USC Women’s Basketball Loses Two Key Freshmen Players

What is going on with USC women’s basketball? Freshman guard McKenzie Calvert, who averaged 10.2 points per game, and forward Amy Okonkwo, who averaged 3.3 points, received their releases to transfer and will go elsewhere.

Another freshman, Chyanne Butler, transferred at the beginning of the season. And of course, point guard Ariya Crook was dismissed from the university after getting arrested before the season. Oh, and forward Kiki Alofaituli disappeared midway through the season.

There are six players on the current roster returning next season.

  1. “What is going on with USC women’s basketball?” I don’t know, maybe a reporter could find out and write a story, I think that’s called sports/news journalism!

  2. Just like the men’s basketball team…with the exception of the Point guard named “CROOK” (“I don’t make em’ up, Paly”), the one who got arrested. She behaves like she’s on the football team.
    fite UNG!

    • I love you and the bucket, I really do. However, you both refer to some of Jim Healy’s famous lines giving the condoms the ability to say you are the same person. Even if you are, I love it!!

  3. Uh oh, this is serious. Haden’s got to make a call here. Everything looked rosy after the first season but now the truth comes out. To be honest, I was scratching my head after the coaching hire but the first season erased a lot of my doubt. Now, I’m not sure we’re heading in the right direction.

  4. “Kiki Alofaituli disappeared midway through the season” What does this even mean???!!!

  5. Coach Cynthia Cooper turning into the previous Coach Cooper with all these defections. She appears too tough on the ladies at times.
Another Bibby with the doghouse. Again she can’t get the best in SoCal to stay locally. Lost to a low level Colorado team in the first round of the Pac-12 tourney. She deals with the few main supporters in an upbeat manner at lunches and banquets which doesn’t translate onto the court.

    • You’re joking right? The last Cooper was way better than this one. He did not have athletes transferring except Lauren white. He did not have people quit mid-season and join a sorority( Kiki). Yes she won a PAC-12 championship but she won it with another coaches players. She can’t recruit and she can’t even keep her own players that she herself recruited. It’s firing time

  6. I’m going to take a wild guess and say that the current players on the roster, don’t agree with the coaching philosophy of the new head coach. That’s usually how it goes in college sports, just ask Texas Football coach, Charlie Strong.
