Rick Neuheisel On Diddy

Former UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said on his SiriusXM radio show the fact Justin Combs had a famous father influenced his decision to offer him a scholarship.

“`I took them on their campus tour,” Neuheisel said. “A half-hour into it, (Diddy) asked me who I was. He said, ‘Tell me what you do, Rick.’ I said, ‘I’m the head football coach here.’ He said, ‘You’re giving us the tour?’ I said, ‘Absolutely, this is my school. This is where I went. I want to give you a feel of what it’s like to be a student.’

“When you’re weighing the assets of what a youngster can do for your program, there’s no question [being Diddy’s son] had something to do with it for me. Justin is a great kid. His problem was his size. He’s not big enough to be a dominant player. Could he be productive? Yes. The fact his father was an influential guy played into my decision to go ahead and offer him.”

  1. Say what you will about New Weasel, but he’s a straight shooter…at least he was in this situation……

    • I agree – Rick is usually very objective – his analysis on both TV and radio is very balanced. I’ll also give him credit for being up front and not backing down on what he thought and why.

Sadly that kid’s old man already had a horrific record or violence and being allowed to ‘walk away’ w.o. any penalty just as he is going to do this time as well.

  2. Since this has worked out so well maybe they can give a scholarship to Michael Jackson’s son in a few years.

  3. It’s called STREET CRED, wolf-dog!!! That’s how we DO IT, boyeeeeees!!!!

YO!, West Coast, East Coast, UCLA Coast, phat Coast, dogg!!!!

    #ItsLikeThatDogg

    • Keep DOING IT………..You guys will be the next Clown School in no time at all………but at least you’ll have street cred….

    • Next hip hop father involved assault…..Snoop Dogg choking Mora for taking Cordell Broadus out of the game after 1 play.

    • Mr Bucket:
I had some whooly street cred in my time. I’m not sure anything Mr Neuheisel did could offer any more street cred than maybe John Denver. Nellie get my NWA albums I’m feeling dirty.

      • Coime on Golly_Nerd, we know you only listen to John Wiliams “Star Wars” sound track.

    • When is Bucket coming out with his latest rap album. Gotta give the Cadre some street cred, whatever the fack that is.

  4. He said, ‘Tell me what you do, Rick.

I said, ‘I’m the head weasel here.’

  5. Okay…. enough with this Diddy nonsense…. it’s official….not that it’s any surprise, but USC has landed former Florida tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe, according to a report by Rivals……….

    • Oh man I didn’t see your post – I threw it up just after 6 o’clock – talk about the legacy drawing nationally – If the NCAA declines to stop mini-camps then Sark needs to have a mini-camp next Spring in the mid-west to match Harbaugh’s – MI camp down in Mission Viejo

      • Of course you didn’t see his post….It was smack in the middle of HAPPY HOUR….talk about your vision being blurred…..
        fit ung

  6. Sounds like Ricky was up to his old “gamble” and see if it pays off mentality again. Can’t fault him. Too be quite honest, he would been a better UCLA coach moving forward over Mora. Especially in the loyalty department and in tbe selling of the school’s limited football history.

    • That’s what I sense after reading he (Neuheisel) was the origin of the offer to the kid – looking for some national attention that had been missing, save 1998, for a long time.

This is the media capital of the world – it’s what draws so many here to live and for athletes well USC is a presence in the NFL and ucla knew that knows that and now wishes it foolishly hadn’t gotten involved with this entire mess.

This is going to be one big tar baby no matter how it is spun.

      • One miserable ego talking about another but going too far in explaining the extra details is a noted symptom of this condition.

    • Golly_Nerd knows about limited histories, like his 0-229 streak at Comic Con Convention Best Wookie Costume contests.

  7. There is actually news happening, but then Wolf hasn’t had time to cut and paste it on here.

  8. 1. I don’t know this Diddy guy from Bo Diddly. I guess he made a fortune with his music, but his type of music is totally unknown to me. But like most people of influence he obviously parlayed it into a bully pulpit of the SUCLA football program. And Neuweasel thought the creep would donate big bucks to SUCLA, so why not admit his low-talent football son, who everybody knew would never see the field

    2. Criminal defense lawyers have given the name “attorneys” a bad rap. “My client was framed, the evidence will set him free, the neutral witnesses are lying, my client was misunderstood, etc etc etc.”

    Gad, I hate these lawyers.

But the facts of this case are that Diddy, or whoever he calls himself, attacked somebody with a lethal weapon. No one else used a lethal weapon. Apparently, he tried to hurt somebody, but missed, and unfortunately for him, he TRIED to kill or maim a SUCLA person with that weapon. Since no one was hurt badly SUCLA will try to sweep this under the rug, but the L.A. district attorney office has a different agenda, and one that is designed to protect the public no matter what that “public” has to say. But we shall see, although I think they will be forced to prosecute and ol’ Diddy will do some jail time.

  9. Over on ‘bleacher report’ the following:

“USC has landed former Florida tight end Daniel Imatorbhebhe, according to a report by Rivals dot com.

    Daniel Imatorbhebhe, who enrolled
early with the Gators, was a member of the 2015 class and spent just a
    semester in Gainesville, Fla.

He is the older brother of Josh Imatorbhebhe, a four-star wide receiver in the 2016 class committed to the Trojans.”

    • I’ll bet Scotty’s female assistant…Silverwhat’s her name could help out…Her, a water bed, a bottle of baby oil and a couple of raw eggs should take care of things.
      fit ung….

    • Being able to achieve one, at all, is a miracle unto itself……is it true that if you don’t use it, you lose it?

  10. I have no quarrel with Diddy (or even kettlebells) but how could he not even recognize the head coach?! I know UCLA isn’t a major football program, like Northern Arizona or Eastern Washington, but still!

  11. TRICKY RICKY coming to save UCLA, which is fine, but to say we gave him a scholarship because of who his dad was, is a joke and another TRICKY RICKY lie. We know TRICKY RICKY has a history of lying. UCLA gets 25 scholarships a year and to WASTE one on a kid who can’t and won’t play, is B.S.

The problem is this HOTHEAD coach, not the kids or parents. UCLA hired this guy knowing he has pleaded guilty to STALKING charges, he was KICKED out of the NFL for tripping a player running during a game. Does anyone think this is the first kid he has ABUSED. These coaches are frustrated wannabe jocks so they find a ‘ kid ‘ they can pick on to make them feel TOUGH. This kid is maybe 5’8″ go pick on some 6’5″ linemen, or Miles Jack, players who can and would whip his butt.
