Here’s a picture from Bob Boyd’s greatest USC team in 1970-71, which went 24-2 and was ranked No. 1 in the nation. This picture features his successor, then-assistant coach Stan Morrison (looking down on the huddle). Players include guard Paul Westphal, forward Ron Riley and forward Monroe Nash.
I was at both those painful losses – the first one far more impacting than the second (ucla went out to a double digit lead and never looked back).
In the first with < 4 minutes to go it was stunning watching Sidney Wicks personally take control of the court directing the other Bruins (Rowe, Patterson etc.) where to put themselves and bang it was over.
What really was hard was only conference champions were allowed to participate in the NCAA playoff.
Boyd was always a competitor and truly the best coach USC has ever had – considering the antiquated Sports Arena it was a wonder anyone would come to play but he recruited and coached hard.

Leave it to a turd like you to mock – a typical ‘kling on’ who never graduated anything but high school – go crawl under your rock and giggle you ‘festiving fu)topian’…..
You mad bro?
So Otis, in your Hunka-Hunka opinion Sid Wickes was “personally” stunning. Who knew. Don’t tell me you and John Cheever exchanged steamy letters?
Otis,do you spent a lot of time watching Gladiator movies. I’ll wager you crave Heracles flicks starring a well oiled Victor Mature? Can’t get enough can you?
Otis, you rascal you.
Is someone hallucinating severely in here? Yeah, guess so…LOL!!!
Great Seinfeld reference about the Cheever letters.
