Phil Steele Likes Max Wittek

Washington State Cougars vs USC TrojansCollege football analyst Phil Steele picks Max Wittek as his quarterback for his All-Mountain West Conference first team. A reader informs me Steele’s second choice, Joe Gray, has not even been named the starter yet.

      • Hi ‘gotroy 22’ like your ‘name change’?

Now remember when you ‘flip’ your log-in – can’t be too quick otherwise you’ll show you’re what you want to be ‘Sybill’ because we all know there’s a 3rd one in that noggin of yours just a waiting to pop out

  1. Probably based on being a former USC QB. Max hasn’t had any serious playing time forever and who knows how much rust he will have.

  2. Should have kept Wittek… Sarkisian blunder… Oh well there are worse places to go in december then Las Vegas.

    • According to the blogger, USC would have been a better team with all of Wittek’s interceptions.

      • As we know with all the could haves should haves and players who committed else where, our depth chart would be15 deep at every position and we could field 2 top 25 teams.

    • I’m critical of Sark–for calling plays, game management, lack of adjustments, lack of involvement with the defense, indecisiveness about his objectives on offense, etc., etc.

However, I didn’t see Orgeron start Wittek, and I never read one regular observer of USC practices who suggested it.

What do you make of that?

  3. Good for Max that he’s under consideration !!Wish him all the best.Wolf as for your comment about Gray, did you consider confirming before posting? Instead of “reader informs”……..Fight on Moderators !!!

  4. I was always nervous with Max at quarterback. He had the split second hesitation, which behind the line he had would have been too long. For the record I try to keep up with any former USC players does anyone know what happened to Emanuel Moody?

  5. Norm Chow has a reputation of producing a productive Quarterback out of nothing at the college level, which is what he did with Matt Leinart.. So I predict big things with Max Wittek, because he actually has an NFL arm, unlike Leinart.
