Can Adoree Jackson Make United States Olympic Team?

Embedded image permalinkBuffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin had not jumped competitively in the long jump since the 2012 Olympics but jumped 27-5.5 at the USA track and field championships last weekend. And it was still not good enough as he finished fourth and did not qualify for the World Championships.

Adoree Jackson jumped a personal-best 25-11.5 when he finished fifth at the NCAA championships earlier this month. What is my point? If Jackson wants to make the Olympic team, he will need to skip spring practice next year.

    • Perhaps Sark fears that peter is correct that Adoree would have to redshirt this year and skip Sping Football to concentrate only on the long jump to even have a chance at making the Olympics.

  1. Scottie, I think your point is that Adoree needs to get better if he is to make the Olympics in the long jump. Skipping spring practice doesn’t guarantee he will get better.

  2. So so much information you are omitting SW.First I want to say is if Andoree wants to jump indoors and then spring , let him… HOWEVER to compare him to Goodwin is crazy.. Goodwin set the National HS record long jump 26′ 10″. !!!! Plus was one of the best junior sprinters in World before college.!!! To then review his college years , where he was jumping 27′ on an consitant level as freshman and on.Andoree is a great athelete , no question… But to really have even a chance to reach the distance necessary, he would have to skip Fall football, compete indoors, improve a foot and a half and so much more.
Goodwin is an whole different track star, different level.A World class junior in HS….let Andorre follow his passion in spring, but as a writer on Olympic matters SW you are CLUELESS.

  3. This is funny. AJ is 1 1/2 foot short of the 5th best finisher (who didn’t qualify) but, he’ll have to skip 6 weeks of spring football to qualify.

  4. Meanwhile, over at Florida State, the hits just keep on coming! Let’s see how the Tallahassee Police Department spin this latest drama with their freshman QB hitting a woman in a night club bar last night…..

  5. Skipping next spring at least! The question is how much of difference and how long would it take to go from football fitness to long jump shape? Then can increase enough to qualify. Even if he doesn’t make it, he should take his shot.

  6. Mr Wolf:
Your logic in this scenario seems to misleading and incorrect. If you where one of my players I would sit you on the bench and give you sometime to digest. Nellie who is this guy?

  7. 1 1/2 feet away from having a chance to qualify?– That is an infinite amount of real estate to make up in track & field.

The kid can practice 10 hours a day and he won’t ever hit 27 feet.

  8. A Jackson can’t even make the podium in the ncaa meet… A Jackson needs to work on getting off blocks on the WR screens during the spring! The dude needs to put on some muscles! The dude gets pushed around like a market basket at costco.
