Oregon Unveils Its Heisman Trophy (And 8-Layer Pedestal)

MARIOTAOregon unleashed its eight-layer pedestal that hosts the Heisman Trophy won by Marcus Mariota. It really is a great symbol of Oregon with its “13 different uniforms” as Steve Sarkisian might say (while planning an alternate one for USC).

Below is USC’s display of its Heismans in case you never visited Heritage Hall before.

      • Why are you so negative? True, your school is way below USC in football, but can’t you enjoy the fact you’ve beaten SC 3 years in a row? You do have one Heisman. You do have a championship. Why not enjoy it?

        • yo Rock, you make some great points. i can see how a trOXan might read my comments and come away with the inescapable impression that i am negative, childish, petty, sarcastic and angry.

but i have to ask: how can it be WRONG, when it FEELS so RIGHT???

          • “……… negative, childish, petty, sarcastic and angry.”…. and those are your GOOD qualities!

        • Rockie,
Yes, we can and do enjoy the fact that we’ve beaten SoCal (you forgot beaten “badly”) 3 years in a row. Thanks for bringing it up.
Now, with this information in hand, please explain how is it that we are “way below” USC in football?

          • That’s a BIG SOFTBALL. A 1954 National Championship. Gary Beban. Not to mention ALL 3 years UCLA beat SC, No Pac 12 Championship! UCLA Football is Irrelevant. No matter how many in a row, Irrelevant. And please, don’t bring up basketball, that IS Irrelevant at USC. Big deal.

  1. What an embarrassing stretch on your part to try to yammer on about uniforms and imply that this is somehow a big clandestine agenda by the coaching staff and university.

If you took the time to check out what Oregon did, the trophy is really cool. The eight layers are there to represent Mariota’s number, his Hawaiian heritage, as well as the eight Hawaiian islands. In the Wolf spirit, I’ll cut and paste…

“Those levels represent Mariota’s parents and brother, his roots in the islands – illustrated with the help of a Polynesian tattoo artist – his youth football and Saint Louis School coaches, his teammates, coaches and fans at Oregon, and his collegiate home, Autzen Stadium”.

Way to try to use a guy’s family and their heritage to try to come up with a failed attempt at a joke. This might be worse than the stranger danger videos.

    • Yet more half-asssed, inflammatory, self serving reporting by none other than Scott Wolf…anyone who is still not convinced of his true motives really needs to have their head examined….

        • WAS. I’m in Florida. By the way, you also are also negative. You must be proud of your UCLA program, why not support that instead of trying to bring down a hallowed program like USC Football?

          • Do you actually believe a ruin making comments on a blog can bring down USC Football?

      • Since we’ve been wondering about the whereabouts of TE Taylor McNamara. I just seen he’s been missing because he’s a blueshirt. Which means he could not participate in team activities. He’ll be here for fall camp and become a scholarship player on practice #2.

        • Thank you . I’m not clear on how the rule governs.
. Hasn’t Burnett participated in player only workouts? He’s blue shirt too right? Again not clear.Think McNamara is the Oklahoma grad transfer, have to check on it. Thanks

          • You are right on that. Dan Weber made it seem as if he hasn’t practiced much with the team. As long as he’s there for camp

          • Ya I haven’t heard him mentioned, think he was to graduate in May. Maybe he can’t enroll until Fall? He was a 4star from San Diego, redshirt then injury. Was behind a couple on deep depth chart. Different system, fits ours better.

          • Yeah. I’m hoping we can get some productivity out of Tyler Petite and McNamara. Cope-Fitpatrick should be very solid, but his eligibility is supposedly coming down to the wire. Telfer was a horrible blocker at TE last year. If we can get good blocking and some decent catching productivity out of our TEs that’s big for our offense.

          • Connors done well also.I think by Stanford game TE will be solid… Did you get your tickets Stanford ?

          • I’m giving my nephew until Thursday to confirm he can go with me. I go to about 2-3 games a year. The tickets are going quick. My sons mom had to work. But if he backs out I’m ok with it. If I can’t make I’ll try my best to get to the bruin game.

          • Just read a August 4 interview with Stovall at
Ri…Al’s.All seems normal. He’s taking couple official visits, and remains commited. ND is still pushing. Utah, Colorado, Washington St.others. He mentioned recent contact with USC coaches and his role…Seems solid both ends

          • I hope he stays a Trojan. The only way I would drop Stovall would be for a top DL prospect or perhaps another elite CB.

          • I don’t think we would drop him and not take back in this class.. ND is the one pulling him the most.. If someone dropped think it will be from the 3 kids you mention couple days ago.Plus not sure how solid the Alabama receiver is.

          • Did that sound weird? Been together 9 years. Being my sons coach there were people always sayin “your wife”. Not married yet. The pressure for marriage is felt.

          • It’s is pressuring saying my girlfriend after 9 years together. It will happen. But is not on my mind at the moment. Not to spill my life story or anything, but my brother and one of my best friends are going through ugly divorces. Long story short. We’re practically married it will be official in about a year or two.

  2. ESPN “College Football Live” will be doing there show LIVE from USC & UCLA on August 12.

Be sure to set your DVR’s

  3. Cute way to mask the fact that you only have one Heis. Make the base SO BIG! If SC did the same, nobody could walk around the room. Gotta let the trophIES stand for themselves. Gotta make room for MORE!

  4. Since alternate uniforms and helmets have been the talk for about a week now here is what an impartial opinion has on the the best uniforms in our conference.

Brian Anderson of CougcenterCOM (Washington St. Website) ranked the Pac 12’s best uniforms from head to toe.

    #1 USC
    #2 Oregon
    #3 Cal
    #4 Washington St.
    #5 Arizona St.
    #6 Stanford
    #7 Colorado
    #8 Washington
    #9 UCLA
    #10 Utah
    #11 Arizona
    #12 Oregon St.

    • Interesting.. Guess the pumpkin colors of Oregon St. Aren’t the most popular.. Corvallis in fall no thanks…

    • He lost me when he ranked Stanford’s boring uniforms higher than Washington’s.

  5. ATTENTION K-mart shoppers……….LIMBO U football tickets are NOW on sale at GROUPON…..That’s just sooo special.
