QB Tate Martell Gets A 5th Star

Tate Martell, the 5-10 wunderkind from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas was awarded a fifth star by Scout.com today. The service ranks him the No. 2 QB  in the country. Dare we mention that last year Scout had Ricky Town as its No. 1 QB before it quickly reshuffled and took away his fifth star and then made Josh Rosen its No. 1 QB.

  1. gotroy22 is a pathetic internet stalker…he has no life so the internet is his life…he has stalked and trolled every person on here, but no one pays attention to him.

This week at “Inside USC”, we will have Scott Wolf, the troll monger…and the Internet Stalker known as gotroy22. They will be here all week…Enjoy!

    • He was apparently captain of his high school debate team and likes to argue about EVERYTHING, without having an intelligent discussion about the actual subject at hand……

      • Interesting how the original comment was “deleted” but the subsequent dialogue between Bucket and Roy was completely disappeared by the mods – makes one wonder…

    • Dude, Goo-goo has taken up residence in yer HEAD!!

But don’t provoke him, he broke T-Fail and Gary Bluesux….don’t become a statistic.

    • The One, The Only you mustn’t don’t forget his other two nomme de plummes:

      Rod Dadieaux ‘and’
      UCLA Owns LAFootball

      • commie, you must not forget Golly_Nerd_’s other two nomme de plummes: John Wooden and Veritas.

  2. Scott, this would be a GREAT topic for an article……why don’t you actually conduct some meaningful research as to WHY this flip-flopping of stars happens amongst the various recruiting sites?…. follow the money, and I’m sure you’ll find the answer, if you haven’t already figured it out by now……….

  3. We get it Scottie – he’s 5-10. Russell Wilson is 5-11, played in two Super Bowls, won one Super Bowl (blew one Super Bowl with a terrible pass), and about to become the highest paid QB in the NFL.

    • Besides small, is he a team leader, player? Kid wants to start as freshman. The kid from Hawaii looks quite good to me.. Martell has that Jonny football going on.At USC he would have to pay his dues, don’t think he wants to.

      • Yeah. I can’t see him waiting till his sophomore or junior season to play. He’ll end up at A&M or Oregon. The real part that bugs me is that we’ll lose his teammate and stepbrother Tyjon Lindey another 5 star by some services

        • Yes agree… Toss up between those schools.. Lindey is probably a package deal.

          • We’re gonna have stay on Tua Tagovailoa. He’s my first choice at qb. Our toughest competition for him is Oregon, but he just said on Thursday that SC is still his top choice at the Rising Stars.

          • Tu I think is the USC guy to get…Martel is A Vegas kinda guy..I think after Kessler’s excellent senior year.. Max Browne is going to be great..so its going to be, baring injury 2018 before any other QB really plays.. Time come I’m really looking forward to Browne !!

          • Browne could play this season if needed and play at a high level. I hope Kessler stays healthy and leads us to big things, but Browne will be ready.

          • Browne is ready..!!!I I would like to see him get quality snaps, but not because of injury or Heisman hipe..

          • Don’t worry. I think Kessler gets us over the hump this year. A win over the Bruins, and I think he and the Trojans have what it takes to win the Pac12 title. One game at a time. No looking ahead.

          • One game at a time so right… Think this is the true turn around season after sanctions..forget the first two games, which I’m kinda glad are tune ups with the expanded roster.. Then from there one of the toughest schedule in CF.Every game a challenge… PAC 12 title would be huge..its going to be a nail biter..but were on the way back.

          • If we can beat Stanford at home and ASU on the road I think we start rolling. The schedule is tough, but we have more talent.

          • Talent is there, Huge.I believe that the players are more mature and definite leaders have come forth… Incoming freshman are loaded with potential to be difference makers..Coaching I believe has learned and matured, and still has to show they are up to the talent level of the players they have recruited..there’s excellent coaching in PAC, makes it so competitive week to week..” One hell of a ride”

  4. 5-10 is just too short for a QB operating in a pro-style drop back offense like USC’s, 5 star or not. How many of Booty’s passes were knocked down during games (one particular knock down ended a USC drive lat in the game to beat UCLA). Painful still…

      • You are correct and I knew that as I was posting here… back in 1972, it was a different game with different sized defensive linemen playing. I think Haden would admit a 6-4 QB is a better option for today’s offensive game plans…

  5. Why always so negative on this kid? Always mention his height…he has two years to grow and is a stud, no matter what his height is. Watch him play instead of just judging his height.
