Maybe the Lakers would do better in free agency if Kobe Bryant walked into room and said, “you only have to play with me for one season.”

Basically, yes.
That’s pretty much all it would take. Tell him that and that the Lakers plan to pursue Kevin Durante next year and and another free agent and sign them both to max deals.
Radio reported that the little doggie ‘Kobe’ showed to the meeting attired in shorts, a white t-shirt and a gold chain around his neck – this was in sharp contrast to how the rest of the attendees were dressed.
Remember last October when Jeannie decided to go crazee by calling anyone who chose not to play for the Lakers as ‘losers’ – well that game plan plus high taxes will ‘magically’ fail to succeed anytime especially when a big part of the sales job was ‘non-basketball activities’ and especially the little doggie deigning to appear as the ‘real’ reason everyone is in ‘the room’.
Kobe kobe Kobe…what a funny sounding name you have….how come no one wants to be near you?
You mean the high taxes of the Governor Moonbeam and the 2/3rds majority Democrat Assembly and Senate actually are discouraging athletes from playing for California teams?
Not only here but also in NY – TX, FL have much lower taxes. Have to say the Warriors are NBA Champs but they play as a team instead of one ‘egomaniac’ and four serfs.
But Aldridge did not choose the Lakers because they have no plan to be any good in the near future. He is 30 years old and over the past four seasons he has only started an average of 67 games (out of 82 possible). He has three years (four years max) of competing at an elite level, and even then he isn’t going to start much more than 70 games. Pop has proven he can keep his older stars healthy. The Spurs can compete for a championship next year, and maybe the year after that.
The Lakers are handicapped by the presence of an over-the-hill, broken down superstar who insists on attending at free agent meetings. Why, if he is only going to play one more year, is Kobe going to free agent meetings? Has he decided he wants to play longer? No way any young, top-flight free agent wants to play with an old, broken down Kobe, especially if he is hinting he might want to hang around longer. In-his-prime Kobe was difficult enough, but at least he gave you a shot at a Championship.
That’s what Kobe and the Lakers have been saying for the last 6 months.
Don’t normally like to reward your snark, Scottie, but you’ve got a point.
Bryant had his time, and it has long passed.
Both his legacy and the Lakers’ situation would have been much better off with Bryant not getting this obscene $48 million contract 2-years ago.
I don’t doubt that players don’t want to play for Kobe. The other question is do they want to play for Jimmy Buss?
Goober B should be waived and Jeanne should fire Jaime the Hat ASAP. Until those two are eliminated, the Laker’s will never improve.
Kobe is the scapegoat for the inept Jimbo Buss.
Kobe ain’t got love for the _______.
The day Kobe Bryant snitched Shaquille O’Neal out regarding other women, in order to deflect attention away from his own rape case, was the day most players in the NBA thought Bryant was a “PunK” , and that stigma will follow him throughout his career. And nobody wants to play with a person like that, regardless of how many rings he has. It’s kinda like a former college athlete coming back years later, and announcing to the world he received extra cash and benefits from his own Alma Mater. WHO DOES THAT ? AND WHY ?
