College football analyst Phil Steele likes to project where teams will be ranked in the AP Top 25 preseason poll. He has USC No. 7. UCLA is No. 11. Oregon is No. 5, Arizona State No. 16 and Stanford No. 25.

    • With all due respects Helen, you cannot take ESPN seriously when it comes to usc football. Every year they overhype the Trojans. There are so many people in the LA area, and they want to keep those people excited, and get traffic to their various media outlets. You can say the same for ucla, too. Everyone says ESPN has an east coast bias. What I say is that they have a bias for teams, with a lot of fans.

        • ESPN is very buffoonish! I don’t even watch that network anymore, unless there is a game on it that I need to see. There are so many times, when I mute ESPN so I don’t have to hear their garbage.

      • Really? ‘overhype’? The most 1st round picks since the common draft began in 1967 (68 chosen) and the next closest program a full 10 back of that?

        Picking USC is the one common decision made by any credible analyst because the best talent wants to play there and that’s because having made the squad they have an advantage over all the rest year in year out – those pre-season picks have nothing to do with fans per USC. Now as to: AL? NE? MI St.? OH St.? MI? TX? Yes then again if that were the case you believe ucla has steady fans? it has everything to do with the talent. Where the best choose to go to play year after year and believe me it isn’t ucla.

You’d think they’d be really good, but they never are except in their own minds. Typical draft weekend for the little gutties: only three taken, all under-drafted with the star QB relegated to NFL afterthought.

          They also never “almost” played for a national championship, but blame a hurricane.

  5. Well, Phil Steele is not read by over 90% of SUCLA or SC fans, and i don’t believe what he states.

    :So let’s see how the 2015 season plays out, because we know it will be interesting, and UNPREDICTABLE.
