USC coach Steve Sarkisian put his Palos Verdes house for sale last month (for $9.5 million). And now he’s been sighted in Newport Beach and referred to as a “Newport Beach resident,” by the local paper, the Daily Pilot.
I applaud the move but it sure adds to the daily commute during the football season. There’s always the Radisson Hotel across from USC on late nights. It’s not exactly unheard of for a USC coach to commute from Orange County: Ed Orgeron lived in Mission Viejo during his first tenure at USC as did former offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.
This must be a blow to the South Bay mafia in the USC athletic dept. as Sarkisian lived there most of his life.

It takes a good 15-20 minutes to even reach the 110-Freeway off the “hill” in Palos Verdes, and then another 45 minutes to get to the SC campus, or a total of 1-hour or more. Newport will take a tad longer, but not by much.
Besides, coaches have long hours, so Sark could time his commute around non-rush hours.
In any event, he will be fine.
Exactly….much ado about nothing…..as usual….
Why doesn’t he just live in a luxury apartment or condo in the area around USC downtown? Seems like a lot of Sark’s precious time will be wasted in daily traffic jams.

Like all the other coaches, he will likely spend the season at his office, going home occasionally to relax a bit on Sundays and bye weeks. His home is for the off season. When ever that is.
Glendale will be very, very disappointed.
Not a big deal, the two hour commute (each way) gives him some quality time away from the pressure of the angry mob.
Besides, he coached under Pete the Cheat so I’m sure he’ll utilize the Diamond lane.

I lived in Century Apartments at Jefferson and Vermont back in the early 80’s and I lived to tell about it…….
He’ll sleep in his office, or on sorority row.
