Final Four Night Talk

Ashley Judd loses in the upset. But here’s something else: Wisconsin gets to the NCAA title game for the first time since 1941. What makes them more special than USC? Is Madison a basketball hotbed? OK, I get the coaching thing. But still, shouldn’t USC be doing a lot better?

  1. Scott, we get it. USC has a bad basketball program. It has had a bad basketball program for years, decades. And yes, the administration has done a whole lot of nothing to improve it.

Basketball doesn’t matter here. Only football. We get it, Scotty.

    • only football matters??? Finishing in 2-3rd place in the south conference…..that’s what matters???? Womens CREW IS WHAT SHOULD MATTER TO YOU BONEHEADS.

  2. One UK vs Wisc oddity was that none of the Wisc. players sported any tattoos – absolutely and positively outstanding.

  3. Yep, USC should be way better. Nothing happening anytime soon as long as we have haden and weak USC leadership. Definitely not happening under Endlessfield.

    • I love how the default position of the average mouth-breathing USC fan is “It’s all Haden’s fault.”

Look, if Enfield fails (more likely than not, but we’ll have to wait for next year) that’s Haden’s fault. What is not Haden’s fault is an administrative culture that all but ignores men’s basketball.

This has been going on far longer than Haden has been AD. You can argue that after the of the great teams ever in USC basketball history, the 1971 Team, failed to go to the NCAA tournament, USC made a decision as to the effect of “Let UCLA have basketball.” USC really hasn’t taken basketball seriously for 40 years. Why should they take it seriously now?

Until USC says “We will build Mens BB and we will be willing to go deep into the red for up to five years in BB”, USC will always have fits and starts in basketball.

      • Correction, we won the Pac 10 exactly 30 years ago when the ruins were in chaos and Lute Olson had yet to develop the Arizona program. Unfortunately instead of building on that league championship, we fired that coach and drove Trojan Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble to Loyola. Then Mike McGee brought in “Jim Raveling, George Raveling”…

  4. HAWR-HAWR!!! nice try KY!!!!

looks like the UCLA BRUINS REMAIN FAR in and away the MOST DOMINANT in National CHampeenships!!!

Kentucky still THREE full Natty behind the Bruins!!! and with Alford hitting his stride looks like UCLA is on the verge of taking a few MORE very soon!!!

oh, it is SO SUGARY SWEEEEET being the UNDISPUTED ALL TIME BEST program in THE most exciting major college sport!!!

    • Three transparent rants put up with the sole intent of getting a reaction and everyone ignores them. (Mine doesn’t count)

Looks like its getting harder and harder to be an agitator.

      • Thanks for the response bro, you guys really left me hangin’ there for a while!!

I was starting to question whether Bucket had run his course, but NOW i feel SO ALIVE!!! like a CHAMPEEEN!!!!!

    • Hey Upchuck, you take a knee, USC swept Arizona and they are looking to sweeping the homeless ruins (when the VA takes over) AGAIN!!!! Who cares about women’s gymnastics since USC doesn’t have a team, so why did you bring that up? Besides, Ugly will lose to Georgia. Crotch Kick Again, but you are use to it. HAR HAR HAR…

  7. Hmm uhhh by the same logic how come bel-air tech has one title in mens bb in ’40’ years since the coward-peckerhead chose to haunt Pauley w. his boney back end?

Regardless of bel-air tech’s final four or this year’s sweet 16 why is it just one in 40? I know the former water boy under Billy Barnes chose to go ‘Gordon Dee’ on Harrick then again that ‘BA Country Club’ ‘golf playah’ never would of had the cajones to do the same to the woodpecker or his former boss JD ‘tennis anyone?’ Morgan…it’s why Dalis got the job in the first place you know “…have a safe and sane 4th…oh yeah and never forget when it comes to the govt./left/SEIU and firemen (posing for the GLBT crowd calendars) screw job you can always count on ucla my sucla to do your bidding GLBT and boy do they want to…..oh not there…yes that’s it….what that bigoted pizza place denied ‘us’ frui7opians in IN….hey Pat Haden understood what it means to not be a father but to be a pu7z”

  8. Kentucky had no offensive presence from their big men. Towns had 16 but it really seemed like 6. Wisconsin’s Kaminsky and Dekker were to big and athletic. Hats off to Kentucky for their effort this season.

  9. USC and UK are both 0 – 2 in championships the last 2 years, Scottie. One of the worst-officiated halves of basketball I’ve ever seen – both ways. I mean, a guy gets punched in the face and they review the video – every angle showed the punch. And they don’t give a T? Then Wisconsin shoots the ball clearly after the buzzer and not a single ref knows it? Ugly. But I’m fired up that the team with juniors and seniors beat one-and-done tech.

Another thing – the presumptive best football team entering the post season (Alabama) and the presumptive best hoops team entering the tourney (UK) failed to even MAKE the title game in their respective sports. Paul Finebaum and the SEC crew are crapping themselves. Relevance is fleeting.

  10. OK, let’s talk coaching, the Wisconsin coach has been there 14 Years! 3 conf. titles and 3 conf. tourney titles in 14 years, Wolf would squealing for his head for that, and the lack of success in the NCAA. Renfield is on the hot seat but should stay if he shows improvement. A new coach every 3 years, SC will never have a good BB program.

    • Now there’s a standard. How could Enfield not improve on last place? Did you see any glimpse of superior coaching from him the last two years? The Oregon State coach has done much more with much less.

      • True he’s got no where to go but UP! The program was on rock bottom after O’Neil. Enfield is getting talent, give him a chance. Just saying consistency is very important and rotating coaches every 3 years won’t get the program off the floor.

  11. Why not USC?

    Why not UCLA or Arizona?

Because the talent is east of the Mississippi, with the exception of Texas. There are players Southern California, but not enough to stock UCLA and USC and Arizona and whomever year after year after year.

  12. Waiting for USC to be a Championship basketball caliber team is a waist of time, it’s is USC Championship Football that matters, and the Parade is not far away if not pending!

But for Wisconsin to be a #1 seed #3 overall in the Country makes one to wonder, how has UCLA Basketball (#14 seeded teams can make the Sweet 16?) fallen so far ??

    That’s the question !!!

Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, they are still powerhouses !

Nobody fears the UCLA Bruins anymore, and most of the Top-Recruits want nothing to do with Westwood !!

    That’s the story here !!!

    USC = Football
    UCLA = Basketball

It really isn’t difficult to comprehend…

    • Chuck, You live in “Fantasy Land” !

Fortunately you are within an hours drive (South on the 5 Frwy, exit Ball Rd, turn right, and look for for Disneyland on your right)…

  13. SC basketball has had its moments, but it does not sustain itself for a block of years, hence, no tradition is built

How can SC recruit top players when it does not have good teams?– It is the chicken and the egg syndrome. Troy needs the players to have good teams in order to attract more top players.

If only there would be a breakthrough year similar to the 1990s when Baby Jordan ruled the basketball world, or in the 2000s with Blumental and company.

And there really is not much competition in Los Angeles. SUCLA still talks about its dynasty– that ended 40 years ago! And except for one very lucky year in 1995 it has won nothing in those 40 years
    Talk about Yesterday-U.

  14. Within hours of the exchange and the premier of her new movie, Judd was threatening to file charges. Shortly after, she was being praised all over the media for an essay in which she pretended to feel violated. Within the essay, for the third time that I know of, she made herself out to be a victim still recovering from rape and incest. This, in addition to misogyny and harassment.

The timing is a dead giveaway. It was the last time as well. And the time before that. Ashley Judd has made a habit of playing the victim whenever she has a new product to sell. The last time, it was a TV show. The time before that, a book.

I’ll believe Judd’s melodramatic claims of rape and incest when she names her violators (they better be alive to respond) and charges are filed. In the meantime, I’m calling her a liar. After all, if she truly has the courage she claims to have, then she can drop a few names and file a police report. Not for the online crap which MANY of us male and female have dealt with MANY times but for the RAPE and INCEST she has the GALL to allege without making it official in the name of justice.

I’m calling Ashley Judd a liar.

This IS NOT a bash on actual victims of abuse, women, or ANYONE but Judd and the HUNDREDS of celebrities who always pull some sort of publicity stunt in order to save millions over the cost of traditional advertising whenever they have new movies, shows, albums, tours, books, scents, fashion or makeup lines to promote.
