USC Morning Buzz: ASU Coach Todd Graham On `Un-American’ Schedules

Arizona State coach Todd Graham blasted the idea that some conferences play only eight games while the Pac-12 plays nine. The SEC plays eight while the Big Ten will play nine beginning in 2017.

“Fans don’t want to see you schedule four easy wins, then get two conference wins to get into a bowl game. That’s un-American,” he said.

Wonder what he thinks of USC playing Arkansas State and Idaho to start the season?

  1. Embarrassing to schedule the way we did this year. Hopefully this will never happen again. Can’t wait to see 50,000 empty seats for these classics.

    • A Klownster with common sense, how refreshing – what an outstanding post.

    • Apparently you don’t know why these teams had to be scheduled. Maybe you should inform yourself before you pop off. You’re ignorant.

      • Excuses, excuses, excuses Stinky. So the mighty Klown U FB program could do no better than schedule two tomato cans.

I can hear the SUCC scheduling rational – “Wool the SEC does it, why shouldn’t we.” Klown U: Nothing but cheap excuses and cupcake schedules.

But Klown U is #1 in Chick Sand Volleyball.

        • Still living on this board? I see you’ve posted more on this thread than any USC fan.

          • Rey, taken a second job have you – a vital statistic gig.

Well everybody needs to make ends meet.

          • How moronic do you have to be to virtually live on a rival’s board 24/7? uclaownszilch defines what a pitiful loser does with his life.

          • I give Stinky. On this blog, here’s what counts: UCLA 38 – Klown U 20.

You Stinky, lead this blog in barking petty adolescent name calling. You’re fast catching up to Three Ball for Klown U loser of the year.

          • Time to clean out your diaper weirdo. You’re well-known here as the most pitiful Troll who needs USC in his life every day. You’re obsessed with me and follow me around like my little puppy – so barking is right up your alley. If your doctor only knew.

          • Vicious Jr. High School repartee. I can’t help it if you continually insert both feet in your mouth with your Klown U Rah-Rah, rant vomit.

            UCLA 38 – SUCC 20 – Don’t forget it Stinky.

        • No conferences titles in two decades. I’m sure you have a great excuse for that.

Must suck living on a rival blog

          • The little gutties couldn’t win a football title if they tried. It’s in their we’re #2 DNA. I mean #3 DNA. The best jobs are USC (unanimous #1) and Oregon. ucla limps into #3. Typical. All hat and no cattle every year.

          • How many conference titles have your Mustangs won in the last two decades, CowPolyFan3.0?

      • I actually consider myself a pretty knowledgeable CFB fan. USC should have higher standards. I know Texas A&M backed out of our game and then scheduled UCLA. I get it and we all know why, but we have to do better than scheduling Ark State and Idaho with New Mexico in the wings. It is clear to me that TPTB wanted seven home games.

I believe we should always schedule teams from the Big 5 conferences. A home and home with a Big 5 like Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma State or Texas Tech guarantees two full stadium games of 75,000 plus rather than 40-45,000 for one game at the Coliseum.

Is it ignorant to think you don’t get a recruiting benefit traveling to football recruiting hotbeds in those regional areas? Meanwhile you have two weeks where you can’t have a recruit to the Coliseum because we will have a half (or more) empty stadium.

Jack B you are a passionate fan like me, but none of us should or will attend those games. However I will travel to those road games every time they get scheduled and will continue to do so.

        • Wow. Sounds like you’re a real college football scheduling expert.

You should obviously be getting paid for your acumen since you apparently know all the ins-and-outs, including the back story to boot for USC’s 2015 schedule.

In the meantime, this is for one year only. ESPN just came out and said USC’s out of conference scheduling from 2016 on for any Pac-12 school is numero uno. Number One in strength. That’s USC. Number One, ahead of every other Pac-12 school.

So, I don’t really know what you’re bitching about. And as far as me not attending the games. Wrong. Too much fun, too good of seats, too many friends I’ve got to catch up with. Too interested in how USC will look with better depth and some great youngsters coming in.

And you’re dead wrong about recruits not wanting to be at the early Coli games because it’ll be half empty. They aren’t stupid and they know who SC plays in 2016, 17, etc. Plus, they love to watch wipe-outs where the team can flex.

I guess all I can say is Bitch-On!

          • Soooo A & M dissed Klown U in favor of UCLA. Funny, funny, funny.

The beautiful Rose Bowl vs the crumbling Mausoleum; Pasadena vs inter-city blight: no contest.

SUCC’s FB program circles the toilet.

          • I never really thought you were this stupid. Now that I know, all I can do is laugh. Here little puppy. Have a bone little gutty.

          • A&M could care less about the visiting facilities. Like the rest of their non-conference schedule, they scheduled the team they thought they’d have the best chance at beating

          • uclaownszilch is too stupid to put that together. He’s unbelievably dumb. You’ll learn.

          • We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. While recruits might like “wipe-outs”, recruits like full, loud stadiums also. Our administration will not schedule visits on those two weekends.

Bottom line that can’t be argued…if its play-off time and USC is among zero loss or one loss teams, we will not get in with this schedule. There is a double standard out there. The SEC can schedule garbage. The west (as evidenced by Baylor last year) can’t. We will sit home at playoff time. For that reason all USC fans should be pissed like I am.

          • You obviously don’t understand the SC brand as well as I do and I’m serious.

We have to beat both ORE and ND in Eugene and South Bend. Plus at ASU in Tempe. Plus the Pac-12 South is well-recognized as a very tough arena this year.

Plus USC will begin the season ranked very high. If USC goes undefeated and you actually think USC won’t make the playoffs, then you must be putting me on. So yes, we could never agree.

          • Fair points. If they are undefeated you are right, I am wrong. One loss…not so sure.

No one can argue that drawing Washington, Stanford, Oregon and the rest of the Pac 12 South gives them an easy road. But isn’t this the same stupid arguement we hear from the SEC each year about their scheduling?.

All I’m saying is the USC brand I know has never in recent memory (40 years??) scheduled this poorly non-conference.

          • You know why it happened and it’s for one single year. Geez. They play ALA, TEXAS and ND. 2016-2018 will be brutal. Frankly, the USC I know has never scheduled that tough. TEXAS is gonna be good again. Real good.

Anyway, no problem for me. We’re on the way back. No FCS teams. Schedule is much tougher than many other big-time programs. We can’t help it if teams like A&M and TENN are afraid of us. It’s actually a compliment.

  2. Considering that ASU has New Mexico and Cal Poly (no offense TrojanFan3.0) on their schedule this season, I’d say that Graham doesn’t have much room to criticize……..

    • Wolf’s real trick is he gets paid to do it. You TOTO, on the other hand, flip burgers for a living.

      • YOU used to flip burgers…… until your undisclosed financial settlement from Jack-In-The-Box came through…….carpal tunnel syndrome from flipping burgers… that was GENIUS of you…..

      • Hey, I started out mopping the floor just like you guys. But now… now I’m washing lettuce. Soon I’ll be on fries; then the grill. In a year or two, I’ll make assistant manager, and that’s when the big bucks start rolling in.

          • Is there something wrong with the soup? Is the soup too hot? Is the soup too cold? Where’s the spoon?

            Classic movie all around.

  3. Wondering Wolfie. Will his lame questions never cease? I wonder what this blog would be like if we had a knowledgeable sportswriter at the helm?

  4. At least Arkansas State and Idaho are D-1 programs and are scheduled at the start of the season, not D-2 teams the SEC schedules in November! Nothing wrong with 1or 2 easy D-1 games to start the season, but what the SEC does is Un-merican.
