USC Kickoff Times Setting Pattern

Six of USC’s regular-season start times are set and they are all 5 p.m. or later. Washington, Washington State and Oregon are going to host 11 a.m. games as part of the Pac-12’s attempt to reduce night games. But it will probably never attempt to reduce USC’s night games.

  1. I’m as big a fan of day games as anyone else, but even you know it’s all about dollars and cents, Scott…USC is the cash cow for the Pac-12 and Larry Scott will attempt to get the Trojans on during prime time as much as he can….

      • This your new id moron? Tired of being ignored for the goof you’ll always be.

        Get lost

          • Right back at you with your ‘new id’ you’re still the same obsessive ‘UCLA owns LA Football’ your use of controlling any counter is proof of your hypocrisy and you’ve been flagged with your new phony ‘id’.

  2. Day games compete with East coast games for East coast attention. Say what you will about Larry Scott, he has been aggressive about making money for the Pac-12 and increasing its exposure.

    • The only game that USC plays in the eastern time zone is against Notre Dame……..the rest of the games are PT and MT….not too much traveling this year…

      • Somehow, I don’t think that the SNL crowd fits into our target demographic, but I could be wrong….

        • Insomniacs by any other name. Any football fans on the East Coast are asleep by then after having watched football games for 11 hours by then.

  3. Heln and 8 Krap have it right – wny compete w. CBS/SEC when the entire evening is there for the taking i.e. ‘MNF’ every Saturday night originating from the Pac-12 and mind you nearly all match ups beginning btwn. 4:30 – 6:00 pm PST (7:30 – 9:00 PM EST) – it’s what keeps bar patrons watching the tube as they continue to purchase their drinks and the barkeeps east of the MTZ couldn’t be happier.

Scott has ensured attention is focused west and all the networks have to ‘watch’ and ‘cover’ for fear the competition will scoop them.

  4. 11 am games are awful for fans and for teams no one cares about. The 5 pm slot ia the best both for the fans who actually attend and then national exposure as well. So… this is a good thing.

  5. Now look at when three of UCLA’s matchups begin – 10:30 PM EST

Saturdays @ UNLV 12th Sept. BYU 19th Sept. and Thursday @ Stanford. Man now that’s some marketing scheme – wonder what time the AZ St. game will begin on the 13th Nov.? 7:00 pm PST?

      • I’d rather not say, but two of the Teams have programs on the rise if you use the eye test, and common sense.

        • I must have poor eyesight and zero common sense (which my ex-wife would probably confirm), but I can only see 3 potential losses….considering that 7 of the 12 games are at home and most of the Pac-12 teams will be breaking in a new QB, I’m just having a really difficult time seeing 5 losses….I mean, the best QB that we’ll be facing this year will be Jared Goff from CAL….BUT, I suppose that any team is potentially capable of beating another team in the Pac-12 …. and key injuries are always a wild card….

          • I wasn’t trying to insult you, I was just making a general statement, but I will say that the two teams I’m speaking of, have fairly new coaches who had success at other schools.

          • No insult was taken, Fred…….you’re one of few level headed contributors to this blog….and my sarcasm doesn’t always translate very well in written form….I figured that those were the teams you were suggesting, but it still doesn’t add up to 5 losses, in my mind….oh, well… it’ll be fun (and stressful) to see how it all plays out…… Fight On!
