Cornerback Josh Shaw Says Lying Lowered His Draft Stock

SHAW.BENGALS

Josh Shaw was selected in the fourth round by the Bengals and said today the notorious incident where he lied about saving his drowning nephew hurt his draft stock.

“It’s the first time in my life I really hit ground bottom. For me being able to overcome that with my family, it was definitely hard at times,” Shaw said. “I know that I’m selected today in the fourth round primarily because of that incident and me lying. The most important thing I learned is to not even put myself in that position and always be truthful.”

  1. The reason josh shaw got drafted so high is because bengals coach Marvin Lewis, does not care about character. He has littered his team with thugs throughout his tenure. Josh shaw is lucky for Marvin Lewis.

    • Man glad to know only Lewis and the Bengals are the sole team to dare to draft ‘problems’ – he is right his lie did him nothing but well deserved contempt but hey he finally manned up and paid the consequences – low pick – back to square one to prove himself but still and now a ‘pro’.

  2. The NFL thinks more of Shaw, who didn’t even play last season after being humiliated for one of the stupidest lies ever, than they do Cow Eyes Hundley, who couldn’t get a sniff until round 5 and dropped further than any QB in the entire draft.

    • Hundley stinks and will be lucky to have a career holding a clipboard in the league

      • Yet he beat SC 3 times in a row, Golly-Nerd. See how trashing him makes SC look bad? Oh wait that might be higher than your pay scale. Better stick to Star Wars trivia , Golly-Nerd. It is fun seeing you and the Brony Jackie-Girl interact.

        • Beating USC 3 straight times didn’t help him, apparently. ..at least he has bragging rights. …

          • Exactly – one doesn’t have anything to do with the other. Hundley will always have his 3-0 record vs SC and no success or results in the league to rival that.

          • Future results aren’t predicated upon past success or failure – that’s that point, brainiac

          • Now Golly-Nerd, getting censored isn’t any way to prepare for your Best Wookie Costume contest tonight!

          • Sound like something Laker Rod said over on Inside UCLA. Are you his twin?

Future results aren’t predicated is correct…however they aren’t to be fully discarded. I would rather place my bets on people that have had past success than those that have had none at all. Every now and then you get the Clippers beating the Spurs, but the odds are normally with the people or teams that have a tradition of success.

          • The Clippers beat the Spurs because they are on the up and father time finally caught up with the Spurs. That doesn’t take away from what the Spurs have done the last decade plus (the Spurs were the 6 seed after all… the Clippers were the better team over the course of the season). Again, nothing against what Hundley did – he beat SC 3 times, good for him. His game/strengths will not transfer to the NFL.

          • Golly-Nerd has many sock puppets. Do you prefer Veritas, Golly-Nerd. Laker Rod or JohnWooden?

          • But Linedirt flopped miserably at the next level – the NFL – The highest level of FB.

Linedirt just couldn’t handle the competition.

          • I have a feeling when Mora said that he thought he could talk Hundley into staying. Little did he know Hundley’s ego would run with it and leave after his 3rd season as a starter.

  3. So what lowered Hundley’s draft stock? …..some experts claim it was because he refused to participate in the Senior Bowl…..his poor accuracy and inability to read coverages supposedly contributed to his stock plummeting. …

    • Or they watched film of his performances against Oregon and Stanford.

      • And the DN has seen all 10500+ of your posts and still won’t give you your own blog…

        • Golly-Nerd, is it true you are 0-10,500 in Best Wookie Costume Contests? Good luck tonight!

  4. I would say Shaw’s bigger problem was not playing much in 2014 so that the pros did not have much to go on as far as his abilities.

The Lie was not as bad as some guys smoking mary jane the week of the draft or being questioned about murder.

  5. Josh Shaw issues were’t issues with any nfl team,Manti Teo told a much bigger lie, but he was still drafted in the first round. The USC Athletic department were just too paranoid, and they were upset because they were made a fool of by releasing the “Hero” information before it was confirmed. Shaw was drafted right where he was projected to be, but his ego thought otherwise.
