you ever “noticed” a sign on most businesses in “every” State in the Union that reads: “We Reserve the Right to Refuse Service to Anyone” ???

        Every “State” ?

        That’s the “LAW” !

A “Federal” Law, and protected by the Constitution…

  4. Wish Pat would of taken a stand like this against the NCAA when they were giving it to him on the chin.

    • It was a no win situation, IMO…. and I’m not really sure if we would be in any different a position today, had Pat taken a legal stand…I realize that I am in the minority, but I was okay with USC riding out the storm, instead of spending millions on a defense that would not necessarily have changed anything… and look where the NCAA are now, with almost 200 documents still being kept under wraps…Karma can be a b*tch……..

  5. I think he must have flunked law school, this would explain his politics on not suing the ncaa …go back to being a second string ND broadcaster…soon.

    • He didn’t mind working in Indiana and taking their money. What a hypocrite he is!

  6. Surprised Pat won’t be going to Indy as much as he liked being screwed by the ncaa there 🙁 Must not like that feeling anymore. Homophobes need to go over to the ucla board

    • Everyone run in fear… I have seen people who disagree or think that it is not the preferable social paradigm, or just not personally like homosexual acts, but I have not seen people who have a fear or phobia. Except I would assume in prison. Now can we fire Pat already? The guy is a hypocrite when he talks about diversity anyway, and he has no business pushing his personal bullcrap; he should just do his job for once.

  7. Sorry Haden, but nothing you do now will shame the NCAA. In fact, the NCAA bathes in your tears and laughs while doing it.
