USC Morning Buzz: Winners and Losers Of The Week

WILCOX.CHOKEWINNERS

USC

Picked No. 1 in Pac-12 media poll. Now there is no excuse not to perform, right?

Oregon

You’ve got to give that media relations guy some credit for talking trash to Steve Sarkisian. I can’t imagine the milquetoasts at most other Pac-12 schools doing it. But how much grief will he get if the Ducks lose to USC? And how many people on twitter last weekend pointed out national titles won in Eugene?

Annie Park

Only went to USC for five semesters. Won NCAA individual and team golf titles. Won second Symetra Tour event over the weekend. There are football players at USC who enrolled the same time as Park who are still waiting to play their first college game.

LOSERS

Tradition

Unless there is a big pushback from the fans, alternate uniforms are coming in 2016. Recruits trump everything. And a big booster’s already signed off from what I hear.

At least USC still hasn’t played an FCS (Division I-AA) school . . . yet.

Pac-12 media days

Where was Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright, who won the Lombardi, Bednarik and Nagurski awards?  Or UCLA linebacker/tailback Myles Jack? Or Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan? Or UCLA tailback Paul Perkins? Or Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon?

If the conference makes us attend this thing, at least make the schools bring their best players.

Justin Wilcox

How many times will I run that picture above this season? Probably around 50. It’s too good to pass up.

  1. You’re suggesting that we should trust the media?…. BWAhahahahahahahahahahaha

    • He wrote for the Daily Trojan………….. fast forward 30 plus years and he doing the exact.same.thing…….would you like fries with that?

    • Steve, don’t you get it? It’s not about writing, it’s about volume, volume, volume. If you want to see the other side, check out Jack Wang (real name) over on the Bruin side. He bangs out about two posts a week whether he needs to or not. ZZZZZZZ

  2. That is a perfect picture for Wilcox, he’s awful. If Wolf had that picture last year he could have used it after the Boston College game, Utah game, ASU game, ucla game. You’ll see it this year but next year might be the last time you see it, since Sarky will be fired after 2016, well one can hope he’ll be canned, the incompetent dufus.

  3. ok wolfman set the over/under line for that fabulous photo: 50. i’ll take the over.

this post should get the BUDDIES seething to start off the week!!

wolfman, i heard a rumor the Pentagon sent their best Psy-Ops Unit operators to study under you this summer to learn your methods of psychological warfare…would you care to confirm or deny??

  4. 1. The conference doesn’t “make you attend this thing”

    2. The only “sports writer” showing the Wilcox photo is you Scottie

    3. Schools don’t bring their best players to media day, they bring those that best represent the school

    4. Really? You throw in a line that USC might play a Division I-AA school in the rumor milll of jersey changes?

    5. The Pac-12 media poll is comprised of beat writers like you Scottie that know nothing about football – the only reason these exist is so beat writers can fill a column with the results and not do any actual journalism.

    6. Your idea of “talking trash” is when a member of the media asks a question? Scottie, neither you nor other beat writers are the news – you report the news.

    • Did I miss something this last week concerning Wilcox_?well aware of last year, but what this week? As for SW, his videos were SCARY !!! Face for radio and voice for remote control MUTE How many times will I run my mug shot this season ?(” its to scary to pass up..50 times”””

  5. I can see how being made go to an event where football was being discussed could be a waste of time for a sports fashion blog. I know you got to whine about the colors in Sark’s shirt, but could you imagine if Scooby Wright had an inauthentic U of A font on his shirt!? Journalistic gold there.

I do appreciate that you’ve chosen this venue to pose these rhetorical questions, as opposed to, say, actually asking the coaches when they were doing a Q and A with media members who were forced to be there.

  6. A shame that we are stuck with a beat writer who has such anger towards the school. Why do his pieces so often sound like they are taunting USC?

  7. Scottie, you missed the line by RichRod why Scooby Wright wasn’t attending media day: “…saying he was hoping that would make Wright feel incomplete and want to come back for his senior year.”

  8. Maybe Wilcox is playing charades with you, Scott…..my guess would be “Choking your chicken.”
