USC Morning Buzz: Stanford Band Will Not Visit Coliseum In 2015

There will be no Stanford band at the Coliseum on Sept. 19 following the announcement the band is barred from traveling for a year for violations involving alcohol, hazing and sexual harrassment.

More important, with the band not coming to the Coliseum, can USC band director Art Bartner finally bury the “Countermarch,” the no-longer funny imitation of the Stanford band that dates back to at least 1981.

  1. They haven’t been funny, edgy or hip in like 25 years. They’ve become a group of sniveling little brats more focused on inside jokes that no one else gets but them. Kinda like the bruin trolls on his board.

  2. Morning Buzz:

Five Michigan players have left the team with a year of eligibility remaining since new coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff arrived in January. Scottie was miffed that USC didn’t hire Harbaugh when Kiffin departed.

    • Scott was miffed when Five Guys gave him regular fries instead of Cajun style fries. ….

    • The Dr. Rachel Maddow of Inside USC doesn’t remember how Pete Carroll thinned the herd when he took over at SC.

      • Dude, cyber stalking is a crime. You really need to seek professional help.

          • Sure you do. Youi and the other rah rahs accused him of making the Bryce Dixon story up. You were wrong. Be man enough to apologize. In Dr Rachel Maddow of Inside USC’s case she should be butch enough to admit she was wrong.

          • Ask USC Scout to appoligize for their story. That’s their quote. Do you stalk everyone you envy? Or is it lust after in Helen’s case. You really should seek help. If you tried reading something other the scooters site you would see there is a place between trolling and blind loyalty. You seem to be educated yet act stupid. Your speel is old and tired. Even in down years the SC program is more respected then the program across town.

          • They didn’t post here, YOU did. You were wrong, Scott was right so apologize.

          • You are stupid aren’t you. Take a look. It’s a quote. I expressed no opionion. And Scott was wrong. He was only dismissed this week. What’s you problem dummy? Is the concept of a quote to hard for you to comprehend? Now go stalk someone else, you’re starting to get on my last nerve.

          • Next time you decide to post you “opionion” and accuse someone of being stupid, make sure you use spell check. YOU were wrong and YOU owe Scott an apology:

Remember when Josh “3rd Story Jumper” had not “been dismissed from the team”? Whether Dixon’s off or just “not dismissed”, he’s done.

Remember when he came back and played for two games? Facts are facts. Josh was suspended. Dixon is suspended. Not off the team.

      • No I don’t remember that GueyToy – why don’t you enlighten us with some facts.

        • Enligfhten us with your apology to Scott Wolf, Rachel Maddow of Inside USC.

          • Better watch the typos, Scotty, wouldn’t want your cover blown now would you?

          • Golly-Nerd is having the time of his young life at the Motor City Comic Con convention in Detroit where it’s cool to be a nerd.

          • Just what I thought, the Dr Rachel Maddow of Inside USC isn’t butch enough to admit she was wrong.

          • … still waiting for the list of people that left the program after Carroll joined USC.

          • Still waiting for your apology to Scott Wolf after he proved you to be a brainless buffoon once again, Dr. Rachel Maddow of Inside USC

Exactly. Scottie is taking what little Sark said at the press conference and making the rest up. As they say… a broken clock is right twice a day.4

    • Weak players always transfer when a Real Stand up Coach is hired, Look at the situation over at Texas with Charlie Strong. And there is no way you can question Jim Harbaugh, or Strong’s coaching methods, because both won at Schools with lesser programs. So let the weak players continue to transfer, because I guarantee, they will be looking up at the programs they left.

      • Actually I am questioning Harbaugh’s coaching style, not unlike numerous former players. There’s a difference between arrogance (Harbaugh) and confidence (Carroll).

        • Pete is a lot more arrogant than you think. It’s just that he has so much charisma, that it masks his arrogance.

          • Pete Carroll is a great coach. But his arrogance didn’t help him out in the eyes of the ncaa. There are rumors, that the reason the ncaa come down so hard on usc is because they wanted to stick it to Pete Carroll. Arrogance can come back to bite you in the butt sometimes.

          • I think scott wolf may be gotroy22. I Just have this gut feeling. Gotroys beliefs are so similar to Scott wolf’s. Also Everytime I see the Rachel Maddow thing, I get reminded of Scott wolf.

          • How did you see that so fast. That is another reason I think you might be Scott wolf. Your opinions match wolf’s To a T. When I saw your post about Ed orgeron being a great coach, a light went on in my head. Scott wolf always praises orgeron. Whenever you upvote me it’s always similar opinions to Scott wolf. I have been reading Scott for like 10 years, and I know him very well. I’ve never met him before, but I know him very well.

          • If you had ever read Scott’s posts on Wild West you would know better. It doesn’t take a genius to see how Ed salvaged a team on the brink of destruction and beat #5 ranked Stanford and brought joy back to the Coliseum. Ed inspired the team to overachieve. Sark overcoaches the team into losses.

          • Drunk, Drunk, Drunk. You are showing how ignorant you are. Call your sponsor NOW.

          • Charlie Bucket is Scott Wolf’s Internet avatar and he has essentially told me so. Scott is not a hater like Owen and GueyToy, but pictures himself as a comedian.

Owen and GueyToy work for the DN and are here to defend Scott and “bootstrap the discussions” by attacking readers. They are not very creative and hence use the same themes in their posts. Their posts reflect a redneck, Republican, Fox-loving personality and I don’t see that in Scott.

          • The Dr. Rachel Maddow of Inside USC works for the USC SID and is here to defend anything USC does, no matter how stupid, and “bootstrap the discussions” by attacking anyone who dares to utter a peep of dissent from the party line. She is not creative or bright and uses the same “My school right or wrong” theme in all her posts. Her posts reflect a amoral Alinsky Democrat, MSNBC loving personality that worships any authority figure and demonizes any and all threats to that authority.

          • Buick Red, not all the pertinent emails haven’t been released. Klown U big shots don’t want that!.

          • The NCAA is essentially a bully so the question is how best to deal with a bully – do you bend over and take it or do you punch him/her in the mouth? Carroll stood by his convictions that the program was not involved and I respect him for that. Yes, the NCAA responded by giving USC a harsher penalty. I find it ironic that some people say USC acted to arrogantly at the time and then say USC should pursue legal retribution now that it is clear the NCAA acted inappropriately.

          • Except poor innocent Pete stood by his convictions and hired an extra assistant coach in blatant violation of NCAA rules. Sorry to ruin your USC SID approved conspiracy yarn, Dr Rachel Maddow of Inside USC. I find it ironic that you actually think you are an aggrieved victim when you want to cleanse this site of all dissent.

        • Yeah the Woodchuck was so confident on the Patriot 2 yd line that the Genius conjured an interception to lose the SB. Hooray for Petey.

Certainly the Genius Woodchuck was confident his Klownster FB team would skunk the 41 pt. dog Stanford team at the crumbling Dump. The Woodchuck confidently loss. Confidence on Buick Red.

The Woodchuck was so confident again Tixas, because he had a 12 pt. lead with 10 minutes to go. Then and then, the Woodchucker snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

You gotta love Little Petey Woodchuck’s confidence. He be a Genius, just ask Little Petey.

        • You should be ashamed to mention the two in the same sentence, not even close

      • That concept is beyond the Rachel Maddow if Inside USC and SoCalScrub-69.

      • You can’t say that about Mora. He lacks quality of character and tackness.

    • Harbaugh had no interest in coming to usc. He was looking at the nfl. He didn’t even have any interest in Michigan back then.

      • He’s unlikeable just like Mora, but he can win – that’s all – an that’s not what SC is all about

          • That could have been true, or maybe he was doing it for leverage. Harbaugh, and 49ers gm Trent baalke were at war at the time, and owner Jed York was on baalke’s side. That is why harbaugh got fired.

          • Could be. At the time I was 25% hoping SC would pursue him, but then I sobered up.

          • Even though I don’t care for the guy. I respect his coaching ability. And can’t argue with the matter. He’s a smart coach.

        • “Tough love” works a lot better in college football than the nfl. Mora, and harbaugh are both tough love coaches, and a lot of their former nfl players did not like it. But as far as college football is concerned their coaching styles are perfect for it.

          • Richard Sherman is a jackass! He doesn’t like harbaugh because harbaugh did not give him glowing reviews right before the draft. Harbaugh took over a team that one 1 game in 2006, and 4 years later they were 12-1. That was one of the greatest turnarounds ever.

        • That’s funny, John McKay was not “likeable”. He was just as tough as nails and intense as Harbaugh. You really know nothing about USC , Rah Rah 4 SC.

  3. I don’t understand why usc lets the Stanford band perform at halftime anyways, when the game is played at the coli. They are straight up disrespectful to usc, and usc just lets them do it every 2 years.

    • Who cares what they do with their time. Complaining about that is as weak as the pu55ies at the Rose Bowl crying about the SC drum major.

  4. It’s reported that Kiffin got $3.4M the year he left….more than Scotty will EVER earn in his LIFETIME.

  5. Compared to the “Spirit of Troy” any band who is on the other side of the coliseum is gonna get schooled. Including Stanford. Yes. We take pride in our marching band. They sound like a bunch of kids jacked up on Jolt Cola who can’t act civilized. That’s too bad. IMO Every football team needs the band in attendance. They can rock out in Maples pavilion while they witness our fight song being played after we cross the end zone. WE ARE SC✌️

  6. The Stanford Band lost its edge and humor years ago and Mr. Jenkins now finds them about as unique as a Snap-e-Tom Bloody Mary at a tailgate party. However, it remains amusing to see what they do in a car crash kind of way. I’ve long wished the TMB would perform their Countermarch on The Farm and hope Art Bartner will do it as a parting shot if/when he ever retires.

  7. I am hoping the same thing happens to the ugly band this year and forever. It is a third rated band just behind the kazoo band of cal tech.

  8. Wow over 90 comments about the band? Oh wait after reading some and skimming most I see that troll vitriol is alive and well in the LA area. I didn’t see one posted by the kid with golden ticket, but the rest of the gang is here.
Well on topic : When the Stanford band becomes serious again maybe they can make a relevant contribution to halftime. Until then playing The Standard of St. George is still fun to watch. Scott can skip out for a second snack.
