  1. Okay….so obviously Pat Haden is not a popular AD, according to numerous comments on this blog….I’d be curious who these people would like to see replace Haden….gotroy22? Go Tama? The rest of the Haden Haters?…… you’re on the clock……before it becomes another one of Scott’s polls…….

  2. Pat, so you have a son who is a homosexual. Pat, homosexuality is a terrible addiction. Ask J. L. whose h. son died at age 34. Ask R. R. whose h. son died at age 35. Age 45 is the life expectancy of your son. It is an unhealthy lifestyle that leaves women out in the cold (ask San Francisco young women looking for husbands). My wife and I enjoy the loving fellowship of our 7 children, 5 extended family members, and 10 grandkids.
For you to feel strongly that all h’s should have the right to demand any person in private business to serve them is a violation of Common Sense. No individual has the right to demand service from a business owner. For that matter, if a business owner is a Christian, for a h. to demand service is a violation of STATE LAW IN 23 STATES, FEDERAL LAW, and the BILL OF RIGHTS that prohibits the Government, any American Government, from interfering with a Christian’s free exercise of their religion. Cocaine addition, alcohol addition, homosexuality, are all life threatening.
8 K’s, how about Mike Holmgren for PH’s AD replacement ?

    • why is it that “religious people” are often the most repulsive bullies? you’d think none of you ever picked up a bible. it preaches tolerance, loving your neighbor and not judging others. when people ask what would Jesus do, i think he would walk up to the Falwells of the world and kick them in the nuts (ok that is what Bucket would do).

Your ilk does Satan’s work better than Bucket ever did!

      • You atheists have quite a track record the last century, only 100 million dead.

        • 1) i worship Satan, im not an atheist.

          2) goo-goo, i can’t believe anyone would argue atheism has caused more killing than religion, including religious motivated nuts.

          • That is really sad Bucket. I don’t always agree with you but I don’t hate you. I do agree with you about the damage to humanity that has been done by “religion”. Believing is in the heart, not doing the things of religion.

          • Your Christian-hating Soviet Union and Red China racked up the numbers but the Khmer Rouge and North Koreans have to get special merit for the mass murders they did.

      • The issue is a baker, florist, photographer, or facility owner who feels a strong religious opinion about marriage. They would simply like to decline the business without being sued or persecuted.

        • And Christians in the South used the same logic when denying Blacks service at restaurants, hotels, etc. What was it that was burned on front lawns? Crosses.

People have a right to equal treatment. Congress shall pass no laws restricting the practice of religion. Doing business is not a religious practice.

I do admit that being forced to participate in a marriage brings up a more complicated situation. Usually people have more than one choice for preachers, photographers, caterers, etc.

And yes…GoTroy…I am a Christian as well. But many things done in the name of the Church are wrong.

          • Being cruel to a person based on their skin color is not Christian. Choosing not to participate in an activity because it is not biblical is Christian. It should be okay to find someone else to provide the goods or service.

        • Probie said it below. i’ll only add that it’s jerks like the Westboro Church guy (schlammer or whatever) above who we have to keep in check. notice he COULDN’T WAIT to tell Pat his boy would be dying early??

GOD, i mean SATAN, i’m just glad that jackasss is not a Bruin.

      • You will never understand, people are not the issue, but you keep hiding behind your own ingnorance. Their actions are what is objectionable. Love the sinner, hate the sin. THAT is biblical, which I am sure you already know.

      • It’s interesting that you are defending Pat Haden allowing his personal feelings to affect his professional duties as Athletic Director for the University of Southern California yet you don’t allow for people of faith to do the same.

    • I wouldn’t be opposed to Holmgren as AD…I hadn’t thought about him as a potential candidate, quite frankly, but I like your outside of the box thinking. …

  3. Off Topic: bRuins WR Devin Lucien is leaving the program and will try to transfer to a Pac 12 program. RENTS, anno animus, TROLLS. Can u give some info?

      • Was he a problem. I only ask because Mora has allowed him to transfer to all Pac 12 teams.

        • nice, shows class on Mora’s part. i wish every coach would allow that (not sure of rules….used to be kid had to sit out a year for interconference tranx) the kid was liked but did complain about playing time.

          • That was cool of Mora. The last few years SC has let kids transfer to their preferred programs, but the kids who have wanted to transfer to SC have been denied by there coaches. Jimbo Fisher not letting Mathew Thomas being the most recent.

      • oh so you guys picked up Adoree and JuJu Smith as you suggested you would? pffft hahahaha – Who exactly are you loaded with? or should I say, what are you loaded “on?”

      • Amen. Lucien will get a UCLA degree and move on to another team able to utilize Lucien’s talents to Lucien’s advantage.

  4. Man what a sick human being is schammer47. It is not an addiction you moron that can be treated. A decent person is entitled to be served no matter the business or his belief if he behaves himself in the establishment properly. I am not a fan of Haden for AD which is irrelevant in this situation. It is a shame that so many Trojans are a real piece of work being so righteous and conservative.

    • Thank you for standing up for what’s right regardless of University affiliation. You’re to be commended.

    • Sodomy is a sin no matter who it’s with and has health risks. Add promiscuity and the risk sky rockets. Addiction? Sexual addiction maybe, who you are attracted to probably not.

    • Trust me, we would never want a world run by “progressives”. Conservatism brings balance and objectivity.

  5. Why didn’t Haden do something constructive like asking to move the meeting to Chicago.

  6. It seems that Pat Haden’s refusal to go to Indiana for an NCAA conference has more vexing implications than is apparent. 20 states have passed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, among them Arizona, Idaho, and Utah (along with Indiana). And Arkansas is also about to adopt the same law.

USC plays football games against Arizona, Arizona State, Idaho, Utah, and Arkansas universities this year. The Arizona State game is an away game at Tempe, Arizona. The others are home games.

Will Haden refuse to go to the 4 home games with those schools? Will he refuse to go to the Az. State game at “Sun Devil Stadium” in Tempe? Better yet, will he cancel the games with those schools? What if the Governor of Arizona told Haden he is not welcome to attend the Arizona State game in Tempe, just as Haden says he does not feel welcome going to Indiana?

And what happens in 2016 when USC plays Alabama in Arlington, Texas, both of which also have adopted the same law. What then?

  7. Hell yes I agree with it. Look, I am a Bruin, but I am one of the few who realize that Southern Cal got boned by the NCAA. I’m not denying some culpability on your part, but neither has Haden. However, nothing that was done deserved the level of punishment received.

The NCAA might be the most corrupt, ineffectual organization in the country. That this case wasn’t dismissed, or at the very least mitigating circumstances considered is a travesty and insult to the process. You guys did not deserve this. Make no mistake, you deserved something, but not this.

Still, a symbolic gesture won’t change anything, but hopefully it gets enough press to force the NCAA to change.
