Bob Boyd Appreciation Week

BOYD.1978In honor of USC basketball coach Bob Boyd’s memorial service at the Galen Center on Sunday, here’s a picture of him coaching practice in 1978. To the left is forward Cliff Robinson, who was one of 10 players Boyd sent to the NBA. Imagine how it would be today if a USC basketball coach won 24 games like Boyd did twice in his career.

Henry Bibby won 46 games in back to back years…and an Elite Eight Appearance. I don’t need to imagine anything.

Again, I don’t know why Wolfie paints the past with a positive light and the present with such a negative. Must be a reflection of his own life.

    • And therein lies the problem…..much like the trolls on this blog, Scott has no life…..

    • hey, remember when Bibby said he was gonna show the team how to paint the town in New York City, then he took them to KFC?????

      HAWR-HAWR!!! that’s was a GOOD ONE, wolfman!!

      • No, no one remembers. Because SW made it up. Try and find one article, that SW didn’t write, that mentions this fabrication. You can’t and you won’t. It’s just one lie in a long line of SW’s made up stories.

Like in Scarface, “You bought that line.”

        • the wolfman was THERE, it’s called an EXCLUSIVE SCOOOOP!!!

the MAJORITY of wolfman scooops are exclusive!!! that’s why CBS, ESPN, KLAC Radio etc, etc, send LIMOS to bring the wolfman in to appears on their shows….CAUSE HE’S GOT GAME, Dummy!!!!

          • Of course SW was there…

Henry Bibby was asked by Scott Wolf before he took the team out on the town in NYC, “Where are we going?” Henry Bibby, not wanting the low level beat writer to follow, told him “Kentucky Fried Chicken”. Scott Wolf thought he was serious, so he went to the closest KFC and ordered a bucket of wings with 3 side orders and an extra large coke. When USC never showed up, Scott Wolf saw Henry Bibby in the hotel later that night and asked, “Where were you and the team when I was at KFC waiting for you?” Henry replied, “You must have just missed us, or we just missed you”, knowing that he took the team out to a Steakhouse for dinner.

          • Um, coaching in the NBA. Where are you today? McDonald’s or Wendy’s?

    • Aah yes, 2001 and 2002, and that 2001 team made it to the Elite-8. Those were good old days in SC basketball land.

      • Yes they were…if I remember correctly they lost to Duke. I think it was Big Red, Bluthenthal, Clancy, Granville, Desmond Farmer, Trepagnier years.
