USC Morning Buzz: College Football Preview Time And Crosstown Rivalry Picks

KESSLER.UCLAHere’s one page where you can find out everything about USC and UCLA heading into the season from myself and UCLA beat writer Jack Wang. And here is my initial preseason Top 25 poll. Where do I rank USC and UCLA?

And for many of you, the most interesting part might be picking a winner of the USC-UCLA game in July. But that’s exactly what I and the rest of the college football preview staff did right here. Hint: I picked the winner by one point.

Here’s my list of critical USC performers.

  1. Outside of Scott’s usual lame team-by-team commentary, I don’t have any problems with his preseason Top 25 list…..at least he didn’t include Marshall or North Dakota State……

  2. Scott you are USC’s “most critical performer”. I have never seen a so called reported pick apart their subject like you do.

  3. Come on be serious. Oregon lost more than a QB, not 9 spots higher than the Trojans. At least ucla ranked lower in his mind
for a change. Maybe Scott thinks the #13 will jinx the Trojans
to fall further down the rankings.

    • Hard to base preseason rankings on much more than what happened last year. Rankings are irrelevant anyways. How else do you explain how one team beats another then gets ranked below them in the next poll!?

  4. UCLA’s schedule has a tough 3 game run with Az, ASU and then Stanford. Hard to see them go 3-0 there. After that they got OSU and WSU, may be a sleeper team in one or both of them. Otherwise If Rosen is decent they could do very well. The SC game will decide the division at least.

  5. Don’t have any disagreement with Mr. Wolf’s Top 25. Might be his last true poll for the year. When SC beats UCLA this year, by more that 1 pt, Mr. Wolf will say “I told you so”.

  6. I like how Scot said Mora has won everything except with a freshman qb. Scott, they have not won anything. They beat USC 3 times, but they have not won the conference, even with a 3rd year starter at qb. USC did win the Southern Conference the first time it came up, but had to give it up. Reminder, thug U aka ugly sucks and always will.

    • Mr Trojan:
The only thing that matters to UCLA people is beating USC. True that is a shallow small universe but one that we cherish.

      JW

      • socal = shallow academics, shallow standards and the #1 most sanctioned FB program in the Div 1 FB.

Mr. Wooden, wear the crown proudly.

        • Mr Football
I think the fact that you live on this site is all the evidence anybody needs to show to prove my point. We both have a bad case of big sister envy.
          JW

          • That’s it in a nutshell Mr. Wooden – you have no point. Just based on your blog name, I’d say you suffer from UCLA envy.

          • You mean like a guy who never graduated from college but uses UCLA in his sleep reenactment name? That kind of envy?

          • The blog name UCLA owns LA Football clearly speaks for itself.

In case you missed it 59, UCLA has won the last 3 UCLA/Klown U FB games by double digits. In fact last year, so cal quit in the second half.

There’s a reason socal is scheduling creampuff home games.

        • Good to have you back buddy! I got worried when you disappeared during the strength of non-conference schedule discussion.

Or was it that you realized you had a water pistol in a gun fight?

          • Gooberhead, UCLA doesn’t need cupcake FB schedule to compete in Pac-12 FB.

Lest you forget Goober, socal scheduled two creampuff games instead of real FB games.

          • Not as low as socal’s cupcake schedule.

Ozark St and Potato U at the crumbling mausoleum. No doubt complete sellouts with the obligatory( “Hey Maude we won.”) on field celebration by delirious socal fans.

          • You mean the schedule that is rated harder then the bRuins? That schedule?

          • You don’t need cupcakes, but you need to be here all the time posting right?

        • Thanks for following our shallowness so closely. You are here again why??

To remind of us how shallow and sanctioned we are? Thanks for the reminder……..
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Your like those guys with “The end is near!!Repent” signs.

    • UCLA have also lost 7 straight games to Stanford……but besides that, … and the conference championship game, Mora has won everything….

      • Ugly rents the rose bowl, you took the words out of my mouth, beating U Clowns Lose Again is a tedious but mandatory job for USC. USC looks for higher goals such as winning Rose Bowls beating a worthy opponents, like ND, winning national championships and heismans. Also making them All Americans, first round in the nfl and then college and nfl hall of fame.

Thug U aka ugly has sights on their coaches stealing, cheating, gang banging, and then trying to beat usc. There is a difference between USC and thug u aka ugly.

          • Typical response from you, just like football, track, water polo, and baseball, when USC cleans Thug U aka ugly’s clock in sports and academics, they go yawn as well. Now, isn’t it time for you to go to the senior citizens work out program, water aerobics?

          • Relax PT, you need to focus – you forgot to mention basketball in your rant.

          • Hey, renter, good hearing from you. I am cool as a cucumber. yes, I did not mention USC’s bball team due to the Thug U aka ugly has been handling USC pretty well for a while. However, USC cannot afford nor pay its phlayers (Spelling is for Thug U), like Thug U aka ugly.

          • Hey Upchuck, how are you? long time no hear. What is new with you? I’m gonna guess your wish. Your wish is, are you ready, to have another Johnny Chitin’ Wooden leading the bball team at the most corrupt collegiate sport program of all time. I bet you are just wishing that the new Johnny Cheetin’ Wooden would pay for the abortions, clothing, cash, apartments, and cars for the new phlayers (spelled it that way for your gang bangers that play at Thug U aka ugly).

          • OMG! You are SEETHING with FURIOUS ANGER!!!

            don’t tell me….you drive a bus…am I right???

“It’s me against Colorado Blvd every day!!!”

            #KramdenStyle

          • Hey chuck, do you live in Pasadena? If so, we can meet and have a cold one and I can tell you all the stories of why Thug U is the predominant all time cheating team. i will buy since you went and like thug U aka ugly

          • BTW, I do drive a van to commute people to and from work. No anger. Just my job to inform you that Thug U aka ugly is the most corrupt college of all time. Let me know when you want a cold one.

          • damn, i’m good. by the way i used to live in South Pas (decades ago) and coincidentally, just last weekend i dropped into Fair Oaks Pharmacy’s Soda Fountain. nothing like an actual soda like they make in a soda shop made by an official soda jerk! (or jerkette)

            #OldeSodaShoppe

  7. USC will beat the little gutties at home this year. Sark has to win this one to gain the respect of Trojan fans and he knows it. After last year’s feeble face plant, the Trojans now have the depth, overall quality, playmakers, SR QB and home field advantage. There’s really no excuse for a loss to the bruins, and if it happens, it’s all on Sark.

    • I agree with your overall assessment, however it is a long time until that game and a lot of variables are in play. Just how good that freshman QB might be and how good will he be by the end of the year? Any important injuries to either team? Can your DC get the job done? Will Sark choke? It’s a very strong division. SC has a lot of talent. Does it have the coaching? As you said, it’s all on Sark. Can he out coach your favorite face cupper?

  8. Scott,
I would love to run into you on campus on a game day so you can try and explain your theory behind USC being 13.
That being said….Your not totally out of line.

  9. USC is a feather in his cap. But he is 0-7 vs. Stanford and Oregon. I’m not trying to rattle any Bruin cages. But Wolf is in need of information.

  10. Alabama #2, Oregon #4 ?

Both with “no” proven Quarterback ??

Why not UCLA #1, again “no” proven Quarterback, what’s the difference ???

    Horrible Top-25 !

    Recommendation: Go back to School…

    FightOn

  11. Now that 9th round draft pick and Legendary Bruin QB, Brent Huntley is out of the way, USC should be set to dominate the series again. If USC loses to a Bruin team with Jerry Neuhiesel at Quartrback, not only will I quit watching college football forever, I will shoot myself in the brain. That’s how confident I am that USC will win the crosstown this year. The brain!
