Pat Haden Paid More Than $2.5 Million in 2013 Per USA Today

USC athletic director Pat Haden was paid more than $2.5 million in compensation in 2013 and was probably the nation’s top-paid AD, according to USA Today. It also reports Lane Kiffin and Kevin O’Neill were given nearly $2,2 million in severance pay the same year. Full story here

  1. How about Charlie Weiss milking ND, like he is?

“Former Fighting Irish football coach Charlie Weis continues to receive more money from the school than any athletics employee. He again received nearly $2.1 million in 2013 as part of an ongoing separation agreement that, according to the return, includes additional payments through December 2015.”

    • not as much as Kiff.

i also hear there was an under the table settlement with wolfman for the unjust practice ban 3 yrs ago. that’s probably another $1mil a year (off the books)

      • BTW, a belated congratulations on eclipsing 7000 posts just on this latest iteration of your Charlie Bucket account.
What is your best estimate of your grand total of USC related posts, 30K, 40K?
        Or am I underestimating?

        • definitely Underestimating. i’d put the estimate CONSERVATIVELY at 70-90K. recall i’ve been here 15-20 yrs as Bucket, Son of Bucket, Ghost of Bucket, Return of Bucket as well as in Consultation to Yoda, Count and some others.

my only regret is that i can’t be on here backing up the wolfman MORE.

          • By “some others”, I am assuming you mean several female themed handles as well as hijacking other innocent poster’s accounts.

You’re making progress in admitting the depths of your issues.

      • I heard the $2.5 million figure doesn’t count the open bar, making it closer to $5 million a year.

      • He hitched his wagon to Jimmy Clausen and his coaching career never got off the ground…..not that he was really ever head coaching material to begin with……much like Norm Chow and, yes, Lane Kiffin….

  2. Did anybody actually believe Pat Haden would accept the Athletic Directors position for $ 1 million dollars ? He was a very successful Attorney, and entrepreneur in the private sector, so there was no way he would have worked for that amount. USC are experts at hiding the amount they pay their top employees. And when Pete Carroll’s salary was rumored to be in the 4 million dollar range, it was actually close to 6 million, SC was just a little creative in the way they compensated him.

  3. Imagine how much he would be making if:
    1. He didn’t bumble on the lane kiffin firing.
    2. The basketball team didn’t finish dead last in the conference the last 2 seasons
    3. The josh shaw fiasco didn’t happen
    4. The baseball team didn’t underachieve for so many seasons.
    5. The football team hadn’t lost to ucla the last 3 seasons.

Endowments must be up since he got hired.

  4. I guess you don’t always get what you pay for.

Dan Guerrero is every bit as bad for 1/3 the money!

  5. Money.

If a man makes $50,000 a year he should be able to get by if he does not have too many children

If a man makes $100,000 a year, then if he is careful with the money, he should be able to afford a wife and some kids.

After $100,000 it is all gravy. Most of us do not need that much. And only a few make that and more, so let them have it.
We don’t need it to be happy.

    • JW, you definitely need more in 2015 in Los Angeles.

Personally, I never found “getting by” to be enough.
